Anyone know what the 'basic protection' excess typically is?

Good idea if it works for your dates/city. I tried to find one from Leicester to Heathrow for August but the price was about £130. Did I do something wrong? Lol.

I've used this one way from Edinburgh to Middlesbrough last year. The routes change depending on where they get higher demand. I had a Skoda Octavia for the day but could have been anything at all! I'd say don't rely on a vehicle type, just drive what they have!

Works well if one way rental works for you with given journey combinations. You may get a few hundred extra miles but the booking is only for 24 hours. Plus you don't know the car that you will get allocated.

I have available source and destination locations.. However, even in the online chat, EuropeCar cannot confirm which car would we be getting. This could be an Automatic Ford Ka, or a 15 seater manual VW Transporter for all I know..
