Such a lot of kerfuffle about which aspect of this deal should be thought of as free and which is being paid for:
You pay £3 and get £3 worth of sweets and £3 of Google Play credit.
If you want both those things this is a great deal, you're paying half price! Woot!
If you want only one of those things then it's not really a deal but no harm done. Why not just give what you don't want to your neighbour or a colleague who did you a favour once and you've been wondering how to do something in return which won't actually put you out much because you don't really like them that much as a person. You don't hate them, you just don't want them getting the idea you're friends - you know? You just want to call it quits.
If you want neither then you really should be wondering how you got so far down this thread and start heading home as it's getting quite late and there are some funny people about.

its actually a £3 credit for Google Play so can use on anything, and current tesco offer means its FREE money... will be stocking up on a few more packets as the promo can be used multi times as well !.

The deal isn't on the movies its the FREE £3 Google play credit. Credit is free based on tesco offer.

Just picked up 3 packets. Got 3p club card points. Plus another 50 for using PayQwig and another 25 for doing the Tesco survey. So £3 google play credit and 3 bags of M&Ms for £2.22. Bar of the gain

You scan the qr code on the self service check out. It's really easy to do. 50 points every scan for a few more weeks.

Cold. Spend £3 to get £3 credit. Not a bargain.

You then feel obliged to spend the credit maybe on something you wouldn't normally buy. Far better to simply buy items wanted on a card.

As a subscriber to Google play, I'd be spending every month anyway.

Sainsbury's are selling these google promotion mars bar multipacks for £1 I bought 3 packs last night.

I presume you can use PayQwiq and get the 50 promo club card points on each transaction (e.g. buy 3 packs in 3 transactions for 150 points). If you won't usually use payqwik anyway and have time on your hands that's:
£9 = 9 packs of M&Ms + £9 google credit + £18 of Clubcard boosted PizzaExpress vouchers (or eatery of your choice).
Not bad if you've got time.

I think the confusion starts with the title stating you get £3 credit for £1 spend

Just looking at the T&C's and was wondering if point 4 meant that the credit has to be used by 23:59 on 13/08/2018.

4. Google Play credit is not reloadable and has no cash value. Google Play promotional codes must be redeemed on Google Play by 23:59 on 13/08/2017. Once added to a Google Payments account, Google Play credit and Google Movies rental discount must be used on Google Play by 23:59 on 13/08/2018. Certain subscriptions excluded.


I don't spend that much on the play store at the moment so I would need to limit the amount of credit I build up if it only lasts 4 months.

Sounds like you need to redeem the code by mid August this year and actually use it by mid August next year. Not sure how this squares if you have existing credits, which ones are used first?

Re comments about spending to gain.. was going to buy a £10.00 magazine subscription, so might as well buy £9 worth of sweets and pay £1 instead of giving google all £10.00

I believe that time-limited Google Play credit is spent in order of date expiry (earliest expiry first) ahead of any non-expiring credit, so you just have to remember to spend 3 quid (or whatever multiple you got if you're a sweet tooth) within a year. The problem is that it takes me an age to spend 3 quid now because I tend to buy 10p apps when they've gone on offer and nothing else :-)

Just used the codes to watch Fantastic Beasts in HD and still have 75p credit left over. M&Ms were perfect to munch on as well! So 3 bags of sweets and a HD movie for £3 is a good deal for me. Voted hot.

i already had a promo on my account half price movie so i bought movie half price expecting the £3 credit to be deducted as well which didn't happen so I cancelled my order and they took my half price movie promotion off me. not happy
