The price is small if you mean mass manufacturing costs. But like every phone other than the Fairphone (yes, including the iPhone and all Samsungs) the price is high in terms of human suffering needed to make them.

Though I accept most people don't care about child labour, slavery, conflict zone minerals needed to make them and such like. Let alone the recyclability or high carbon impact of the supply chain.

Ho hum!

I own one of them don't worth nothing even 79 p. Is very slow you can't open applications, making the calls when he wants but not when you. Crap, don't waste your money. Better get old fasion Nokia. Batery it will last 2 weeks.

Choose a £1 Talk & Text plan and you can use the remaining £9 credit in the Play Store via mobile billing... or transfer £5 to PSN and spend £4 on Play.

Actually, you only start a plan when you make a call / text so you can use the whole £10 on Play.
Transferring to PSN requires a text so you won't get the whole £10 on there.

3 Apr 17 2 #28
Your credit won't expire for ages - only your allowances under your chosen plan.
If you don't start a plan (i.e. dont make a chargable transaction like a text, call or data use), your credit won't be touched.

To be sure not to touch your credit, you should probably start up the phone without the SIM inserted to disable moble data before it's available.
zidnrfhwvbytk
3 Apr 17 1 #29
Don't buy any of the packs but scroll down the page untill you see OR JUST TOP UP and click it. If you don't use your PAYG sim to make a chargeable call/text/data in 6 months the sim will deactivate and you will lose your number and any credit.

I thought about one of these for ages, as an iPod replacement. I use Amazon music and Bluetooth headphones, so a cheap android phone would be fine, but really I need one that supports a 128gb ad card, and as with anything on android, you can never get a straight answer as to wether a handset supports a card of that size. I decided against it, people say these are just garbage. Still not sure wether to try though, I'd be more interested in that refurb pixi4

as no on has said it yet, with the current just eat 25% off code text thingy from EE customers, even better deal cheap phone to sell for small profit (change of cashback tho you wont get it if in both tcb and quidco terms) *blame what i did at christmas for that with cpw and this phone with £15 cashback each* and 25% off just eat code for each order

tho you can get £5.10 from imutual

and i dont get what you guys are taking about cex dont buy online anymore i just put a sale order in with no issue (make sure your logged in to you account before you try to sale, or you wont be able to add items to the check out beyond that, works fine)

tdtl version as i know most of you hate the added words (of poor english even if a lot of my ideas are way better than anyone elses and some sites even steal them)

- 10.79£ from EE
+£5.10 cashback from imutual (and they will pay nothing in they t&c and even if EE dont honor it they will pay)
+£15/£21 *if you bother with the free unlock* from cex online *or £35 if you locked in the price online for 10 days earlyer but ya ya people that dont check cex and lock in sales daily*
+25% off just eat code for texting eat to 141 and taking down the code before you post off to cex
+£10 credit *£6ish returned* to do whatever you like with, tho i think the best is still impulse pay tho not explaining how to use them now they made it harder for private customers to do so *impulse pay are the people that ware behide the getpoundsback sms credit selling*

total £15.31/21.31/35.31 profit and 25% code off just eat for each phone ordered, cash back is paid on each order (until quidco and tcb get smart with they terms after someone orders 30 phones a month in dec anyways)

3 Apr 17 #73
Pretty bad phone, but if you can milk CEX (which I did last time) there are various things you can do with the credit like use it for Google's Play Store... https://red-robot.net/5-ways-to-cash-in-your-payg-sim-credit/

Keep in mind you'd have to choose the "just add credit" option for this - once you've bought a 'pack' you've lost it. And if you put the SIM in, keep data turned off.

I think about this kind of thing a lot. Is Fairphone the only option for an ethical mobile phone? I think it might be, I need to have another look sometime. Got a TV recently and went for Sony as they had a better ethical policy, and the plastics are not as bad as some companies like Samsung use. Sometimes you pay more for ethical stuff, am not so fussed to do so, but sometimes the price is not so bad for some things.

Only need to use it once every 180 days for credit, etc to remain - just a single chargeable text will do: from the PDF T&Cs:

"6.3 You must make a Connection Action at least once every 180 days. If You do not, Your SIM Card will be disconnected from the Network and You will not be able to use the Services. You will lose Your mobile phone number and any Credit on Your Account at the time of such disconnection will be forfeited.

"Connection action’ an action that must be taken to maintain connection. Connection actions include by way of example only, topping up Your Account, using data and making a chargeable call or sending a chargeable text. A full listof connection actions is set out in Our booklet of Charges"

used and tracked for this, tho they do every day for the daily cashback clicks they offer too (about all i use them for but 10 mins a day for £2.50 a week aint bad (130 a year, about the same time wise as people put in to banking for interest so ya), ofc 3 months delay but doing it every day will start to over lap daily) *for the bored of it daily cashback over a year would be the same as 4.3% on 3000 give or take a few pence. and not like 10 mins a day is hard to fine* **as i know people waste hours/days/weeks a year looking for banks with intrest rates / rewardv that only return from £36 now hilfeax have lower to £3 pcm, before the not worth doing daily click comments

Junk it may be but there are uses (assuming even in-store Cex won't take it) such as having it as a dedicated car performance logger combined with the Torque app. Cheaper small computer than a Raspberry Pi and you get a touchscreen, battery etc thrown in as well

yes point taken there is that side of it, i have two amex cards, one with barclaycard no amex offers included but no fee to pay per year for the card, i get 1% cash back on all purchases, 2nd amex i have is proper amex from amex, i get nectar points only, i have to pay £25 per year for the card, it includes the £5 off etc offers, so basically i have to do lets say use 5x £5 off offers on purchases that i probably might not have made just to get my cost of the £25 per year amex card, not too good if you ask me.

I have one of these.

I realise you all will not believe me but I wouldn't pay 79p for it. Gosh, it's awful. I mean it's really awful. I wouldn't wish it on my enemies. It's like someone took a t-mobile MDA from the 90s and tried to make it run android. It's worse than the google G1 was, I'm sure. Are you getting my drift here? You'll hate all seventy nine pence of it.

I bought a pixi 4 (6 inch) recently though and that's great - but then, at £100, you get what you pay for don't you!
The pixi brand is a bit of an oddity - some of them are brilliant and others...yeah.
The pixi 4 can play any game I throw at it - even anomaly defenders and monument valley etc. The pixi 3.5 can't even open your sms messages in a timely manner.

I'm so so so super seriously.

3 Apr 17 2 #122
your totally missing the point....

just because you buy this phone doesn't mean your poor. you may have an iPhone 7 or galaxy s8 but want to use this as a mifi for your car for instance or as a backup phone for example if your iPhone breaks.......

it's a tenner if you want to use the credit and flush the phone down the toilet or maybe snobs may want to wipe their ar** with it then go ahead

I know a guy who owns a £250k Ferrari and a second hand Fiat 500 does that make him poor and btw which car does he use more? you figure that one out

What do you mean by "just A-GPS"?

A-GPS is better than plain old normal GPS. It actually allows the device to get a faster GPS fix by using the known location of nearby cell towers. Seems some people mistakenly think it isn't 'real' GPS, whereas it's actually an enhancement to GPS:

A 3G MiFi with terrible battery life? Why not just use the 'hotspot' on your proper phone?

And if you had an iPhone 7, or Galaxy S8 (I use a HTC 10 personally, for anyone that may want to know) how on Earth would this satisfy you as a backup device? Surely you would get something for £100 or so, that was at least useable, because this certainly won't be.

I stand by my original verdict - it's landfill.

lol put a virgin 20gb sim in around £15pm, a usb car charger and set up as a hotspot, 2 craddles in the back for your kids ipads, they have youtube on the go your phone is free to keep your data, job done. 3g is fine for this I've done it using an old mifi.

next use your ipad as a sat nav with google maps and again your good to go, everyone is happy oh yeah forgot Bluetooth it to your speakers if your audio can take and use the google play music for 3 months too.

finally use it as a raspberry pi or hell just as a normal throw away phone, how people can complain at this is just silly. 0.79p technically for a phone am i missing something or don't these things boot up or explode or something?!?!?....

Its a great long lasting mp3 player.
It lets more apps installed than I expected.
It has two app store installed because the google one doesnt let some location aware apps be installed but the alcatel one does. I think it was due to missing gps chip.

For example can I turn this on put a data sim into it. Enable tethering so I can connect a laptop or tablet to it to brows the internet?

Thanks.

Use it as a...doorbell(duct tape will do the trick), a security camera, a mini big ben announcing the time every fifteen minutes, talk your ebooks or favourite quote to you as you brush teeth "I'm a champion today Tada!", to watch your pot simmering (duct tape to the kitchen ventilator looking down), punishment device for your child who yells iphone at you with big hams (dainty fingers only), practice flashing device (buy a pile, if you brick it, use next one, while use bricked one as brick), don't worry as its a plastic screen so nothing to shatter, 2factor authenticator device (as mentioned previously), AmpMe app on each mobile in every corner of house playing music syncronously, triplicate backup recording device just in case (which saved the day literarily) and as previously mentioned.......tethering device!!!

I'm complaining about it because it's sold as a phone and it's awful as a phone. Anyone getting one of these is not going to have a good android experience really are they.

If you want to re-purpose it and you have the time to mess about doing that, good for you - I mean that genuinely, I'm into that. But I'd personally rather be starting with a pi zero for £4, or a good old phone if you must, or an arduino clone or even a bare AVR chip than this for most of those things. The latter two take a lot less power too. If you're investing time in an electronics project, best to start with the right hardware. Personal experience but I find that's not usually android (and quite often arduino)
.
I don't see the point in using it for tethering instead of a proper 4g dongle either, if you're paying for 4g you would be better getting 4g surely, but each to their own. I have a proper vodafone dongle thing and it works well, I've found phones when tethering also work well but battery life is short and they get hot. The huawei mifi things are really good. Worth noting that in many cases it won't be able to charge fast enough to maintain a wifi hotspot, not in our car anyway.

All of the above are not the original intended purpose though and they don't sell this as "hey it's rubbish but you can tether with it instead or use it like a raspberry pi" - they're selling it as an android smartphone; which is why I said for 79p it's awful - as a phone, it is. If you're otherwise convinced then hey - why don't you get one and see. Try and take a few pics and post them on social media, see how that works out for you. Write a couple one line emails if you have a few hours spare. I have one, as I originally said, so I have earned the right to say "It's awful" and recommend people don't buy it. £20 more can actually get you a usable phone - albeit not a very good one, but usable as a phone.

I tried to use it as a second phone for a while but ended up with the pixi 4 as mentioned as I was a) sick of carrying a dead weight and b) wanted something I could read books/play games without killing my battery and c) couldn't seem to keep the battery charged long enough to make it useful as 2nd phone.

Not so silly then after all? Some friendly advice for you though - don't berate others' opinions. They're entitled to have them. You too are entitled yours. Make it independently, no need to pick on mine to justify yours. You'll find you get a lot less "friction" on the internet that way. It might also occur to you that I probably paid more than 79p for it so I am judging it fairly rather than "it's cheap what do you expect".
You do your thing, I do my thing, nobody calls each other silly, everybody is happy.

Oh and finally in answer to some confusion over GPS - I can confirm it has no GPS. Not A-GPS or GPS or anything. Google maps won't work other than in "I have no idea where I am" mode.

4 Apr 17 1 #148
I tested it out for you actually before I replied, tethering is available and easy to get to, drag the top bar down, click settings, click "more" under the wifi section, click the tethering option, I think long press to edit. Sounds trickier than it is. I don't have a sim in it so can't comment on how well tethering works mind you.

I wouldn't be without 4g but that's because they seem to have allowed 3g to degrade since they implemented 4g around here, I noticed this happened with 3g over 2g too. I guess they don't maintain the old equipment.
3g used to be a lot faster.

Personally I couldn't get this dropdown to work when I clicked on it (it's one of those that's supposed to reveal a hidden section when you click on the heading), not sure if they've tried to disable it to steer you towards getting a pack - but as a web developer, a bit of trickery with Chrome's "inspect element" teased the hidden element out of its shell

4 Apr 17 1 #163
If you call them up, they will send out the phone next day. When I ordered I (intentionally) put the wrong mobile number as I didn't want to get spammed with texts... but then realise they use your mobile number so the courier (DPD) can send you texts to arrange a delivery slot.

So I called up EE last night to get them to change the number to the right one.... the chap asked if I would like him to put the order through there and then... so I say yes, and apparently it's ready to collect now at my local DPD parcel shop. It seems when you place the order online, somebody still has to go through and actually 'place' the order with the warehouse!
hgthompson
4 Apr 17 #164
Yes and yes.... though you will need to get the phone unlocked to use a Virgin Media SIM in it.... this can be requested online from EE for free when you get your hands on the phone.

Someone from the ordering team has to allocate it to stock... nothing mentioned to this effect in the email received..... and today there isn't any stock available... So they are cancelling the order as the phone is out of stock... what a waste of ordering process at EE...

what difference on how long the battery lasts if it's permantly plugged in. also are you telling me that if my s7 edge breaks I wouldn't be able to use this as a backup just to make a call or text. So backup phones must be £100+ are you on another planet? you can but half decent window Nokia phones for around £40.

this is a bargain solely because you get £10 of credit and the phone costs 79p.

as previously said even if it is slow you put up with it as you only use it as a mifi, Bluetooth media player and back up phone surely it's good enough for that.

im not calling anyone silly buddy, at the end of the day the guy saying poor people buy these is out of order. yes there are unfortunate people out there who cannot afford the latest technology that doesn't mean people have the right to take the pi**.

You sound very clever well done, I can see you almost have a fetish for the phone and yes I can see it badly let you down 79p is a bargain end of. no need for 4g for tethering again end of. don't tell me how to reply to something on the net thanks and as you said each to their own and my opinion is my opinion.

I have bought two actually and will root and may look for a custom Rom and if they're that bad just take back or better still find someone like you and your stuck up chum and give it to them for free

Got my Pixi 3 today.... to be honest it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it might be! To be honest compared to other cheap phones I've used, I quite like it, the interface is nice and uncluttered.

Anyway I followed the instructions at http://ee.co.uk/help/getting-started/joining-ee/unlocking-your-device to put n a request for EE to unlock the phone, which is done for free as far as I can tell.... however when I went through the very long winded form and filled in all the steps, when I get to the end I get a confirmation of the unlock request, but also the following which seems to suggest £8.99 will be deducted from my credit....
-------
Thank you for your request to unlock your phone.

You'll get an email in the next three hours to confirm we've received your request. If the email doesn't arrive in your in-box, please check your junk folder.
A few things to remember:

it takes up to 10 days to unlock a phone
it costs £8.99, including VAT
if you pay monthly, this will be added to your next bill
if you pay as you go, please make sure you have enough credit for the next 10 days to cover the unlock cost
Why not print out this page or email it to yourself for future reference?
------

Does that seem right... maybe it's just old wording!

I rang them up and said how come you are still advertising it (be it at a different min top up) if it is no longer available with EE. I was told its out of stock but they were hoping to get more in. I asked that rather than cancel my order and refund me, that they re instate my order for the price i paid and i'll have it when its back in stock. Besides the original reply stating from gsmarena that suggested it had a GPS chip,
two others (including myself) subsequently confirmed that is not valid and those who replied were already owners of it.

Suggest when you read something and want to make a decision on it, it might be best to sit on it until further confirmation before making a financial decision on it. At least 2 or 3 to confirm or detract.

Though I was the only one with problems ordered 2 and got charged £50 from EE told them to return to EE also battery on the one my brother ordered is not working properly and keeps turning off just got it today as well :/

10 Apr 17 #242
I also got the same problem. So I called the above number and the staff added £10 to my account. When I texted AL to 150 it says "sorry we were unable to process your request, this service is only available to EE customers" I was like what? ain't I using your service already!? when I call 150 to manually check my balance it says I've got the £10 there. I think they messed up some settings.
superivanho
10 Apr 17 1 #243
do you have problems getting your balance info when texting AL to 150? Mine doesn't work but when I rang 150 manually the automated system told me I have credits there. I can't top up PSN with any amount as well.

i just dial 150 and get the balance can't be bothered with the text.

I wasn't waiting for credit I was waiting for the actual phone lol. Nightmare. Call the number, The lady took about 20 minutes then said she's putting my order through. I told her the money was taken out of my account on the 5th and she kept tell me that's impossible, Almost as if I didn't make an order or it was never sent. Anyway, she tried to put the order through and it declined. She then told me to call back when I could make payment as if I didn't have £10.79 in my bank cheeky. So I double checked my bank and I was right, payment was taken on the 5th. So I called back and spoke to a much more helpful lady who went through everything. They don't know what happened whether it was sent or not. but they had my money. She went to talk to the manager and called me back 15 mins later and sorted it all and sent another next day delivery, so hopefully, I should get it in the morning.

Still waiting for the phone. If EE dont give the phone or refund the money, please report them to Trading Standards.

Spoke to a very nice lady who had to do my order again. Been quite a long wait. Guess the first time round phonecall had to be done again. Was told to expect delivery tomorrow.
Could I have raised a fuss? Yes. But keeping calm, staying unruffled
and me and the sweet EE lady had a great chat.
Oh, I forgot to ask her for her phone number. Oops.

12 Apr 17 1 #251
I'm actually messaging on the phone right now preloaded with SwiftKey allowing me to be able to load a priority moment from o2 this phone is far better than what a lot of people have whined about people this phone is 79p please get a reality check the battery and charger are wort more on there own
tmohammad
12 Apr 17 #252
I agree, Its quite a nice small phone. I plan to use it as a device to stream music to my Bluetooth speaker. Its well worth the money!

I have registered online and applied for the free Unlock code. Once I have that, it can be used as a cheap holiday phone too! Anyone know how long the Unlock code will take?
zidnrfhwvbytk
12 Apr 17 #253
Up to 10 days according to EE website. (I wait for the code too, hope to get it by Friday)
hgthompson
12 Apr 17 #254
Did it mention any cost when you went through the EE link for the Free unlock code? For me, it suggested no cost until I got right to the confirmation screen at the end when it suggested there was a cost of £9.99 I think it was... but by that time it was too late!

Anyway, requested the unlock code last Wednesday, still waiting.....

But yes I agree, for 79p it's quite a nice little phone.
tmohammad
12 Apr 17 #255
On their website it says:

Pay as you go

If you’re on pay as you go, you can unlock your phone as soon as you get it, as long as it’s locked to EE, Orange or T-Mobile. Your pay as you go account must be registered with your details for us to unlock a pay as you go device.

You must also ensure the device has not been reported as lost or stolen.

There are no charges for unlocking for pay as you go devices bought from EE and our indirect partners. We’ll need to check other devices to confirm where and when they were bought. Pay monthly devices used on pay as you go will be subject to pay monthly rules and checks.

Pay monthly

If you’re on pay monthly, you need to have had the device you require to be unlocked for at least six months before you can have it unlocked. After that six months, if you’re within contract, the cost to unlock your device is £8.99. This charge will be applied to your account once the unlock code has been provided and will show on your next bill.
johnb667
12 Apr 17 #256
Now that's what I call giving people information they need nice one I was wondering how much an unlocking code for this was going to be i thought I would have to pay £8.99 and you have cleared it up for me so thank you also I have a Sim card with O2 that i use for priority moments so I have just got a £4 Easter egg free from Thornton thanks to this lovely little device it's paying for itself already
tmohammad
12 Apr 17 #257
Presumably you have the Unlock code to run the O2 SIM in it?
johnb667
12 Apr 17 #258
Well that's the thing if you don't need the unlock code because if you put the Sim into a standard phone that you can use on O2 you get sent to verification code to activate the priority moment so all you have to do is put the activation code into the app when you request it and your done

Never received my phone, nor any communication from them after I received the 'successful order' email from them 10 days ago. I phoned them Friday, to be told phone is out of stock, despite it showing as in stock on their website. I then spoke to their online chat, who said the phone is in stock. I sent a copy of this chat to their customer services email address, to receive a reply today, saying order cancelled as it is out of stock. So I rang up pretending to be a new customer wanting to buy the phone, and was told it was in stock (hope you're keeping up)!! So I told them they were a bunch of crooks after he told me I would need to order again, this time with a £20 top up. At that point he put my original order through again with the £10 top up. Just had text from DPD, getting delivered tomorrow. And just to confuse matters further, they have just taken £10.39 from my account, not £10.79. Next step will probably be a week nagging them to apply my £10 top up. What fun - I love this site - and I don't really need the phone (but thought I'd give it to my dad as he hasn't got a mobile).
amour3k
12 Apr 17 #261
True say!.

But you can no longer 'activate' an O2 SIM anymore WITHOUT first applying that minimum £10 Credit to it right? (some year's prior, that was NOT a mandatory pre-requisite ... ) :-(
amour3k
12 Apr 17 1 #262
Oh happy day's, oh happy days ... (Sister Act Movie song reference).

All the best with all that?. :-)
johnb667
12 Apr 17 #263
I have ordered some more o2 Sims so as soon as I have checked I will let you know I have a lot of O2 Sim cards and unless this is a new term and conditions then you should be okay to do it but I will find out
doncoop
12 Apr 17 #264

try, bet you'll be fine.

How about £9 (£5 and £4) Text donation to Charity ? With GiftAid charity will get £11.25. Sadly cant use £10 as the cost of text is taken first!

Further Details Here
johnb667
13 Apr 17 1 #267
I would ring customer services and I would just be straight out and tell them I want to donate the credit to charity and could they apply a credit that is enough to cover the cost of one text message i'm sure if you explain the situation it can be done
kfs
13 Apr 17 1 #268
Had to ring them again as despite receiving the handset last Friday no sign of the £10 credit. Very helpful chap tells me it is in the post. I'll believe it when it arrives. I intend activating it with the £1 pack, asking for the unlock code, and then applying the remaining £9 to a different Orange PAYG number still on the old 'Animal' plan. If this isn't possible I'll try the charity route suggested above.
johnb667
14 Apr 17 #269
It worked!!!!!!! I explained to customer service that I wanted to donate the whole £10 to charity and the advisor credited my Sim card with an additional £1 which allowed me to make that £10 donation
tmohammad
14 Apr 17 #270
Well done
johnb667
14 Apr 17 #271
What I would advise is to ring EE customer service and ask them to remove the bundle from your SIM card before putting the SIM card in the phone because once the SIM card is in the phone if you activate the bundle and then you have to go back to customer service to have it removed therefore it easier to remove the Bundle before you put the sim card in the phone
mickael28
14 Apr 17 #272
I thought that was the case, but when I applied for it, I got the message:

Any idea what they mean? Are they going to reduce my top-up credit by £8.99?
tmohammad
14 Apr 17 #273
Their message is contradictory.... I think the £8.99 may be an old standard message. I hope so anyway as I have only 50p left!
mickael28
14 Apr 17 #274
I hope so too... as they didn't mention anything beforehand, and I would have unlocked it in a different way if the charge that price. We'll see... thanks!
hgthompson
15 Apr 17 #275

Thanx for that heads up also!, hehehe.

I too had a load of old stock O2 SIM's (and now lost/expired) which had gathered up dust (on account of my still assumed above ... )

I'll order me a few fresh freebie O2 SIM's again, and hit them square on also!, lol. :-)

Today I have received an email from EE with unlocking code for the phone. Just tested with Three simcard and the phone now accepts it. Maybe a little bit longer than a code from eBay but well worth it. I have checked my EE account and no money was deducted from my PAYG balance.
tmohammad
16 Apr 17 #280
How long did it take... start, to text and then the email?
zidnrfhwvbytk
16 Apr 17 #281
Requested the unlock code 6th of April, 3 or so days ago I got confirmation text from EE and today (16th) an email with the code. So like they say, it takes about 10 days.
tmohammad
16 Apr 17 #282
Thanks
mickael28
16 Apr 17 #283
Thanks for confirming that as well... I got a conflicting message when I applied so I had my doubts... Let's wait then. Ta
hgthompson
17 Apr 17 1 #284
I also got my unlock code from EE via e-mail today... took 11 days in my case. But the code works, and I don't appear to have been charged so can't complain really!
tmohammad
18 Apr 17 #285
I got another text to say that they have to get the code from the manufacturer and not to worry as it may take longer than 10 days.
fagash1
18 Apr 17 #286
Why not just buy a code off ebay? It takes literally 5 minutes to get the code and only 99p.
tmohammad
18 Apr 17 #287
I may well end up doing just that!
johnb667
18 Apr 17 1 #288
Well it's up to you but depending upon whether or not you really need the phone unlocked straight away, I would probably wait it out ,
this is what doesn't make sense, people whinged, moaned, and complained,
that this device cost 79p and it was a waste of money,
and yet people are quite happy to say go on pay 99p for an unlocking code!!!!!
so it's alright to spend a 99pnfor a code that's free but spend 79p for a phone!!!!! is an absolute catastrophe, the codes FREE
So to be honest,if you need the phone unlocked straight away I would spend your 99p but frankly if you don't need it in a rush I would wait
tmohammad
18 Apr 17 #289
Sorry... thats what I meant... wait it out.... only pay as last resort
johnb667
19 Apr 17 #290
You've been great on this thread some users really complained about the value of the device in truth I would have bought more if I had known that it was as good as it is as I use the phones for priority moments for the kids, either way good luck
tmohammad
19 Apr 17 #291
Thanks JohnB667, I cant understand the moaners! Its a cheap phone that can be used as a spare phone, MP3 player, Bluetooth Streamer, Alarm Clock, Timer, Stopwatch, Micro USB cable, USB charger etc etc.... The list could go on and on!

And having the the FREE unlock code is the icing on the cake as that makes it the ideal holiday backup phone.

I think HotUKDealers expect way too much for their money!

I managed to donate £8 to charity (Could have been £10 had I known before) So for a little under £3, I cannot possibly complain.

Web site for details or give by texting "SOLR99 £" to 70070.

Eg Text "SOLR99 £10" to to 70070 if you wish to donate £10

You can donate £1, £2, £4, £5 by changing the figure at the end.

22 Apr 17 #301
Does this happen for you as well guys?

I got the code from EE, I put a different SIM card and entered the code. I got a failure message when I did, but it did unlock the phone, as I can now use different cards and call from them.

However, when it's locked I can see the new network and just below it, it keeps on saying "Emergency calls only". Is this normal in this or some Android models? as I've never seen it before...

And is there a way to remove it, I don't like having that message constantly there
tmohammad

Mines works fine as I would expect. I did not get a failure message when I entered the Unlock code.

Thanks for letting me know, it looks strange but it seems working fine. I had really bad quality in a few calls, but from new numbers so I guess it was a one-off rather than the norm. I'll try to use it a little bit more in the coming days, just to double check...
