Bought LAP ones from screwfix 6 months ago, USB power no longer works on one of them.
No longer have receipt I imagine.

stupid question. What is the "twin earth"?
I bought a pack of the argos 2.1amp ones the other week (just installed this weekend gone), and it had a single earth connection. But installing it in existing socket#1 and I had 2 of each wire type (screwed in together of course), but on the socket#2 downstairs, I'm pretty sure there was only 1 of each wire....does that mean it would not work if only a single wire setup?

It will work fine as you still have Live, Neutral and earth. One core of each probably means it's a Spur from a Ring Main or Radial circuit both are absolutely fine.

They say 'fits a 25mm backbox' which is about as small as backboxes go. I would never use a 25mm backbox with any half decent socket.
Personally, I don't think they're a good idea anyway
It's 2.1A for USB ports which is kinda slow for modern tech. 3.1 is a must really.

The 3.1A is shared between the 2 USBs. What happens if you plug in a tablet and an iPhone and both try to draw 2A+ each?
Still, better than most of this type.

Buy 2 for £14 Promo Ends 04/06/2017
Are these easy to swap in new build homes? Just quick swap or needs new holes etc?

Standard fitment, straight swap, at worst you may need a paint touch up around the socket but doubt it very much.
