A Lush Post-Apocalyptic World - How have machines dominated this world, and what is their purpose? What happened to the civilization here before? Scour every corner of a realm filled with ancient relics and mysterious buildings in order to uncover your past and unearth the many secrets of a forgotten land.
Nature and Machines Collide - Horizon Zero Dawn juxtaposes two contrasting elements, taking a vibrant world rich with beautiful nature and filling it with awe-inspiring highly advanced technology. This marriage creates a dynamic combination for both exploration and gameplay.
Defy Overwhelming Odds - The foundation of combat in Horizon Zero Dawn is built upon the speed and cunning of Aloy versus the raw strength and size of the machines. In order to overcome a much larger and technologically superior enemy, Aloy must use every ounce of her knowledge, intelligence, and agility to survive each encounter.
Cutting Edge Open World Tech - Stunningly detailed forests, imposing mountains, and atmospheric ruins of a bygone civilization meld together in a landscape that is alive with changing weather systems and a full day/night cycle

Yeah I am pretty sure this is by far the best received title in ages. Even some of the most scathing areas of the internet love this. It's pretty obvious when people who haven't played go in and start silly comparisons with Zelda etc.
Re Witcher is awesome, if controls and combat are a bother set it to very easy and enjoy

As someone who doesn't play RPGs and had played Witcher 3 before which I didn't really get on with. I'm more of an Uncharted, Infamous and MGS player. Horizon's story so far is one of the best I've seen, the combat is highly satisfying (the bow is great) and the visuals are stunning. I can't wait to finish it!

Let's disagree. Also which games do you think it's based off? As you just said it's generic.

What nonsense is this? This is easily one of the best games of all time. It's also refreshingly respectful of your time unlike many modern games which contain lots of content for the sake of it or to artificially increase value for money. 100's of collectibles or whatever modern grinding nonsense are fully absent here.

It's good and obviously a lot of people are enjoying it but to rank it amongst the best games of all time is a bit much IMO.
I guess I'm not particularly impressed because I've played some of the games it borrows heavily from. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing inherently wrong with the game but the whole thing feels very generic to me.
The general consensus seems to be split 50/50. Some praise it as the second coming and some find it a bit samey. Very few say it's an outright bad game. :sunglasses:

As a self confessed photo mode obsessive is this game worth it? Does it have a full photo mode with camera settings or is it just a screenshot affair?

Has a photo mode with a few settings.

Heat, it seems to be holding it's price quite well but it is an exclusive.
Bought it a few weeks back and have only managed about 6 hours and it isn't drawing me back. It's a visually stunning game which borrows heavily from many other recent AAA titles but never seems to carve it's own path or set itself aside from the crowd. As such it feels tremendously generic but it's a massive step up from the developers previous offerings(Killzone). Seems to be a game that people really enjoy whereas others find it 'run-of-the-mill'. One for the graphics aficionado I think.

Fantastic game, completed everything in it 100% and the only complaints i had was the lackluster facial animation/dialogue and large parts of the open world has nothing it in except repeated machine "sites", however the main focus of the game besides the machine killings is the stellar story.
Looking forward to the expansion dlc and inevitable sequel.

WOW just because i don't like this game i have a short attention span, plenty of games that are a lot more complicated than this that i enjoyed, we all have different tastes you know, why to stereotype someone, im playing persona 5 at the moment does that mean i have a short attention span? also plenty of games ive went back to later and enjoyed, it all depends what mood we are in at the time, but agree 100% with your other post, both consoles are great and only blind fanboys cant see this.

Games like this, this is why PlayStation beats Xbox every time Xbox Scorpio is a interesting console but won't have the games

Xbox also has it's exclusives as well. Forza Horizon 3 for example which blows any PlayStation car racing game out the water. The PlayStation just doesn't do sports or car racing games as well as the Xbox. What's best console overall depends if you are an Xbox or a PlayStation fanboy and no matter what games etc the other console has is not going to convince you otherwise. Me, I just like gaming so I play both as I don't want to cut myself off from a great games on either platform.

Waiting for it to hit the £29.99 mark (or close to it)

I think it's just you. That having been said if you are the type of person with a 3 second attention span this isn't the game for you.
It's a spectacular game in HDR and 4K on the PS Pro.

Great games hold their value due to fewer trade ins, and lower availability of second hand copies.
Personally I wasn't that excited by it, but that's the general consensus hah

I was waiting for it to come down to around £30 but gave in. I wasn't sure about RPGs after Witcher 3 as its story and setting felt dull to me. I've only played 10-12 hours but boy I am blown away by the combat, crafting system and story which are outstanding!

Got so bored with this, generic open world, probably the most overrated game in recent memory. Aloy uses Witcher senses more than Geralt FFS! Amazing looker though, easily best looking console game I've played.
