For info: Takes about 20 minutes of effort to download and install the apk's for Google Play Store, and I'd also highly recommend Nova Launcher instead of the default launcher (another 5 mins effort as you have to download another apk to override Amazon's lock on launchers).
Hi
the best case is the foam colourfull case with a handle. There are many in amazon and ebay. I was afraid of that would fit as they are advertised only for 5th gen but they are great and fit perfectly.

I sent two of these back and wouldn't get another, you get what you pay for and its a cheap price. Each had dead pixels on delivery and thats just an instant no thanks for me.

These are ret slow.
Got rid of mine almost immediately, even rooted and modded it was a bit crap.

I had absolutely no problems whatsoever installing the Play store on the latest Kindle Fire; no rooting required at all.
But personally I've only ever been rooted which I know works for the Play store.

VLC media player, SD card and a load of DVD rips = ideal travelling companion for kids on long car/plane journeys. It's not the best all-round tablet in the world, but what do you expect for £35?

i ordered this last time this deal was posted. i was disappointed with the screen and tapping buttons seemed off with incorrect keys pressed allot. it's low resolution too and lack of play store replaced with Amazon store riddled with adverts makes this a poor purchase. might be good for some but for me i wouldn't recommend it. there was a spec of dirt behind the screen so i returned mine for a refund. needless to say i didn't order another one.

This one doesn't have holes in the right place, lots of cutting needed and even then won't allow the headphone jack to be used without pressure on the plug.
give me 10p and you can have mine, its ****. cant stand the thing

You can cover them with bubble wrap, just make sure you leave a hole at the top for them to breathe through.

It has a sketchy reputation e.g. it collects information about the device and considering that it's very easy to replace kingsroot once rooted I'd rather take that route.
I also know it's possible to upgrade and keep root with superSU.

What's wrong with kingsroot!? I'm considering getting a tablet solely to use for a DSLR monitor as opposed to buying a £500 7" monitor which is a joke...

Anyone know what year this was released? I'm trying to get a kid friendly case and they all seem to refer to a 2015 (5th) edition but the reviews online were done in 2016?
For anyone interested in Google Play, etc. be careful about your version and do not update (I recommended avoiding wifi until you absolutely have to).
I was lucky that the last two tablets I picked up could be rooted via kingsroot but newer versions can be hit or miss from what I've heard and even then kingsroot is not something I'd like to keep installed and should be quickly replaced with supersu and the former removed.
I suggest checking the people over at XDA as that's where I got my information/rooting tools (I used the 'Amazon 5th Gen supertool).
If you want to update, I just used flashfire to install the update and supersu to retain root.
The 5th gen is the lastest version and it's from 2015 but revisions have been released for increased storage and colours AFAIK.
I have three in my house and they're fine for the basics at least.

Would've preferred the 16gb but it's all sold out so 8gb will suffice.
Does anyone know if the JL device is with or without special offers?
