Had EE ADSL some three years ago, it was as slow as Sky ADSL which I had previously. The best performing ADSL packages I have had so far are from AAISP and Phone Coop Broadband. AAISP has very knowledgeable 1st line tech support. And Phone Coop has 24/7 tech support - I have called them in the past at 1am and someone answered!

EE use the BT network. Overcrowding is going to be down to the cabinet and local exchange level so you can't tarnish the whole network with one experience. The contract is going to have minimum performance levels so you can challenge the contract if absolutely necessary but determining actual speed before you sign up is going to be tough.
My new house is in a rural location and whilst the cabinet is fibre enabled, its too far away so the best they reckon I can get is 0.5meg adsl. Laughable they still give themselves a +/- 1 meg tolerance!

Ee is a mobile provider, not broadband. Should have stuck with whats best. Their broadband is poorly, many issues with charges. Had little to no service. It's alright for those who use the internet here and there and don't mind slow speeds although keep a eye out on your bill.

Just switched from BT to EE as we were paying £50 and all we ever used was broadband. Topcashback didn't track when we took out the EE deal and I'm still waiting for my claim to be resolved. TBH the only reason I went with EE was because of their cashback deal... few months in and I can't really tell any difference between EE and BT. The only downside is that I can't seem to get my netgear black hawk router to work.

I got EE in January, and always wondered why my broadband speed was slow in the evening. I thought they just had limited availability in my area.

14 Apr 17#29
Believe it or not, capping with EE is just a myth. It's either due to being in an area with slow ADSL, which is the same with any broadband provider, or you have a fault on your line. Terms and conditions were recently changed to state that there is no longer any traffic management.
Rahxie
14 Apr 17#30
The speeds are the same with all providers on the BT network. Could always get fibre if it's available? It's a bit more, but well worth it for better speeds.

5GB extra each month.
Also I switched from EE to Plusnet. They (plusnet) throttle like crazy, terrible, it's only been a month in and I want out. Shouldn't have changed, had no such problems with EE. Paid the line rental in advance so I won't get that back if I change now.
Proj
15 Apr 17#36
EE is cheap trash and to make it worse their customer care too when you have technical issues and speed issues (which is like business as usual). If you are happy with sluggish broadband speed (you won't be able to watch Netflix ultra hd 4K content) and can wait for 30-40 minutes every now and then to sort out broadband issues, then please enjoy your cash back.

I signed for this EE broadband and today received an email from BT, where it's says that: What do I need to pay? You'll need to pay: £55.00 for BT broadband equipment charges £3.30 for BT TV equipment charges a charge for each month left on the minimum term of your contract. We expect this to be £9.50 by the time you've moved. You could avoid this by staying with us until the end of your contract.

yep i agree i changed to EE fiber from Sky fiber and its been a big mistake very slow but the worst part is pages not loading across all my devices. The page looks like its about to load then just stops i have to click the back button and then try a second reload then the page loads this happens with nearly every page i load its the most annoying thing ever and sometimes pictures do not load at all. so at least 10 phone call to EE in the first 14 days of my contract and they kept on saying its because the line was trying to balance its self out and find me the best speed. After the 14 day period this was still happening and is even happening today guess what EE do not care and i cant cancel as its out of the 14 day cooling off period. They just fobbed me off until the cooling off period was up the worst customer service iv come across in a long time.
sam_of_london
15 Apr 17#47
It is not the EE network like mobile phone. It is the BT network. EE are just reselling as they are now owned by BT. I get 150 speed now with Virgin. Why should I go to 66 speed with BT or EE even through I have Mobile sim from them. BT is only good where they gave G. Fast trial. But that is not only 1% of the country.

Most providers use the BT Openreach network. That's like saying BT are hiding behind TalkTalk and Sky. Most people complaining about speeds are the one's that use ADSL in a slow speed area due to distance from the exchange, where Fibre would be highly recommended.

Guys, no matter how tempting is this offer, please dont sign up EE Broadband. Doesnt matter if they have been bought by BT, their management remains the same, customer remains the same (somewhere in India). You just wait for things to go slow (your broadband speed and it happen very frequently) or to break and experience the worst technical support and customer care (all the call lands to India). This is from my personal experience and then pain of getting tied up in 12 months contract. 18 months of pain for that amazon cashback of £150 is not worth.

Told them I could get better elsewhere and they weren't interested in keeping me. I would've been happy to sign up with BT for another 24mths if they had of matched, or nearly matched, the EE offer, as I've never had a problem in 3 years, and consistently get 75+ Meg.

I find it strange that BT make hardly any effort to keep customers. I only signed up with BT in November, got connected just before Christmas, and then notification of price rise 6 weeks later. As a matter of principle, I refused to pay the increase and they weren't bothered. I would have paid more for the 76MB if there was an offer but nothing. The only thing they offered me was a new 18 month contract which was more expensive than the original and the increased rate. When I asked what was the benefit for me, they said security of knowing you have a rate for the next 18 months. When I said but you can increase the prices at any time so no security, they said that's correct!
Anyway, they extended my cancellation period (I'm still connected to BT) but they've put an order on the line to close it and I'm struggling to get a new provider to take over the line because there is an active order pending (i.e. the cancellation). BT say if I cancel the cancellation, my contract will be fixed until December (even if I switch to another provider). Only option now is to try Virgin I think.

There's been a lot of changes since you've been with EE broadband then. There aren't any EE call centres in India. All UK and Ireland (yes tech included). If there was an issue with your connection, it was either a fault on the openreach network, or just slow ADSL speeds in your area, which could be resolved by upgrading to fibre.

**CONNECTION LOST***
This months bill with BT was £54.90, so called BT retentions and best they could offer was £45pm. Told them I could get better elsewhere and they weren't interested in keeping me. I would've been happy to sign up with BT for another 24mths if they had of matched, or nearly matched, the EE offer, as I've never had a problem in 3 years, and consistently get 75+ Meg.
No issues at all and getting exactly same bb speeds that I did with BT and for a lot less beer tokens.
I signed up this deal and now I got two questions
How do I claim cancellation fee from previous isp ?
What do I need to do to get £150 Amazon voucher ? Will they automatically send me ?
When you call up make sure to have your order reference number & the date you signed up. This should begin with 'DKI'
If you don't have this just call EE customer services & they can provide this
Fingers crossed this works!
