That's a really great price. I have stayed in the Rio before, it's fairly basic but absolutely fine. I'd suggest staying a bit longer than 3 days if possible though as that would be a lot of jetlag for quite a short trip otherwise!

As I said, it's an overhyped tiny strip in a desert. Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Croatia all much better options.... my opinion of course

You can't afford a top hotel in Vegas . Stick to Portugal and Turkey where you buy your fake clothes . My opinion of course . What day do you get your benefits?

Vegas isn't for everyone admittedly but your statement is probably the stupidest thing I've ever read! Your comparisons are ridiculous and then you've used the word tiny when referring to Vegas! That alone is enough for me to realise what a muppet you are.
Anyway, I fly out to Vegas in 2 weeks time, can't wait to get back out there :sunglasses:

Pool weather with no beach :laughing:
If you want amazing Malls Dubai's are far superior (I hate malls though).
As for entertainers and blah blah blah :laughing::smile:

So enjoying pool weather in a cabana, seeing some world class shows, catching some of the worlds best known entertainers, seeing a wonder of the world (Grand Canyon) and some amazing malls is cringeworthy?
What do you do on holiday? Bingo and take your knitting with you to finish?

I have zero interest in going to Dubai. I will be returning , again, to Vegas in the summer. They aren't even comparable so what's your point? Horses for coarses. You would rather go somewhere I wouldn't, big woah, go you.

Been Vegas 5 times , always do a minimum of 8 nights . Takes you 24 hours to adjust to time different and jet lag.
Rio is 20 minute walk from the strip in the day , don't do it at night ! Lots of Uber's and Lyfts . But 3 days !!!!!!!!!!!! What a waste of time .

Off topic but where is the best place to stay in Vegas (on the strip of course)? Going there in June (I'm not flying Thomas Cook or using this deal) for my first time and wanted to know where is the best hotel on the strip?

It really depends on your taste to be honest as some of the "best" hotels could be seen as gaudy! Personally I'd say the Vdara as I prefer a modern hotel! The rooms are all nicely decorated modern suites, really spacious and comfy, great service and great location.

For standard rooms I recommend The Wynn for best hotel. However The Cromwell, Caesars, Bellagio and Paris are probably best for location though not as nice as The Wynn. If money is no object then a mini suite in a fountain view room at Bellagio or Cosmo would be great. If you are on a budget then Mirage or Treasure Island are worth a look.
Biioniic11

I guess anywhere on the strip will be fine. What do you recommend?
sonypc100
15 Apr 17#29
So you were last there pre Uber and Lyft. Now they exist a car is pretty pointless on the strip and only really of use as a day hire if you want to do the Canyon or other off strip activities.
janz70
15 Apr 171#28
wouldnt dream of walking from Rio as a good mile from the strip, free mini bus every 1/2 hour or taxi is reasonable.
never walk off las vegas boulevard after dark, it gets dodgy very quickly.
agree a hire car is quite useless - if you want to go anywhere hire it on the day = be aware grand canyon is a 4 to 5 hour drive away and thats one way
cheapest any time is 380 - 50 still good

I have been to Vegas over 40 times to be fair I have not been since 2009 but I would never not have a car it make severything easy you can still park for free at Tropicana and Wynn and TI

15 Apr 17#25
It's 20min walk to the Strip....clearly perfarrable to be on the strip but if this saves you a few hundred quid over 3 days not too far as far as I am concerned. You would be there for breakfast and then back to freshen up in the evening before going out.

We went to Orlando with the kids shortly after 9/11. I am filled with metal after a bad accident and always set the alarms off going through security. As expected the alarm when off and I did the stupidest thing ever when I was getting patted down. The guy was going up and down my back and legs so I said, "if you expect to get to next base you will have to at least buy me a drink". They were particularly "thorough" with me that day in our private room.....
We've been back 4 times since and I very much learned to stay on my best behaviour now!

A couple of months back we walked to the Rio from the strip (to go to KISS Mini Golf ), and it only takes about 20 minutes but it really doesn't feel like a safe walk at night time so I'd recommend using their shuttles or Uber if you're going to/from the strip. The hotel smells really smoky and is quite dated compared to most places but if you don't care about any of that then this is a bargain price!

19th May to 26th May from Manchester at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort 2A +2C = £443pp x4 -£200 with code, so all in £1572 for a week.
Oh and for people who are worried booking a hotel off the strip or further up or down, then Uber is your friend, you wait about 90 secs for one to arrive, and it costs very little if your time is worth more than the money vs. the free shuttle buses.
