The specifications of the TV's seem to be identical, check it out here.

The only difference I can see is a slight difference in appearance like the bezel etc.

Do you know the difference between UH630V and UH635V ?
Termiator
14 Apr 17 #45
Its a true RGB panel (Red, Blue, Green) so that's the norm. The link to the rtings site is for the uh7700 (us model) and this has the correct pixel structure like our TV's and not RGBW. I have been really impressed with this tv, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am
JCod32

Viewing angle is great by the way. Pixel structure is the same as this one by the looks of it http://uk.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uh7700

Received my TV today, it's bloody ace so far. I've looked at the pixel structure through a loupe and can't see any white pixels, so it's definitely not RGBW, but oddly, they go Blue, Green, Red. Know anything about this?

13 Apr 17 #42
Horses for courses, I guess. If you are using it for gaming then you'll be sat directly in front of it. If it's a family TV then it needs to be viewed from all angles in, say, the sitting room.
Termiator
13 Apr 17 #41
Hello mate, like I said the viewing angles go to IPS panels without a doubt. For me its the whole package when it comes to a tv and this one suits me with no backlight bleed or IPS glow, Dse, Clouding/ Banding Flash lighting, and my tv has none of this and would trade this for viewing angle any day as there is nothing more distracting than backlight bleed grey blacks and motion blur when watching a film and then there is the LG IPS RGBW panels at this price point that are not true 4K because of the pixel structure and you loose clarity and definition as I have tried the 43UH650V and when I watched a film the banding, dse and IPS glow gave some scenes a yellow tint that's distracting to say the least. Photographers and graphic artist use IPS monitors because of the colour reproduction but this is a tv and a different kettle of fish and is used for watching films, sports, and gaming. I would get an oled tv but my wife would kill me lol. I compare this tv to the Samsung KU6000 for picture quality and that has a va panel and is rtings best budget buy. My tv has a MVA panel and has slightly better viewing angles than va, the Samsung KS8000
seem to have rave reviews but cant stretch to that model either :disappointed:
MaximusRo
13 Apr 17 #40
Yes, I researched a bit yesterday and found lots of reviews saying the viewing angles are really poor on this TV.
IPS were and still are used in most professional applications, you can't really say the blacks are that bad.
The blacks and contrast on MVA panels are superior and always have been, but all manufacturers went the IPS route in professional applications for a reason.

It is very hard for me to go back to TVs that change colors went seen from an angle... no matter how good the blacks will be. I happily live with blacks that are not perfect but keen on having perfect viewing angles. I have an IPS LG TV right now and can watch it from an almost lateral position without any issues.

One commenter mentioned he has this TV on the wall, so it is just a tiny bit higher than his sofa, and the colors get a bit greenish... Can you confirm on yours, how it is when looking at it from a vertical angle? Thanks
Termiator
12 Apr 17 #39
IPS panels are easily identified by their grey blacks an bad contrast but good viewing angles, I have tried the
LG 43UH650V and that is a IPS RGBW panel and the viewing angle is good but grey blacks and bad contrast lots of Dse backlight bleed and poor screen uniformity. As soon as you turn this tv on you can tell straight away the deep blacks and better screen uniformity but viewing angle is not as good from the side but no problem from front on, the picture compares to the Samsung KU6000 that has a VA panel.

No Problems for me with gaming, no motion blur / Ghosting here and input lag response time is good.
I have tried quite a few tvs and my family's and friends tvs to get to know the best of the bunch and different
panel technologies.
MaximusRo
12 Apr 17 #37
It's not a sure thing it's an MVA panel, and as you say, LG website says otherwise.
Might depend on the batch.
It is also not easy to check the actual panel you get.
It is fairly safe to say it is an MVA panel, but not a sure thing
MaximusRo
12 Apr 17 #36
The best panels used in the famous professional monitors, including Apple, are LG panels.
They are now one of the best, if not the best manufacturer in the world.

Isn't MVA response time higher than IPS so not the best for gaming?

Not tried the trumotion setting yet as I use it most for gaming and it would add extra lag for gaming.
I think it helps for fast action and sports like football . Black level should be set to high if feeding a
Full Rgb signal to the tv like a games console or you will end up with crushed blacks.
JCod32

Cheers. I did find these settings on AVForums:

Picture Mode: Vivid (User)
Backlight:: 93
Contrast: 90
Brightness: 55
Sharpness: 30
Colordept: 70
Tint: 0
Colour Temperature: K50
Noise reduction: Auto
Mpeg-noise reduction: High
Black level: low
Real cinema: on
Brightness Control: off
Local dimming: low
TruMotion: off

Have you tried the trumotion on at all? or is the TV smooth enough already?

Better value but inferior image processing and features, LG webos has many options for calibration that vestel tvs don't, hdr and a dedicated hdr game mode, don't get me wrong I hate these RGBW lg TV's and for all we know vestel could be using these aswell and build quality is terrible on vestel sets and umc sets too I had bush tv in the bedroom and took it straight back as image quality and build quality was shocking and you can tell why these are cheap too.

This is a MVA panel and not the inferior IPS RGBW Panel

LG UH63xx

UH63 is also part of the 6 series. However, it is somewhat different since it does not use an IPS panel, according to LG. The company refuses to specify the type of panel. It will exist as UH635 and UH630, depending on your region.

LCD (not IPS)
4K resolution
HDR processing
Ultra Luminance (not in 40”)
110% Rec.709 color gamut
100 Hz panel
webOS 3.0
USB recording (only in Europe)
HEVC

I'm really confused which is the best one with too many models. I need a TV in between 48-52' with price range around 500. I'm also looking for good software especially LG or Samsung. please kindly can someone suggest the best one for my money ?
Termiator to pentaya
11 Apr 17 1 #29
That's what I was like with my budget and could not stretch to high end models for £800 - £1000. I Wanted HDR but the LG TVs around this price have the inferior RGBW panels have a read of this for an explanation.
http://4k.com/news/lthree-of-lgs-4k-tvs-offer-pseudo-uhd-and-a-raw-deal-for-consumers-uh6400-uh6100-uf6800-16649/
This model has MVA panel as IPS have grey blacks and bad contrast I can compare this tv to the Samsung KU6000
for image quality and deep blacks. but unlike the Samsung all three HDMI ports support HDMI ULTRA COLOUR for
HDR etc

If I had the money I would get an LG OLED but I think my wife would kill me. But bang for buck I think this tv is the best and LG update firmware quite often and listen to the public and that why they released the HDR game mode as
all gamers were asking for a lower input lag.

Not impressed with Philips PUS6401 range either as android os is unstable and screen uniformity is bad and recent firmware iron some faults but not all as when connected to xbox one the screen had a slight flicker to the screen when you increased sharpness. think I should get a job at currys selling TV's lol.

Anyway if it was me I would get this one but its totally up to you mate

correct, they used to be called goldstar and this is what the make:

vestel are usually a far better value and choice I think

11 Apr 17 #27
Still fine tuning it myself, if gaming on it use game mode and don't forget to enable HDMI ULTRA HD DEEP COLOUR
in the general settings menu for each HDMI port, its another good reason to have this tv as Samsung ku6000 only
has one ULTRA HD COLOUR HDMI port so if you have more than one console you need a splitter on hdmi port one.

10 Apr 17 #23
Thanks for the info. I was a little concerned about IPS for the reasons you identified and LG website states 4k IPS under specifications. This will be my first 4k TV so i suppose anything is better than my current set up!

LG site says this is an IPS panel. Does this mean it is potentially a 'fake 4k' model?
Termiator to tomarter
10 Apr 17 #22
Its not IPS its been confirmed on a few sites its MVA and its good as a computer monitor as its true 4K RGB panel. IPS panels are notorious for bad contrast and greyish blacks my tv is inky black with no backlight bleed but the viewing angle is not as good as IPS panel.

No problem glad to help it saves us all time and effort to mess about trying out TV's and taking them back.
I have read a lot into TV's to make my choice and don't want to spend a grand on a 10 bit panel with 1000 nits
to give the best HDR experience as its all still new technology and not that much HDR stuff anyway. I just wanted a
good branded tv with true 4k panel no backlight bleed or clouding banding etc. been disappointed with Samsung,
Hisense and Phillips TV's their quality control is terrible all had some kind of defect screws missing bezel loose smashed screen etc.

I tried the hisense 40m3300 before my lg. I took the hisense back because of bad backlight bleeding and dse.
Got the HDR update and it just made no difference and added a slight green tinge to the image.

The LG 40UH630V i replaced it with is superior in many ways, no backlight bleed or clouding etc better MVA
panel and more settings in the menu to tweak.

I have the LG 49UF850V and am having problems with the screen getting vertical lines across it (which is usually fixed by powering off and back on) and also it is very juddery when trying to watch something whilst recording. Would these issues be fixed on this 50" model? Is this 49" one I have one of the models with the poor panels someone mentioned previously?
Termiator
10 Apr 17 2 #9
I just got the LG 40UH630V from argos for £379 and this panel is MVA and not RGBW thank god. The blacks are very good and motion blur is minimal and cant see any backlight bleed and had the latest firmware with HDR game mode to reduce input lag which is about 20ms.

The specs of this model are the same as mine.

Comparison here http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/2ebbce1c

All I can say is that its a cracker and the spec is the same as mine but mine is 40 inch. You need to be clued up
on the models that have IPS RGBW panels as they are not true 4K but these have MVA panels and have a true RGB
pixel structure. For all you gamers it work great with the Xbox one s and all ticks are green in display settings and
Gears of war 4 looks really good in HDR its only 8 bit HDR but still adds a subtle extra punch.

Feel free to ask ant questions, but this deal is very good
