This set is not bottom of the market, it's their top end set in the UK. Goodmans sets do not have HDR and are not 10 bit panels like this one, they don't come close in build quality too

JL, always knowingly undersold.

Physical store? "No, it's a showroom, we do not price match."

"No, it's a store. I ca walk in pay and take away."

"Sorry, we do not price match show rooms."

This is the JL mentality.

Had mine a year - Great TV. HDMI 2.2. 4K looks amazing. Don't bother with the 'smart' capabilities as it's dire. It also has the most painful AV/HDMI selection possible which makes harmony remote configuration troublesome. There are no direct buttons for HDMI1/2/3/4.

Goodmans do a 4k 65" HDR with Freeview play, android, apps etc for less:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cello-65-Inch-Smart-4K-Ultra-HD-LED-TV-C65ANSMT-4K-/122422198293?hash=item1c80ee8015:g:fnAAAOSwol5Y3P~d

In fact, they are usually a bit cheaper from Crampton and Moore at £649, but they currently have none in stock, but no doubt will be back in by the end of the week.

This Hisense is actually a bit over priced for the bottom of the market.

And in English.... a very interesting read.... looks like a wide range of TVs for 2017 at a mix of price points...

2017 Hisense TVs - a must read IMO

Looks like the equivalent to the 65M7000 may be the H9 at around £1000 ....according to Wired Magazine

Hisense and TCL are the big fish, and they introduced themselves to America a few years ago with a range of cheap-but-decent panels with Roku players built into them. Now, they’re making their moves in the midrange market. Last year, Hisense’s H8 stood out with its combination of 4K resolution and HDR playback for around $500, and it has solid reviews on Amazon.
Now Hisense has a step-up model with enhanced performance for a really good price. According to Hisense, the H9 boasts a wider color gamut and a local-dimming system to keep contrast in check. But the price is the real eye-catching feature: It’ll come to market at $700 for a 50-inch model, $850 for a 55-incher, and $1,300 for a 65-inch set. Keep in mind that with TVs, those MSRPs are usually at least $100 higher than the prices you see at retail.

....and another link Hisense debuts 2017 TV lineup: H7D, H8D, H9D, and H10D

Hi Litania 72. No it had been reduced to 1199 previously.i was expecting to pay that but they literally had just reduced it yesterday pm to the 925. I even asked them twice and checked it was the 65ks8000 so i grabbed it on the spot.i think to be fair many models will come down in next week or so its just a case of being patient.

You need a very wide stand , I had to buy a new one basically because the feet are at each end as opposed to somewhere in the middle.

here is a link to the stand I purchased....fits nicely , with around 8 inch spare each side , nice stand , I think I paid 59.99 at the time delivered.....very easy to put together , might require 2 people due to the weight of the glass.

very sturdy stand.

Looking at the 55" version of this TV. Anyone got this and using it with a PS4 and/or a PC. I have a Samsung JU6400 48" at the moment. It has HDR (only 8 bit I think) and can only do HDR in 1 HDMI port.

Can this TV do HDR in more than 1 HDMI port (need at least 2 for PS4 Pro and PC). Is £542 a good price for this (55")?

I went from a 55" to a 65" last week but unfortunately it was faulty - thing is my 55" now looks like a bloody portable so might need to bite the bullet on this.

Anybody know what the blacks are like on this as all my previous LCD's have been full array local dimming??

I bought this for my 55" last year and it is solid. Only gripe is that the screws for the wall are super long!...probably a bit over the top to be honest, so would recommend buying screws a bit shorter in length.

Cello/Goodmans is a British manufacturer.
No one likes a smart a$$.
FamGuy
13 Apr 17 #147
Goodmans, Cello etc
FamGuy
13 Apr 17 #148
Of course it is!
There is absolutely no colour space information other than "a wide colour gamut" , nothing advising of how much of the sRGB spectrum it is capable of reproducing or which colour space it's designed for.

The fact that it claims to have local dimming rings alarm bells, without it turned on you'll get muddy blacks at best, or you'll be constantly aware of vertical strips of the display turning on and off. This will be terrible when watching a movie at night. Is it an IPS panel? What range of viewing angle does it provide?

"HDR" is therefore not actually HDR, but just an over saturated and poorly contrasted attempt at reproducing an actual HDR image without actually doing so. Which HDR standard and colour space does it profess to be using? SRGB? Rec.709? DCI-P3? Rec.2020? HDR10? Dolby Vision? HLG? Advanced HDR? Without any actual HDR format information it's clearly not implementing any of the HDR standards, or paying a licence to use one, therefore it's not HDR.

There is a complete lack of information regarding the screen's peak brightness or black level, how can they then claim on the other hand that it's capable of HDR?

It's neither android or webOS, so none of the built in "apps" will work after a couple of years when content providers update their streaming protocols, which effectively makes the apps unusable and you'll be back to using a set top box.

Why don't you do your homework, before making silly comments. Trying to make out you know what you're talking about, when in reality, it seems you know jack........

HISENSE REVIEW

Independently reviewed, and given a best buy rating. Why don't you read the review, and hopefully you'll find the answers to your questions.

Alternatively, stick to what you know. Go and buy a Goodmans/Cello, and post it as a deal. Post up some reviews as well, let's see how they compare.

Oh so your in Broadcasting! Makes your comments even more laughable.

Comparing a Goodmans to this set lol.

If this TV is trash, what does that make the Goodmans you recommended..........

Have you actually read the link to the review I posted earlier? Nah didn't think so, what a fool. An in depth independent review of this TV, answering every single one of your earlier queries about this set, and which has been fully calibrated, and tested and came away with a Best Buy rating.

Please link us to a review of any Goodmans TV, with a half decent review............

Go back to your day job of making the teas, and stop posting your garbage as you don't have a clue.

Do us all a favour, READ THE REVIEW, then come back if you want to,(although, I'd recommend you crawl back under a stone) and tell us all its still trash........

Apparently, according to "FamGuy" who works in Broadcasting, this Hisense is trash. Don't bother with Sony, you need to go for a Goodmans or Cello. They're British and the best TV's ever......

FamGuy
14 Apr 17 #159
What's the matter with you?
Cello/goodmans is 3 dead pixels before they will exchange the set. Hisense is allowance 7. You'll have absolutely no recourse within the warranty period for an exchange until you hit the 8th dead pixel. That's abysmal when you're spending nearly a grand on a TV set.

I have been given a Hisense tv recently.. no vested interest (other than wanting it to be OK). From what I have read they have either Samsung or LG panels, but the rest of the internals may be crap. If you are going to use it via hdmi for an external source, it should be good. Sound is likely to be useless though...
FamGuy
14 Apr 17 #166
Sure, I'd be only too happy to conduct your research for you..
Simon Lind (MD) recently advance replaced a 65" set which developed a vertical line on the screen. Their driver lifted the duff set and replaced it with new on the spot, and on a Saturday no less.
Have you been introduced to "google" yet?

http://celloelectronics.com/

I'd draw your attention to "Best Of British" and "All TV's made in the UK".

Do you need the help of a caregiver, interpreter, or high contrast display to assist you in reading and understand website information?

To assist in combating stupidity, I've taken the opportunity of highlighting seven key areas of Cello's website which you may find of interest:

All the best of luck with your imported TV by the way. I hope it gives you many years of trouble-free viewing, and in the unfortunate event that your set should develop a fault, I trust that you'll have retained the packaging to accommodate it's international return to the manufacturer for repair, or assessment for replacement.

Seriously though.. it's all made with the same generic Chinese components. Unless someone started producing microchips and LED panels in Swansea or something?
FamGuy
15 Apr 17 #168
You'll find the majority of components are from FoxCon, the same people who make iPhones.

But either way, I've disproved your fake news and now you are picking at transistors and capacitors!?

Bit of a pillock really mate.

Shame you was not bothered to click on the links on the page you provided. If you spend few seconds to click on link "All Cello TVs are MADE in the UK>" and then view their own video on the youtube link, you'll see what they doing.
Unless you have different internet, all they show on the video is no more than ASSEMBLY LINE. They just put premanufactured components together. Someting done usually in least developed countries.
If you want to compare, how REAL electronics manufacture looks like - UK as well - please watch this (random link from youtube) and spot the difference:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8unH7T6ONMM
Unfortunately it looks like they're building something different than tellys.

I'm more than happy to be corrected, but as far as I am aware Cello only assembles boards, LCD panels and other components purchased off the shelf from the mammoth generic component manufacturers of China. It simply isn't profitable to design and to manufacture electronics from the component level up in the U.K. They use ''Made in the U.K.'' in the loosest sense of the phrase.

Again, happy to be proven wrong by anyone with evidence to the contrary.
breslau
15 Apr 17 #174
The reviews of Cello on Amazon are a total trainwreck.. at least the ones that aren't shill ones written by the company, or whichever third-world, click-farm sweatshop they got to write them for them.
Like I said - I got given a Hisense. If it pants, I will donate it to the charity shop down the road.

For anyone having any issues getting the tv to play HDR content, I've found the issue now and it's working great.

All you need to do is go into setting and change the HDMI from standard to enhanced. You can then change the colour space to 10 bit & all of the apps become HDR where available.

I've had HDR content playing via the Nvidia shield on the Netflix & Amazon apps, plus a file running from the USB drive.

Hmm I dont seem to have that option. I have HDMI and CEC Function but in there is only CEC control options.

Did you have to do a firmware update or something first?

I had an official OTA update when I first booted up my TV, but my options match the screenshots over on AV Forums, so it can't just be me.

Hi Chris - got mine today & am delighted with it - one little question though - I can't find any option to "then change the colour space to 10 bit"where is this option? - I have been able to use the HDR option once playing files off USB but I'm not getting the option in Netflix (have 4K account) for HDR. Thanks
ChrisUK
22 Apr 17 1 #195
Sorry mate, that was through a 3rd party box (Nvidia shield). I don't think the Netflix on the tv app does HDR.

Having to send mine back and as John Lewis no longer stock it I have to get a refund rather than replacement. Cheapest I can find the TV for now is £995. Lovely! Check this out:
