I definitely can't afford to be spending £36 on a headset. That said, heat added, I just grabbed a Cloud II 7.1 in grey for £36. Cheers OP! £24 cheaper than Amazon, £34 cheaper than OcUK. Here's hoping they don't cancel the order!

I'm looking for a headset for my son's Xbox one. Is it worth paying the extra £10 for the Hyperx cloud 2 or is the Stinger good enough?

Yes mate it is compatible if you have the newer Xbox one controller with the 3.5mm jack or if you have an xbox one controller adapter however the 7.1 surround sound cannot be used on the Xbox one so it will be a stereo headset but from reviews it's a very good headset and this is a bargain

Is it working (compatible) with xbox one?

Do the HyperX headphones heat your ears up a lot? I got that feeling from previous headphones I've had, but they were of less quality.

I've got the HyperX Clouds (1st gen) and it is perfect in terms of not heating up your ears a lot and being comfy to wear for hours on end. Don't know how other HyperX headphones do but mine are great.

They come with leather ear pads attached, and a set of cloth pads in the box, the leather ones make my ears really hot, but the cloth ones don't, they're a more breathable material. But the cloth ones let slightly more sound in, which I actually don't mind since it comes in handy.

Multiple YouTubers have said that the stereo sound on the HyperX Cloud II's are far better than these, just a heads up.

Appreciate the input.
Is it quiet and is the backlight bright and clear for typing in the dark (movie on tv - so we usually dim lights)?
Open to as many suggestions and opinions as people are willing to offer.

Opinions sought:
Seeking backlit keyboard where light shines through character keys themselves - family home pc.
PC is in TV room so is used whilst other are watching TV (relating to the sound of the keys when pressed).
No gaming - just word, youtube, emails.
Needed for 60 year old couple with age related visual degredation.
Don't need anything very expensive - just reliable.
My thanks to anyone that shares sugestions.

I have sight issues and use a corsair keyboard like the one in this post it works well to be able to see the keys as for the sound it makes best look on youtube as mechanical keys will always make a noise (though you can buy dampeners at extra cost).
