I have to go with the negatives here; Asus are very poor in the after sales and update departments. Once they ship a product, apart from emergency patches and the like you will find it very hard to keep your system up-to-date stability and security wise.

I had an Asus Transformer TF701 with keyboard...£250...lovely device until it failed within the first year...they tried to fix it 3 times before refusing to try again as it was then out of warranty...yeah I know I have consumer rights but they don't care. then there was my Asus nexus 7 which they made unusable with a firmware update. Never again.

Have to agree. Qhd is nonsense on a screen this size. Shame about the ssd needing an immediate upgrade. Otherwise a nice machine.

Nice looking device , and lighter than a MacBook Air (just)!

The screen is unnecessarily high resolution though. It'll have a serious impact on the battery. FHD or even QHD would be more than suffice for most I think!

I bought this on Black Friday. It was nice but when I changed mine into tablet mode a popup would say that the keyboard had been disabled, then enabled again, then disabled again and so on every second. Basically, the keyboard and mousepad weren’t disabled in tablet mode which was annoying. I had already decided to send it back so didn’t explore the matter further.

I'm after smething similar but i3 will do and came across a Medion Akoya S3409 i3 for under £400 and wondered what people's opinions are and is there anything better for the money?

You're paying a premium here for the admittedly nice build quality/metal chassis and very overkill display resolution. The 6200u is the standard budget i5 they stick in laptops to get the 'i5' label, and the 128gb ssd should really be 240gb at this price.

Thanks, that's the one :smiley: only reservations are I have no idea what Medion are like and from reviews I've read it's seems to be a 13.3" screen in a 14.1" chassis so ends up with thick bezzle. But it does look best spec for money and I really have no use for anything more than a i3 in a little laptop :smiley:

Absolutely appalling customer care and unreliable brand for laptops/tablets.

I looked at this and then thought for an extra £70 it's got to be worth going for the i5 8GB version for the ram alone. I ordered the i5 last night for £456 Inc. Next day delivery :smiley: after lots and lots of research I do believe this to be the best value 13" ultra book available.

After going from 1080 to QHD+ on a 13.5", yes I don't need to but the colours and overall screen pictures were stunning.

Not for others but some will love it. I would say I didn't need it too and now I wouldn't go back after using it.

Had this machine for a while. It has a lot of things going for it but in my experience, the WiFi is downright terrible. Any distance from the router and the speeds drop to ~1mbps, if it's able to make a connection at all. Placing it on your lap also hurts the WiFi, and I'm pretty sure it's not a defective unit since I'm on my second one. Even as I was typing this it disconnected randomly.
Had a few random hangs here and there too, not too often but enough to be irritating. As for scaling, 3200x1800 is pretty unnecessary and causes some applications to not display right. Many of them have adapted however, though some haven't.

It's an old Virgin Superhub. I know it's a bit of a poor router, but I don't have this issue with my Asus Transformer, my Phone or even my decade old laptop. It's pretty frustrating

I'd blame the Super Hub from Virginmedia. I have no end of problems with the Wi-Fi on mine. I ended up creating a guest network with different name but all the same settings, channels etc and for some bizarre reason that one never has any problems. Even on my iPhone trying to get to Apple verification fails unless I'm on the guest network.

Sounds like router.. upgrade to a dual band..!

Looks like an Amazon listing issue, this does have 802.11ac Wi-Fi & Bluetooth 4.0

Guess I'll have to look into it. Like I said, all my other devices are fine, it's just my Asus that gives trouble which is frustrating given I really like the device otherwise. Are the Superhub 2 or Superhub 3 any better?
