You're wrong about Coconut oil, you're right about lard. I was actually reading this article the other day (See link below) as I want to be able to cook with some oil and since the science about fats we've been told is wrong over the past 30-40 years, I wanted to check which oils are healthier to use.
Science does get a lot of things wrong such as the Serotonin model of depression, so those SSRIs some of us have been taking, they're targeting a system in the brain which isn't the prime system causing depression in fact targeting NMDA receptors appears more effective, which is why Ketamine works and derivative drugs such as Rapastinel are being fast tracked.
Science is great and it's about observation and learning, overall it's a good thing.
Avoiding frying altogether would seem to be the healthiest choice. I dislike Hipsters as much as any sane person, Coconut oil can be used on the skin depsite various blogs giving it a high c omedogenic rating
I personally haven't tried Coconut oil for acne, as I use Black Seed Oil which nuked my adult acne so no point in me trying something else.

I suggest that you do some real research rather than just speaking randomly from the southern end of your alimentary canal.

As I am learning new things about food and I thought coconut oil was a healthier option for me. It would be Interesting to see where you got this info about coconut oil being one of the worst and how lard is twice as healthy. Share the source please .

coconut is one of nature's greatest gifts like honey and cannaboids
fishmaster to lindus
26 Apr 171#22
The human body has an endogenous cannabinoid system, which can be modulated by exogenous cannabinoids. Nature is synergistic meaning plants have evolved ways to work in synergy with humans for their own mutual benefit. I could be wrong but I believe cannabis was originally outlawed for capitalist gain as hemp (cannabis sativa) competed as a raw material in the paper industry. Cannabis was stigmatised in ridiculous propaganda films such as the 1936 film Reefer Madness which tells an entirely false story about Cannabis.
So natural plants with natural compounds exerting natural effects on the human body, the real threat is from synthetic cannabinoids such as Spice which is actually an umbrella term for a multitude of varying synthetic cannabinoids.

I would offer that buying really cheap and highly processed oil is a bad idea. I've been on my soapbox about good quality coconut oil quite a few times on here and here's a shorter example which may give you "food for thought" or not. hahahaha
This listing is a bit misleading as the oil is location specific. It never appears as a valid listed item for either of the stores that I visit. [Have had the same problem this last week with Cornish Brie - available in Bury but I've not been able to find it anywhere else.]

Try it for a week and judge for yourself. What do you have to lose (apart from the cost of some decent quality oil) and, who knows, you might even find it gives you a benefit.

I'm weighing up between the advice I've had of putting my hand in a fire and pulling oil through my teeth for 5 minutes a day, it's a tough one but I reckon yours is the safer plan so I'm going with your plan, don't let me down.
cibarious
26 Apr 171#27
Well, if you do decide to also try the hand in the fire routine, you can always use some of the coconut oil to sooth the burns - it's really good for the skin (and hair too).

Who cares about your 33 years of research if your not helping anyone? If someone asks for help you give it. That's just what I'd do as a person though. If someone asks me something I love giving advice, makes me feel good that someone has learnt something new from me. Imagine a world full of you. People who only "look after their own" as you put it. You done 33 years for good soul stuff but don't put out positive soul vibes.

I'll do it tomorrow. And you'll actually listen? And it's by a professor of nutrition and current research, and shows coconut oil raises LDL cholesterol majorly over the one factor in it that reduces it - and it's 89% saturated fat and that's bad fat, none of it treated by the body as medium or short chain triglycerides.
If you want to jump the gun look for Professor Claire Collins. Sadly it's like saying Father Christmas doesn't exist by telling the truth about coconut oil because people just want to believe something out there so simple can make their lives better - and sadly that's what's preyed upon.

Of course I will listen. New info is very interesting. As I train quite a lot nutrition is part of my day to day life and my fitness routine. So many people don't like to be told something different than what they think is right, I was once like that myself. But then you realise you learn so much more when you listen. Thanks for the heads up, I will do my research on Claire Collins.

Weirdly, you might not find it in the food isle. The Five Ways branch had it with the hair products - but its exactly the same coconut oil that I've been stir-frying with for the last couple of years.

That possibly explains your nym and your avatar as, in the majority of cases, the culinary product is more carefully made!
Speaking for myself, I would never ever cook with the oil found in that aisle nor with the cheap KTC oil. Having said that, I use the stuff that I cook with on my hair and my skin and both are in fine form, as my avatar and nym attest.:smile::smile::smile:

for a marketing fad it wud be more expensive. all eastern countries oil pull and live longer as it does get rid of toxins, rids bad breath and harmful bacteria aswell as whitens teeth and helps protect from cavities. many benefits not just oil pulling.
