UPDATED THREAD: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/apple-iphone-se-16gb-almost-perfect-condition-o2-refresh-deal-153-99-2653254

Very good price for this phone.

This is an o2 refresh deal, where you order the contract and then cancel the airtime. Also can be unlocked from o2 for free. Please have a look at previous o2 refresh deal threads for more information.

All colours available at time of posting .

There are several tariffs which give this price.

I chose the 500mb deal with Unlimited Minutes etc:

29.99+24*5=149.99

Lets have some heat!

UPDATE CREDS TO OTHER USERS: buy the almost perfect model for £4 more!

"Perfectly Fine phones have been a bit more loved, but are still working well. They might have superficial scratches on the back, sides and screen but there will be no more than five deep scratches or chips up to 2mm in length. And you'll get a 12 month warranty to put your mind at ease."

Good spot, but you only get six months warranty with these.

I would advise getting the "almost perfect" rather than "perfectly fine". Extra £4 but it buys you an extra six months warranty (12 months instead of six).

"Perfectly fine" is the most BS marketing phrase I've heard this century. It's marketing doublespeak for what anyone else would call "acceptable" condition, which basically means "poor".

In fact, this whole page is a marketer's wet dream. First, the title: "Like New"... only they're not new. Then the stupid names as above, and finally the saccharine descriptions: "a bit more loved" i.e. "lots of scratches".

This is like the online equivalent of a greasy car salesman. I'd love to know how many people they suck in by using all this flowery language.

Plus, with the hassle of having to cancel the airtime... order this deal at your peril.

I have always had Apple but went for Samsung S6 Edge for a change. Can't get on with it, hate android! I have a contract with 3. Could I sell my S6 Edge to CEX for £152, take out the deal above, pay device off, cancel 02 airtime and then use my 3 sim in it if I get the SE unlocked?

You should have bought a Samsung Note 4 like me. Superior to any iClones out there even other Samsung phones.. - Infra- red controller, barometer, accelerometer, stress sensor, heart monitor.. Fully removable battery and SD memory card unlike sealed phones.. And PLENTY of free apps even the ones that iclones make you pay for.. If its a problem with Android then I feel sorry for the iphone fanboys as I found the iphone to be VERY difficult to operate.. No back keys, Siri and maps very poor against googles own versions and no personal folder access like on a PC including zero rom customisations!

- Oops not forgetting the silly prices!

Anyone who says iPhone is superior needs their heads examined! Yes Ive heard about Samsungs exploding Note 7's (Yes thats Samungs fault for not quallty checking) However when the iphone 7 had the SAME exploding batteries problem the media was very quiet! Hm, me thinks! ...Enjoy your O2 offer while I smile smugly to myself!

Only thing to bear in mind is taking out refresh does affect your credit score. I lost a few points as I did the same about 8 months ago for cheap iPhone 6. So a no go, if you are on the verge of taking out a mortgage. Heat added anyway

I had that exact issue with the 5s deal on before xmas - cancelled the contract got the confirmation, cancelled the dd, then started to get late bill emails and texts which left a black mark for missed payment on credit record.

Took three weeks for o2 to sort it out and admit they had screwed up, now waiting to see if my credit score returns to normal in April

I do like the SE, and i am an android guy, but would deffo want more than 16gb.

Bit concerning that above point about the credit score being affected by these o2 deals, and if it might affect getting a mortgage, blimey is that true ?
Lukedotv to DonkeyKonk
2 Apr 17 1 #27
might be good for an old person though.
toonarmani to DonkeyKonk
2 Apr 17 #48
Why is it concerning? You're taking out a contract which will be added to your credit file (as would any other mobile contract).

Whether it would affect a mortgage application would obviously differ depending on each individual's circumstances/ credit history/ income etc.

Got to love the young ones  people always moan about the size of the memory, but if you manage it right then 16gb can be enough for most people unless you are stuck to your phone all day long and need every single app there is out there, put loads of music, photos and videos on it. Maybe it's a generation thing but don't think it is as my two can manage with the smaller sizes though, even though they can't believe I never had a landline phone in the house in the 80s

It's the price for the phone O2 price it separately, you pay for the phone and the airtime separate, click on the total amount on the basket at the bottom of the page. You can pay off the phone as soon as you get it, unlock it first and then cancel the airtime. Then have a phone for £150.

2 Apr 17 2 #46
Change the perfectly fine to almost new @ £4 more
1) Follow the get deal button, purchase the £9.99 + £6*24 tariff.

2) Receive your phone and sim card.

3) Put the sim card into your phone and go onto myO2 (app or website) and from there request the unlock code.

4) Call 202 from the same sim card as it will make things much easier, go straight to the I want to leave o2 department or something like that (I think it's thinking of leaving us? Press something) as that will connect you with the right people much quicker.

5) Tell the person you want to pay your device in full and cancel the airtime. They will ask you why, tell them you don't think the airtime is a good value for money, but you want to keep the phone because you think it's an outstanding value for money. They will ask you for card details, you tell those details and that's it, they cancel it for you in about an hour.

6) You own the phone from that point, assumed that you have done this straightaway, there won't be any charges, otherwise you will have to pay as much airtime as you have used.

7) Unlock code will come through in about 2 to 48 hours.

:sunglasses: Just to say I have done this before and got billed for all the airtime
and had to ring again to get it back.
some say to cancel the direct debt as soon as you have paid of the phone.

They can when o2 mess up, don't close the account off properly and trash your credit file which they did to me ... twice! (On the 5 and 5S deals a year apart!). Sorted in the end but you need to keep an eye on bank accounts and your O2 account to make sure everything is finished correctly. Still worth the hassle for the deal but just be cautious.

this is a great price for the phone but having done the refresh deal for a brand new s7 I'm not sure I can be doing with the hassle again - I got there in the end but it took numerous phone calls and live chats to get the airtime completely cancelled and not have the first month charged to me - think I still ended up paying about £3 (not a big amount I know) for a couple of days worth of airtime even though I cancelled it immediately

Just paid mine off and disconnected the SIM.

First agent I spoke to in South Africa was a first class pillock, refused to allow me to pay off the device as I haven't used it yet (I haven't received it yet). Refused to put me through to cancellations, refused to put me through to a supervisor, then hung up on me. Awful service.

Rang back and spoke to an absolute diamond geezer in Leeds. He knew all about this deal on HUKD and was thinking of getting one himself. I know he's reading this so - my friend - you're a top bloke. All O2 staff should be like you. Big up yourself. To your sup: this guy is friendly, understanding, empathetic and a great ambassador for O2. A pay rise is in order wink wink.

He transferred me through to cancellations, I paid off the device and I took a PAC code. Why? Refresh cancellations when keeping the device and cancelling the SIM attract a mandatory 30 days notice period (30 days line rental). But if you port the number out you're only billed for line rental while with O2 (so it will be three days, not 30). Never used to be like this, apparently it's a recent change. No biggy, I have a few Three SIMs knocking about. I'll just port the O2 number to one of those.

Job done.

I have noticed those O2 refresh deals once cancelled is negatively affecting your credit report by massively decreasing the average of 'credit accounts,' the higher the better. I used to have 64 months, after I did some O2 refresh which all counted as one, I am down to average age of 21 months. This is very silly

Good point. Think it only needs to run for 2 months before paying out so could be worth letting it run.

In my case I left the SD in place and they still put missed payments on my credit file despite me not owing them anything and the online account not showing any payments smudge. Sign up to MSE Money Club, ClearScore and Noddle for free credit reports. In the end they sorted it but I was not looking st my reports regularly before this and only found out I had an error on my file when I was rejected for a new current account.

No just the USB wire.

Does say if you take the receipt to an O2 store they discount a charger for you, I'd expect still cheaper online though.

Luckily my work phones are all iPhone SEs so have boxes, chargers, headphones etc laying around there that are spare so will be using those as I ordered this as a gift so will look much nicer with all the bits.

Anyone have an idea how long it typically takes newly released phones to appear on the Like New section? I'd like to buy but at same time i think the 32gb might be the sweet spot as it will be priced cheaper than the 64gb but with a guaranteed warranty of at least end of March next year.

I see where you are going. O2 have a payg grade C Iphone 6 16gb for £189.99. I would generally expect a grade C iphone 6 to be in much worse condition than a grade C Iphone SE 16gb.

chinnabeetech to b_sinatra
5 Apr 17 #149
The time you take the contract the very next day you get a full months bill in advance that is the basic tariff charge in advance. But if you cancel the plan within 14days and don't use any of the allowances like texts, calls and data then all the charges will get refunded in the final bill which will get generated after 14days of cancelling the airtime. however, if you have used any data, calls, texts, a small amount would be billed for your usage.

Don't you have to insert the sim card to "activate" and call from that number to cancel the airtime therefor incurring some small charges?

5 Apr 17 #151
So I ordered a Grade B (£153.99) phone but it has only got 1.5 months of Apple warranty left. It came with battery charged right down. It has a tiny chip on side (not a big issue). Don't know if that is decent or not. I did 5s refresh deal in the past (same grade) and the iPhone came with 5 months warranty from Apple left. I noticed it has OS 9.3.2 - so may not have been used for a while (or the owner didn't update).

If it only has 1.5 months left - does that mean someone has been using it for nearly a year and then sent it back? Also once you cancel Airtime and pay off device - do O2 really honour their own 12 month warranty - as you are no longer in a contract with them?

right for those first timers on this Refresh deal

I've just paid off my device plan and cancelled the airtime
any advisor that tells you can not cancel or need to give 30 days notice is talking through there backside

you have a 14 day cooling off period (UK law) and its in your email

once you pay off your device plan and cancel the airtime, after 14 days you will get a "Final" bill
which should be anything from £1-3 (if that)

However on the downside, you need to be aware of excessive bills for early termination fees (several hundred pounds) once you get this just go on chat to 02 to get this cancelled

on a another note just checked the apple warrenty status, mines until 14. Nov. 2017

don't think so
did I not say, this is my 6th Refresh deal
so forgive me, I think I know
a) what to do
b) what will happen ***

I've just paid my device plan, the guy did mention the PAC code bit, but I just declined and said close it down, he told me what I knew that I will get a final closure account bill in 14 days, going from previous deals its anything from £1-4
although personally I always get this credited back as techniclly I have not used anything.

*** I will guarantee you in the next 7-10 days there will be various posts about early termination fee bills ????

I repeat just go on to chat to get these cancelled
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #177
you probably got through to a foreign call centre (its happens quite a few times in these 02 Refresh deals)

Does anyone know if you can pay off your device/cancel airtime without an unlock code? I have a bad feeling this is going to take forever to unlock because MyO2 just shows "we don't have that information right now. Try again later" under the section for unlocking. The chat guy this afternoon said he'd put in an application but he seemed to think it was something I could have done under MyO2.

I read elsewhere that people who have that "we don't have that information right now" message aren't showing "on the network" whatever that means.
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #180
in all the 02 Refresh deals on HUKD (i've had 6 now)
the general plan is get the phone
request the unlock code
once you have the unlock code
pay off device plan (this is usally within 2-4 days from receipt)
once paid off the device plan, then ask to cancel the airtime plan
then after 14 days you will receive a final account closure bill (anything from £1-4)**
generally you should be able to get this back (again via 02 chat) as you have not used any of the plan etc

then you have a cheap phone

** just be aware of possible early termination fee bills (don't panic) just go on 02 chat explain and they will usually sort it before any money is taken

there used to be 2 ways to unlock your phone, a general phone call to ask or via your online account
however now it appears they direct you to your online account to submit the account

You say there's no info/option etc
did you activate the iphone ??
you need to put the sim in the phone, make a call (call 202, its free) this activates the phone then)
hatchers
6 Apr 17 #183
Thanks. It's definitely activated. I have made a call (paid - using some of the O2 credit) and sent a text. I'm hoping maybe chat will check again tomorrow

If worse comes to worse what would happen if I cancel airtime and pay the device off without getting the unlocked? I ordered it on Sunday (they are charging from then) but they didn't deliver until wednesday. I'm a bit worried about missing the 14 day deadline.

Look Pal, I'm only telling you what has happened to me
a) tonight
b) every other time/deal (yes 6 deals)

not once have I had a PAC code
they guy mentioned it earlier tonight, he also gave me the option just to cancel the sim/deal etc, which I took
he did his best to keep me on 02 either via PAYG or with the PAC code

anyway, enough I'm not getting into a typing battle al night

just watch this thread in the next week (check other 02 refresh deals on HUKD) when people start to complain about getting an early termination fee bill ???

then come back and tell me I'm wrong
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #185
everything should be sorted by 7 days in your case, don't panic

usually when requesting an unlock code it takes from a few hours to a maximum 2 days, although they will say upto 7 days

for what its worth I requested my unlock code yesterday (about 17:30) I paid off my device plan tonight and cancelled the airtime plan.
Usually I wait until I get the unlock code before I payoff the device and cancel the airtime
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #186

Not according to the terms on the o2 website. Bolding is mine.

10. Important – your right to change your mind about the Service Agreement and Equipment

10.1 Unless we've said otherwise and if you purchased your Service directly from us (rather than one of our distributors), you can cancel this Service Agreement before the end of the 14 day Change-Your-Mind Period from the day after you receive your SIM Card. This is in addition to any statutory rights you may have. It applies as long as you give us notice within this period either by returning your SIM Card to any O2 shop or by calling customer service. Check our Website, ask in an O2 shop or call customer service for details of our Change-Your-Mind Period.
10.2 If you are cancelling under paragraph 10.1 you must return any Equipment that we supplied or sold you as part of this Agreement, undamaged, unlocked (i.e. free of security or software locks) with proof of purchase, in the original packaging and complete with all the original parts, within the Change-Your-Mind Period. You must return it through the channel you were sold it or through the methods described in our repair and returns policy. Check our Website, ask in an O2 shop or call customer service for details of our repair and returns processes. You'll be charged for Non-Returns.
10.3 Your Services may begin immediately if you already have a SIM Card or will begin when you receive a SIM Card. You can use the Service during the Change-Your-Mind Period, but you will have to pay for the cost of any Charges incurred (including a daily rate to cover your Monthly Subscription Charges for the appropriate number of days you have the Service, calls, texts or data, third party services as well as roaming or other usage that may take longer to be billed).
10.4 Subject to paragraph 12 below, if you cancel this Service Agreement during your 14 day Change-Your-Mind Period, any Equipment Agreement that you agreed to at the same time for the supply of any Equipment will also be cancelled unless you choose to pay in full for your Equipment in line with the terms of a Device Plan. Unless we tell you otherwise, w e'll bear the reasonable postage costs of returning the Equipment with all original parts and the original packaging as long as you follow our repair and returns processes. We may charge you the reasonable costs that we incur in collecting it which may be substantial. You must make the Equipment available for collection on our request. If you paid any money for the Equipment, we'll refund that money to you when we get the Equipment back from you in satisfactory condition (which includes being free of any security or software lock), less any Charges. In line with paragraph 10.2, you'll be charged for Non-Returns.
10.5 You have the right to reject defective Equipment within a reasonable period as set out on our Website. However, if you request a replacement and you don't return the original Equipment so that we can satisfy ourselves as to the defect, you'll be charged for the Non-Return. Nothing in this paragraph 10 affects your statutory rights.

Actually, from the bit I just posted above, it says the 14 day period starts the day after you receive the SIM card
qwerta369
6 Apr 17 #189
No, you're right about the erroneous early termination fees, O2 are renowned for that. But you're wrong about immediatle termination within 14 days. It used to be that way, but it's changed now. You may have got through to someone who just did it anyway, but it's not usual practice anymore due to a change in policy.

So it is wrong to advise people that immediate cancellation within 14 days is still possible. Now you either have to give 30 days' notice (pay the first month of airtime) or take and use a PAC.
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #190
I'm not getting into this now

BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #195
doubt it, as you are returning one (therefore that order is dead)
then ordering another, starting a new 14 day cycle

to be honest, very few do this though

if you are in doubt, just go onto 02 chat and ask on there
then keep the chat as a record (you get the option at the end to email a copy to yourself)

qwerta369 and BignRed84 -thank you for the discussion above. I am first time to this Refresh O2 deal, and although they said I need 30 days notice, it seems I have managed to get them to cancel tomorrow -7/04/2017. Phone, sim received 05/04/2017 and rang on 06/04/2017 to pay for device and cancel airtime. I had to ring twice and mentioned the 14 day rule, and also asked for PAC. -- Do I have to use PAC if it gets cancelled? As my phone was 64GB and cost £263, I am bit miser to pay any more pounds unless abs necessary. Pls advise.
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #197
when you get a PAC code (over the years I had a few on other networks) you get 30 days to use it
if you don't use it that code then is worthless, you have to request a new one (by law they must issue you one)

tonight I was offered two options
a PAC code***
or a straight forward cancellation (immeadiate closure of account)

***this may be a new system, but in the previous 02 refresh deals I have never been asked or offered this

I chose the straight forward cancellation
I was told it would take 24 hours to kick in (this is the norm) and I would recieve a final account closure bill in 14 days
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #198
a common problem with people getting told they can't cancel without 30 days notice etc

to me is it depends on who you get through to on the phone, if you get through to a foreign call centre
these are the ones that tend to give misleading information
if you get through to a UK call centre, generally they are fine
b_sinatra
6 Apr 17 #199
Is it true that if they send you a PAC code that u don't use within the 30 days, they would keep the contract open? ie not cancel??
BignRed84
6 Apr 17 #200
my last sim only deal was with Vodaphone, I knew when then contract finished exactly
so I requested a PAC code about 21 days before this finished so it would run over into my new sim only (and current deal) with 3
what Vodaphone said my contract would finish on that day (the 30 day notice) if I never used the PAC, the sim would become a PAYG

personally I would insist on a immeadiate cancellation to avoid and hassle and waiting around
b_sinatra
7 Apr 17 #201
The lady on the phone wouldn't let me cancel on the 14 day rule - saying that since I was keeping the device, the whole contract is not being cancelled, so the 14 day rule does not apply.
BignRed84
7 Apr 17 #202
sorry she is talking through her ....
under UK law you have a 14 day cooling off period
hence you can pay off the device and cancel the airtime***
*** it states in the deal, contract, T&C's you can pay off the device anytime you want

What time did you phone ??? after 21:00 (and the foreign call centre kicks in)

either call back tomorrow and speak to UK staff or go on chat
on previous deals it actually stated on the order process as well that you had 14 days to cancel

if only 02 call centre where as good as the UK delivery service

going to bed now, Night, night

I paid mine off and was told I'd have to pay for the month. It clearly says on their website you can cancel within 14 days including referring to o2 refresh (http://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/our-change-of-mind-policy) so she waived this after speaking with a manager.

Exactly

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THESE 02 REFRESH DEALS

IS THAT MOST OF THE STAFF DON'T KNOW THE LEFT HAND FROM THE RIGHT HAND

hence confusing posts on this thread about cancellations

check HUKD these deals always attract high marks (heat) and you read the same comments everytime

generally I find it helps to speak to UK call centre staff, think there open until 21:00
although its the luck of the draw if you get them

watch this thread in a weeks time, there will be people posting about bills for early termanation fee bills (just like in other deals on HUKD)
BignRed84

received my unlock notification tonights (slightly over 48 hours)

what you get is an email notification telling you its done
to complete this you need to put in a none 02 sim into the iphone
then connect to iTunes via USB lead to complete the process

what happened for me, I had to enter my itunes email (login) and password)
then then unlocked and came up as a 3 network (the sim I put in

now to await the early termination bill

Thanks for your advice about the unlock - mine came tonight too and it seems to have worked as I can use a vodafone sim now.

Do you think it would be alright to pay off the device plan on Saturday and then ring to cancel airtime on Monday? I want to make sure I get through to the British team for the airtime cancellation.
BignRed84
8 Apr 17 #210
No ring up later (Saturday) just say u want to pay off the device plan in full
If they give u any bull s@@t tell them
A) it's UK law that u have a 14: day cooling off period
B) it's in there own terms & conditions

Then cancel the airtime plan

The longer u leave it

So I got through to the "leave o2 section" today having paid off the device on Monday. I was worried about having to fight for this but the guy I spoke to was really nice and totally non-pushy. He had said that the airtime was terminated.

However tonight I still seem to be able to use the sim to make calls. And I can still log into My o2. I'm a bit worried it wasn't really terminated. How can you actually check it was done?
BignRed84
14 Apr 17 #214
Once you/they(02) cancel
it takes a further 24 hours for the actuall cancelation to work
you will notice the sim will stop after about 24 hours, it will change from 02 to "No Service"

if in doubt just go on 02 chat to clarify the cancelation
then email the chat to yourself as a record

Think the final account bills shoud start any day now (mines due tomorrow)

wonder how many will get an early termination fee bill (quite common with these 02 refresh deals)
hatchers
20 Apr 17 #218
So a direct debit of £11 was taken from my account today by o2 (which is what I would pay for 1 month's airtime). Does that mean they still think I am in contract?

When I log into myO2 there is a "disconnection bill" with a link - the link shows the £11 airtime. Not sure if this means I did something wrong.
BignRed84
20 Apr 17 #219
I've said this before in this thread or others
These deals are great, 02 Deliveries are spot on

However 02 accounts are shocking when it comes to
a) closing accounts
b) early termination fees (shock bills)

what you need to do is either call up and speak to accounts, they should either cancel it or do a credit back to you (this may take upto 5-7 days)

or go on Live Chat explain whats happened and they will sort it out, then email a copy of the transcript to your self

what you should have is a final account bill, this gets generated 14 days after you close the acount
usually its a small figure £1-4, although I always arggue to get this refunded in full

I told you all 02 accounts are shocking

just been onto Live Chat, and was told to await the final bill (due at Midnight tonight) then the £15 taken will be credited back
although this will take 5-10 working days

I was also told I should of cancelled the direct debit, I queried how would I get my money back then, a cheque which takes longer was the answer given.

Ahh well lets see what the final account bill shows tonight/tomorrow

Nightmare. Hope you can get it sorted out.

I spoke to chat today about the £11 taken out. I was told that

"your account has been disconnected on
13/04/2017.

Your final bill will be generated on the 14th day after
the disconnection, you wont be charged for the full airtime, the amount
will be adjusted in your final bill."

I'm just hoping I don't get a massive final bill like that. I'm going to keep checking my account every day to make sure they don't take anything. Did you get your final bill by email or was it showing in your account on MyO2?

as I've said before 02 accounts dept has to be the worst in the world
to say the left hand does not kniow what the right is doing is an understatement

I have just spent over 1 hour on Live chat, with a guy who made things up as he went along
wouldn't mind I phoned up this afternoon to sort this out, and was only covering myself with Live chat

however I got the dumbest live chat you have ever spoken to

btw, both last night and tonight I was advised to cancel my direct debit, to avoid any large amounts coming out

finally don't panic (not yet anyway) on your final bill (generated 14 days after you cancel) it then gives you a date when any money will be taken (in my case it is May the 5th)

Did your account get sorted? Only problem with these deals it's relying on the staff member you get when you call to cancel and how they put it through the system.
BignRed84
23 Apr 17 #225
You are spot on, o2 Accounts are nothing short of shocking the left hand does not know what the right hand had done

as for my account, yeah its sorted after
1 x Phone call
1 x Live Chat (over 1 hour to the most useless dumb 02 employee you have ever dealt with)
1 x Twitter Live chat

as I have said several times in this thread, the final bill thing is nothing short of shocking (early termination fees) and how the continue to mess this up beggers belief

try smartfonestore.com
they are reliable and legit.
don't buy from eBay because there is a real risk of phone being blocked due to original owner not paying the bills and you are on your own if it happens after 6 months.

this deal is still on.
it's not expired.

Quick question. Apologies if already answered but presuming that this method still works;

a) Is there a difference between buying the phone and the airtime and then paying the balance of the phone off a day before cancelling airtime and....

b) Paying for the phone in full when buying the airtime and then cancelling the airtime?

The price of the phone seems the same in both cases.
Tequila
6 May 17 #229
I got through UK call centre and the guy said I either have to go through 14 days cancellation and return the phone or 30 days notice and pay for the 1st month.he was UK CS and also arrogant and didn't back down.so the foreign call centre thing is not the case.

Just call back and speak to someone who knows what the're doing!
Refer to previous posts eg #187 and ask for a pac
BignRed84

Who ever you spoke to is talking through his [email protected]
Under UK law you have a 14 day cooling off period

Under the Refresh deal you are allowed to pay off the device (I've done 6 now) and cancel the airtime

Once you pay off the device plan, then cancel the airtime plan, the cancellation takes 24 hours to go through
Then it takes 14 days for your Final bill to generate

Call back again and again until someone who
A) knows U.K. Law
B) knows what they are doing

I talked to a second UK CS for 30 mins reading T&C back and forth,no luck.
they insisted that 14 cooling off period applies only if I "change my mind" about the "handset" and return it,otherwise if keeping the phone, the 30 day notice cancellation applies and have to pay for 30 days period.

In the end I mentioned PAK code and they transferred my number to a Pay & Go sim but told me they don't know if the 1st month bill is cancelled or not and I have too wait and see.

so annoying,I will never deal with O2 again.
I actually got a headache arguing with these people and wasted more than 1 hour in total chat and phone.
chat were agreeable, however couldn't take payments and asked me to call 202.

They were fully aware of people cancelling refresh contacts and so it wasn't the case of unfamiliarity.
I'd say it's O2 being greedy trying to charge people that 30 days to make up for the lack of profit as the result of cancellation.

That being said,I chose "Almost Perfect" phone and it is in immaculate condition, impossible to distinguish from brand new.
checked Apple warranty and there is 10 months left.
checked battery charge cycle and it had only 1 charge cycle.so brand new phone.
only if O2 CS were not such DHs.

Yeah,
I've said this many times over a number of 02 Refresh Deal threads
the actual deals are great
02 Accounts & Customer Service is nothing but Woeful

the fact that so many staff don't seem to know there left hand from there right hand is shocking

on a possible plus note, after my saga with my termination bill on this deal
02 have just refunded me £15 twice (instead of once)

12 May 17 #236
Good Luck with that, 02 Accounts are shocking
and to think th02 websites states No.1 for customer service (7 years running) god knows how they get this

it will all depend on who you speak to tomorrow, I spoke to the thickest person you have ever dealt with
I ended up going to o2 Twitter to sort it out
they took the first payment of £15 (they shouldn't of) then I got a early termination bill £273

eventually I got it sorted
they will tell you to cancel your direct debit, to ensure the termination fee bill doesn't go through
databar
12 May 17 #237
I know been there done it before
you know their trying it on but I have a secret weapon (which)
and recorded phone calls and the formal complaint and company complaint forms,
all this makes them complaint.
BignRed84
12 May 17 #238
You seem to know the score (good)
its amazing when you follow these threads and when others post the various Bull S@@t o2 spout

like you can't just pay off the device plan and cancel (not even though it breaches UK law)

I've had 6 o2 refresh deals, so I'm used to it and to be fair most have been OK
but as far as o2 is concerned, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing
