Headspace = paying for something that you can do for free and should be free. Hipsters ruining everything, they ruined beards.

I didn't like Headspace. Apart from not getting on with the content, I don't think the guy has the right voice for guided meditations. I much prefer the Insight Timer - hundreds and hundreds of guided meditations and it's totally free. Also the basic version of Destressify is free, though only a few guided meditations.
If you can find Jon Kabat Zinn's guided meditations online or on a cd, they are excellent, especially the Body Scan. Also, Tara Brach has a lot of stuff online (and on the Insight Timer) and I find her meditations very good.

You could do one student membership for you (£4.99), one for your mum (£9.99) and then get this included. You'll being paying the same amount (in fact you will save 1p!)

If only mental health was that simple! Also, meditation / mindfulness isn't just for relief of anxiety.

I have looked at this, I was looking at a a package including a few treatments
I'm getting an error when I try to activate the headspace sub, i already had a headspace account that is linked to the same email address as my spotify account (it's my facebook account). Anyone know anyway around this?

If you are not interested in Spotify (and NUS Extra) then you can apply the code 'Mindful' to get a 25% discount, bringing monthly subscription to £3.66.

I remember seeing some ways to get an NUS card in here without being a student a few weeks back. NUS lets you get student Spotify so should work.

If you are a graduate, then you might be able to get an NUS Alumni card. Enter your email address (any valid email will do), then select the place you graduated from. It worked for me:
For me this app helped the penny drop as to mindfulness. Yes you could do it by yourself but the guided meditation, there are many which have a particular focus. For example a recent addition is a rehab one for those recovering from an injury, which is part of sports pack, other pack are related to health, relationships performance etc.

It produces a hole in your head so you have space to store miscellaneous items.

You don't even need to bother paying for an online course. When it asks you for place of study on NUS site just put "The Shaw Academy"

For those asking about becoming a Student again: https://cards.nusextra.co.uk/affiliate/alumni
This card is designed for graduates and gives all the same discount as NUS extra card. So no need to sign up for online courses etc.

I have a three year one, all i used was the email I used for the free course from the Shaw Academy.

It says whenever your student Spotify discount expires
I can imagine lots of people forgetting and getting charged £14.99
Don't you have to prove you are still a student with Spotify every year?

Yes you do, and i always forget.
I got the email for this yesterday and signed up. It's a good deal, just keep watching your account and keep applying the student discount every year.

Going to disagree on the first point. Have bought countless books on meditation and mindfulness but could not relax enough to get started.
This worked for me and literally melted away my anxiety and allowed me to trully relax.
I do however agree on point number 2, hipsters did indeed ruin beards

I've done the whole process and installed the app - how do I make the app recognise I should have the premium version now? Really confused...
