Just seen this on the shelf and on displayed in Asda Great Bridge - this is a lot of TV for £420!! I asked and they had about 15 in stock the colleague said.

Looking at the score of reviews written by the authenticated buyers; Polaroid NEEDS to REBUILD their customer services. Their TVs appear to be NOT very durable.

OK, this isn't a thorough review, but first impressions are far, far better than I hoped. The menus are basic, i haven't turned the sound up (cos i use an amp/speakers), but the picture is really good. A little oversaturated out of the box, but a few tweaks and it looks great. Putting in BBC 1HD from my Youview box is upscaled really well with no artefacts. The remote feels a little plastic, but the screen itself feels pretty solid with a slim frame. I'm genuinely over the moon with it :-)

Cold - obviously not polaroid, just a generic panel maker with the licence to distribute the name. Might as well be "bush" or "alba". nasty.
nosamluap to usetheforceluke
27 Apr 171#54
I fully accept it's "generic panel maker" - that's exactly what I'd expect for a sub-£500 65" 4k TV! I'll judge for myself when I get home and unbox it, but for me, who simply wants 'large' because I sit ~7m from the TV, this is just the job

People chuck loads of money away on top of the range TV's in my opinion. I was round at a mates house the other week checking out his new top of the range TV. We were both marveling at the picture quality of a blu ray film and when your eyes are a foot from the screen it truly is a brilliant but as soon as you are sat 12 foot or more away unless you have 20/20 vision you are kidding yourself that you are truly benefiting from the extra detail. Add to that this chap spends half his time watching stuff via Kodi where you are lucky to get 720p it's a total waste of money. I spent as much on my 27" desktop PC screen as I did on my attic den TV for the simple reason I am sat about 18" away from it and so I really do benefit from the quality of a good screen the same goes for having a decent laptop screen. Only pay big money for stuff you are close up to not meters away from.
7777777 to presterjohn71
27 Apr 171#39
You are absolutely right, however for some reason there are almost no decent Full HD TVs launched recently / available thus I still ended up getting mid range 4K as I did not want to buy any rubbish.
Nowadays, the TV is more than a display, and the picture quality from a distance is not the only thing that counts. It's also about the warranty, suitability for gaming, sport, power efficiency, in-built speakers, reliability of software, connections, smart features, freesat, DLNA, remote etc. - it all matters to a lot of people and certainly to me.I am aware I do not benefit much from the 4K (watch 49'' TV from about 3m ') but I preferred to spend a couple of hundreds extra just to get all the things that I need , especially that the TV is going to stay with me for the next 5 years at least.

I have a :
2014 Blaupunkt 39 inch 1080p LED LCD a
2008 Panasonic 58" 1080P plasma (£4200+ when new)
2009 22" LG 1080P tv/monitor
2011 24" UMC 1080P LED LCD TV/Monitor and my mum has a 2013 39" Polaroid 1080P LED LCD.
Obviously the Panasonic is the best quality (I got it off ebay for a pittance!), but there is nothing wrong with any of the others after all these years. Perfectly usable. I don't know what people moan about.
Biggie Small's thought he had it made with a 50" 4:3 SD CRT TV, a SNES, a Mega Drive and a Green Leather sofa. Look what you can get these days...

Strange that I've had a 49inch Blaupunkt for two years now and it's never missed a beat....honestly these vestel/umc re-brands are fine, yeah you won't get 10bit picture perfect HDR, but they are usually half or even a third of the price. It just depends on what you in particular are looking for, this would be great for a family home, not so much for a videophile.
