I have a triple points voucher. Would that stack with the 10x points?
I suppose its more likely to work out as 10 + 3x than 10 x 3x!

No otherwise it would have been posted and got a lot of heat. If you read the vouchers, I'm sure they say that you do not get extra points if you use this kind of promotion or one of the '3X' or '5X' coupons you get at the till, with a points coupon like the one you mentioned..

Just logged in to 'my favourites on offer' and there is hardly anything there, I wonder if Sainsburys would hold back their usual offers because of this deal? I'm going tomorrow but it will be a top-up shop for milk and a few other items, if they're cheaper in Tesco they'll get my custom, I'm not being swayed by an offer for points where I can save money by shopping elsewhere.
BTW have I worked it out right, if I spend a tenner I'll get 50p back in points? Initially this seemed like a good deal but with the lack of offers for me it is not :disappointed:.

26 Apr 17#78
Agreed. I don't know what they think they're playing at by nearly doubling the prices on much of their Basics range in the last few months, e.g. the toilet cleaner went from 27p to 50p overnight, but still 27p at ASDA Tesco & Morrisons.
Do they seriously think people won't notice? Or care?

If you haven't done already, register the card at https://www.nectar.com/ then click on the Brands tab and see your choices. Most people probably spend them at Agros or in Stainsburys, but there are a few other choices.

Looks like Sainsburys are cutting out their coupons so they lose more business...clever idea that !

People moaning about Sainsbury's prices and banging on about being more expensive! Is it really?! I've tried other supermarkets and they are just as expensive! Yes individual items can be more than others but that works the other way round too! Fruit and veg is 10 times the quality than other supermarkets and lasts much longer because of this!

Good deal...
But has anyone else noticed Sainsbury's petrol is more expensive than other supermarkets in their area?
It seems to be around 2p a litre more than the likes of Asda, Morrisons and Tesco, in most the large towns in Northamptonshire when driving around, where the other supermarkets seem to price match each other or within 0.2p of each other.

jimbo23
21 Apr 17#66
Just got this too. This is how I got the main bulk of points with my shop. Sainsburys has very little to offer now as other supermarkets are much cheaper, and some still offer brand/item matching. Sainsburys stopped brand matching to 'improve overall pricing' which never happened.

Doesn't always work and I should know as I work for them. If it worked for everyone then they'd all be doing it. So would the staff! We go through phases of handing out vouchers at the tills. It makes no sense to me who gets vouchers and who doesn't!

It's a shame Sainsbury's is 20% more expensive than the other supermarkets to begin with. How this deal got so hot is beyond me.
Since they dropped brand match and halved the amount of Nectar points you can earn it's been a sham. Then with more recent price increases I'd say Sainsbury's is easily the most expensive supermarket apart from Waitrose. We no longer shop there after being loyal Saino's customers for years
robin5858
20 Apr 17#60
Actually less as you will only get 9 points per £1 spend as the 10th point is the original point given to you when you shop.

I've saved £274 worth of Nectar points, may get a dash cam, not decided yet. Got a lawnmower last year. I know I've spent a lot with Sainsbury and their Nectar friends, but it still seems like I'm getting something for just shopping with a store I'd use anyway.

I've just noted on my Sainsburys coupon site I don't even get an offer of double points anymore. One more reason not shop there.
Plus I only get nectar points on Sainsburys own brands now, no main brand point offers.
Add that to higher prices than anyone else, steadily getting to no reason to shop there anymore.

I have to say that they charge 5p a litre more than asda so deff not a good deal

19 Apr 17#49
There's so much you can do with your points. Firstly, build them. Register your card at the Nectar website and there are loads of places you can build your points and special point offers. Register your card with Sainsburys my coupons as well - I always have a double points coupon that I load on my card. I pretty much get a voucher printed off at the till at Sainsburys for extra points every time I visit (less than once a week), being the tight-arsed miserly mrs that I am, if doing a big shop, then I put say a fivers' worth of stuff through first to get the points voucher to use on the rest of my shopping.
Then... they're worth 1/2p each basically. 1000 will be worth £5, BUT, if you save them up for the double-up event, you can use up to £40 worth on each qualifying department (if buying clothes, there are a usually a couple of days where this promotion overlaps with the 25% off event also). You can also spend them at other participating retailers too (see HotUKDeals and the Nectar website for special offers.

Hot! Hot! Hot! Gutted they didn't do the double-up this spring, but 10x Nectar points sweetens the blow somewhat (and I won't be complaining come the Autumn/Winter double-up. Thank you Canchi32. xx

Nectar deals are definitely getting sparse. I seldom get extra points vouchers with shopping now and as someone else has said, Sainsbury's fuel price has crept up lately. It's now cheaper at my local BP and Shell.

I know I probably sound pedantic but them announcing it won't happen this Easter is not the same as them cancelling it. I know some of the tweets suggest otherwise but they're likely misinformed staff.
I see from the link that it says "We'll also be running a new event in April that we think our customers will be really excited about. We'll be sharing details of that event soon." So I think you're right about this being their alternative.
Yes that's why everyone is different , it's a good deal but not for me because I just filled up and I do around 2k miles a year so I won't fill up for another 6 weeks or so and the deal will be gone by then but heat for the drivers who do lots of miles

Are my calculations correct in stating that this equates to 5% back (in money terms) off your spend in nectar points or 10% if you wait to spend points in one of the double up promotions ?
IRONM4N_UK to rooney10

Correct
On the whole nectar points are poor value and not worth factoring against Sainsburys much higher prices on the whole.
