I have a Xiaomi wristband, recognises and displays my activity on Xiaomi app - cost £9 - Can anyone tell me the benefit of this more pricey alternative, I am curious?

Think the best one is the JL with the 2 year warranty as you might find you need it, got one the other week, or should I say 2 first one faulty second didn't work right either and after a week in the box said we had burn 300 calories. Talking with people at work and two said they had issues and had to have theirs replaced as well.

Great device, although I've had no problem with mine, 2-year warranty probably worth a fiver over Currys' deal

There's 2 year guarantee at Curry's too, so Curry's is the better deal.

Wifey has the Mi too; and she loves it; but hers cost me £15.95p. You did well. However she want's one that sinc's with her PC (she doesn't do the tablets/Smartphones) so I guess one day I'll have to get her a Fitbit. Hopefully not at this cost though! Heated anyway because it's a good price.

I got one of these a month and a half ago, as upgrade from my charge HR which fell apart almost every 4 months to the dot. Fitbit comes with 2 year guarentee anyways and their customer service is very good. I bullied them into giving me 50% off a limited edition strap charge 2 because their standard line is either a replacement of your faulty one (I went through 4 HRs in 16 months) or 30% off the store. It's definitely an improvement from charge HR, it doesn't feel cheap like the HR and won't experience the same bubbling issue (which is the reason I had so many replacements). Anyone got any questions about the charge 2 or it's functions do please ask me

I've just gone through my first Charge HR replacement - they initially said they had no black replacements left in stock so I asked for 50% off a charge HR2 which I would happily upgrade to but they refused - how did you manage to convince them? In the end they found stock so I just got a replacement HR and didn't further the query for a discount on an upgrade. The inital 30% discount I felt was poor and not enough of a reason to purchase an upgrade.

New update today, nice to see if their takeover of pebble only results in 1 thing they added the written text time face to fitbit charge 2 which i always liked

Check compatibility before purchasing fit bit charge 2 as it is not compatible with all android phones.

Hot from me.. I'm happy with mine, it's a couple of quid cheaper at £97.99 at Costco... I've had two straps bubble where it joins the main unit. Fitbit replaced the first time. I couldn't be bothered the second time (after only 3 days), so got a 3rd party one from Amazon and it's been brilliant.

That really with the charge 2 or do you mean the old charge HR?

Currently having the same issue with bubbling and its come away from the unit both ends. Same thing happened with my flex after a few month.
Looking at the fitbit forum seems like a big problem with the charge2. Waiting on a replacement band from fitbit but i expect the same thing happens again so might try the amazon version instead.

I only convinced them after weeks of chasing and finally getting to the higher echelon of their customer service, also I had had 3 or 4 replacements already and argued 30% off only took it to the RRP roughly of same price on Amazon. I told them I didn't want another replacement for it to just fall apart in 3-4 months time.

You are legally entitled to a full refund of anything if it fails again after being repaired or replaced once if within 6 months with no questions asked and within 2 years if you can print out issues from other buyers that match yours ...Just saying

Eh, I only paid £50 for my HR in Black Friday 2015 sale and used it (and replacements) until Feb 2018, I wanted to upgrade to a nicer one anyways. I got the £160 limited edition charge 2 for £80 with my 50% off store code.
These are what I bought. Only difference is no 'Fitbit' name on the strap loop. Amazon link Two straps for less than £8...

I bought an HR 2 from Costco last week, I think it's great. I updated from a Jawbone up24. People are mentioning bubbling... what does this mean?

Why do people need a watch to tell them how many calories they've burnt? Why not just use scale on a weekly or monthly basis - much cheaper! People buy these watches to lull them into a false sense of health benefits in that they are losing calories etc. Very gimmicky. Heart rate monitor? It's not as if one keeps a defibrillator on hand... If you exercise your heart rate will obviously increase - not rocket science.

Calorie tracking is useful for those of us who want to track how many calories we burn so we can eat the appropriate level of food depending on our goals - not to just see that calories are being burnt.
And a side note: scales showing purely weight are a terrible measure of your body/shape - they don't take into account your body composition.
Heart rate monitor isn't for tracking if you're having a heart attack, it's so you can ensure you're exercising at an effective intensity.
Besides those are only two in a long list of useful features it has. Maybe there are people out there that would use it in the way you allude to, but it's a very useful accessory for anybody serious about fitness.

Where's old fashioned fitness gone? Where you didn't have to wear a £99 watch in order to exercise. Your correct, scales aren't a good measure of how much you've lost - but a mirror is. Says it all.

Good old fashioned fitness has gone to the same place as you're good old fashioned spelling and grammar...

Technology has developed and gives you access to all this useful data that allows you to see how effectively you're exercising, so why shouldn't people take advantage of it if their serious about exercise.
No one is saying you can't exercise without it - just saying that it can be beneficial, particularly for those on the more active end of the fitness spectrum.

I agree - Mi Fit 2 excellent piece of Kit, works great with my IOS notifications - calendar, Facebook, WeChat etc. Feeds data to IOS Health app for tracking purposes. £15 direct for Mi shop in Xi'an

I scrolled through all the comments to find the answer but it is a shame no one has answered yet! there has to be SOME reason why hukd people are buying £99 watches instead of £9 ones?

For the ecosystem. Same way people choose Apple for iOS. Fitbit's UI, support and network is far better than the MiBand one. I had a MiBand and it did most of the stuff fine (though it was less accurate and the HR data seemed to be made up) but I missed the social side of Fitbit.
