I don't understand why people are going crazy about this charger....These are worst of all so called "smart" chargers I have seen. Second worst is Xtar VC4. They just looks good with all these displays, voltage control , etc...but they wont charge batteries to full, wont charge dead batteries and sometimes fail to charge even good batteries.
The one I have bought in Lidl 7 years ago is best of cheap ones and cost me less than half price mentioned here.

Got one of these. Not charging dead batteries is a real frustration. Will have to get a USB charger as suggested above, thanks.

It might work, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work but I've never used those adapters with this charger so I cant really say for sure.
I assumed the poster was wanting to charge their D/C cells in a charger designed for AA/AAA cells.

Why not take the AAs out of the adaptors?

Good price for this charger, also known as the technoline BL700. Worth keeping a dumb charger as a backup because conpletely flat batteries will come up with a fault and not charge in this unit.
Sweet spot for current is 500ma AA and 250ma AAA with Eneloops.

I do this as well, its a bit annoying. Even my 8 bay dumb charger does this too.
Some devices don't cut out and discharge to a realpt low voltage, these devices (kids toys!) tend to say alkaline only.

You could possibly charge a D or C cell by buying a C/D battery holder and attaching the positive and negative wires to terminals on a dummy AA battery and then place the dummy cell in the charger - it'll cost you a couple of quid but it should possibly work.

been watching for one of these, for ages, thanks!

I've found the USB battery chargers you get from the likes of Poundland/world are excellent for jump starting a totally flat cell - the ones from Ikea also work to a point but they're not as dumb as the pound shop examples. Handy considering they don't take up much room and these SC1000's have a USB port.
I have one of these, I've had no issues with mine but the only criticism I have is the display is hard to read, it should really have a backlight.

If you only have one of these and no dumb charger like me, there is a solution. It's possible to connect the positive terminal to the positive terminal of a charged battery and the two negative terminals together. Usually 10 or 15 seconds is enough to bring the voltage up to a level where the charger recognises the battery and starts charging.

Both had same problem as both has same charging circuit board and chip inside. Not rely anymore on these no name so called "smart" chargers. My old good Panasonic charger does job best.

I'm curious to how to checked the capacity as I they only way I know of by discharging a cell ? Also most Eneloops require several charges to reach optimal capacity from what I've read.

I've had a version of these for a few years, can't say I've noticed any lack of charging. And yes, do keep a dumb charger around for any batteries that are completely gone.

I'm curious if you two used the refresh option to increase charge capacity. I've never had an issue with charging my eneloops above the stated capacity.

Nope.
Charger just simply didn't fully charge batteries. First I thought that my iMac trackpad is lying in percentage, but then done proper battery charge capacity tests and it showed that my iMac trackpad was reporting true capacity...between 84-89% straight from charger.

I've been having that same issue and actually sent my Eneloop batteries to Panasonic for testing!

Agree. Had this and didn't fully charge batteries. Somewhere to 89% at best, same as Xtar VC4 which was good for few months only.

It has been this price for years
I brought one on that deal but it didn't fully charge the batteries even though the display said it was charged. 7dayshop refunded me and told me to keep it!
