What's this "all you can eat" nonsense? You'd think "unlimited" would suffice.
The phones are comparable, not worth the upgrade for the bump in price IMO. The S7 edge is over a year old, so the value has depreciated, and will continue to do so over minimum 24 month period of the contract. In short, over the course of your contract you'd be paying a premium for a 2-3 year old phone, with data that you mostly don't use.
If I were you I would upgrade to a sim only deal if you're happy with the 6P. Or better still, wait for the last month of your current contract then call up your phone provider saying you're not happy, you want to leave them and that you want your PAC code (this is the number you're given when your want to change provider but keep your number.). This suggests that you're very serious about leaving, so they will bend over backwards to try and keep you and offer you deals that they don't give to new customers, especially if you've been with them for a number of years. I used this tactic to get a 50% discount on my last 2 contracts with Vodafone, the last of which is sim only 10gb data. 2gb roaming in Europe, free uk and europe roaming calls, unlimited texts, free spotify premium worth £9.99 a month alone for £13.50 a month. Should have been £27 a month, but asking for the PAC code made them offer me a %50 to keep me.
Btw the beauty of this is once you get your PAC code your contract doesn't end until you use it, and it lasts one month, so you don't ever have to use it and you give yourself some time to negotiate.
Now before you do this make sure you do your research and quote deals like this one as ammunition. "this website is offering me this and that, can you match that?"

Etc. You want to challenge their initial offers and bring up genuine deals from websites that you're thinking about taking up, like this one.

thanks, I did try and update the link again as I'm seeing the handset for free when I visit the site but the link I used and posted on here puts it at £39 upfront. The link you posted takes you to the handset for free.
if anyone does see it showing for £39 upfront just hit menu and special offers and this deal with the £0 upfront is the first on the list.

I quite like the sound of the s7 for £25.99 a month on EE with 5gb data from the same company.
Also I assume if you're already with 3, you'd need to move your number temporarily somewhere?

if you are already with three already your number on contract or payg, as this will be a new contract you are taking out if you did decide to buy it then you get a new number. Call 3 customer services and explain things when you are putting in the cancellation for the old contract and they will shift your old number over to the new contract. Exactly what I did with my old contract.

Depends what allowance you get with your 6P. The phone is decent though. Personally I'd want the Advanced Plan as 30GB is a lot to use without those extra features.

5Gb data, unlimited texts/calls. Personally I rarely use the latter and have only gone over 5Gb on three occasions in two years. I can tether from the wife's phone during those occasions.
So your saying this price is more at the data, rather than spec of the phone?

The Nexus 6P is a good handset and has similar performance to the S7 Edge from personal experience, mainly because the S7 Edge is hampered with the TouchWiz interface but it does have expandable memory and waterproofing, two features I like a lot.
Also, I had a look and the Advanced version of this plan is £48/month... don't know why the price difference but if I have 30GB, I will sure want to tether...

I think you can get the same deal at affordablemobiles with £42 tcb cashback making this 678 total... it's either affordablemobiles or one of the other cheap contract resellers.. search on moneysupermarket and you should see who else sells this deal....

Anyone know how much it is if you buy this plan to upgrade the tariff to Advanced? I think Three charges between £3-6/month more for Advanced over Essential but don't want the risk really. I would definitely like Feel at Home and tethering.

Yes. That's my concern as well. You need an Advanced plan, not an Essential like this, which is why I haven't bitten yet. If you need tethering, return it if you still can - unless someone knows of a way of bypassing this restriction.

What is more when I started with them they were considered a joke now they are the best network in that I go walking all over and very rarely lose signal.
Weirdly there are 2 blackspots close to where I live but only a few metres. Both in this small local supermarkets. Hmmm

I think you have 14 days cooling off period. If not and if you must tether then have a look at FoxFi to get around this or maybe you can pay a little more and upgrade with the network to a better plan direct. The S7 Edge is a very good phone though, I liked mine til it broke but due to the QC issues, I would only ever buy one from new now.

Three are quite clever but it could be deep-packet analysis among other methods. I guess even if you do get away with it, the last thing you need is a network fine or 'out of bundle' data charges if they happen to figure out. The only surefire way to get around it would be encrypted VPN or having an Advanced Plan.
