I don't have any issues tethering with Virgin even though they say tethering is not allowed

How are Virgin compared to BT Mobile? I like the idea of the rollover data.
Also is this eligible for the Triple data Promotion 5 that pops up when you add to basket? If so would this make the data 18GB for £11?

please let me know about that

It was 2G data, then add triple data promotion to become 6G data. Data rollover is great anyway.

i was a customer for about 8 years. the customer service has really gone down hill. i was paying a fair price, £9 for 800 mins and 4gb. but they didn't like that so put bill up to £36.. they wouldn't offer me any discount to any other deal, i could either pay £36 or move to any other contract, at full price.
they really **** on customer loyalty.
I'm not with 3, i have great signal, as customer service is really good.

so if your not with 3 who are you with?

I was told there is no customer loyalty (customer for 18 years if you include NTL) - and they advised me to call up every 6 months to get a better deal!

28 Apr 17#18
I am really confused. They would not offer you the normal deals on the website? Not talking discounted deals, just the regular deals? I don't even see any mobile tariffs for £36 a month....did you get a phone with it or something? Or was it a sim only? The most expensive I see is £20 a month, for 20GB data and unlimited minutes. Or was this years and years ago? I just cannot ever remember a tariff being £36 a month.
Probably my poor memory.

I'm not commenting on Virgin, but in general, you should know "customer royalty" means NOTHING to these companies.
they are there to make money as much as they can.. you as a customer should be there to get the best deal from them, the outdated assumption that because I've been with this company, or bank for x number of years, so they will give me a good deal is just not relevant in this day and age.
I'd switch instantly to any company, bank that can give me a better deal, they just don't care, why would you?

Yeah... Look out for that Three customer service... With them for 8 years and had the same experience you had with Virgin, if not worse.

The 6gb is "triple" data. It would normally just be 2gb

27 Apr 17#7
Not to sure the stated offer is or could be inclusive of the tripple data. As looking at the text and mins, this offer is comparable to the £12 per month 30 day rolling contract. Which dispite the 2gb data being crossed out and 3gb stated, has been pretty much this sort of data offering for several months at least (probably more on the previous offer) to the point where it could be claimed 3gb has been the minimal data offering for most of the last year, so standard inclusive data.
So would certainly not class this offering as tripple data against the 30 day rolling contract offer. I'd be inclined to claim tripple data as 18gb myself, if it is I'd just on this myself.

i'm all about tripple data! no tethering though. :disappointed:

On second looks I don't think it is 18gb. It looks like this offer is 2GB data (as it shows in the basket) but being advertised as 6GB inclusive of the triple data promotion for April.

27 Apr 172#12
Would be a decent deal if a 30 day rolling contract at 6gb per month like I feel the previous £12 per month or so offer gave data wise. Not fully convinced 6gb of monthly data for £11 per month in return for a 12 month contract is to much an offer over either the £12 or £15 offerings on 30 day rolling contracts that may well have better data offerings themselves in a few weeks!. So might just hold off a while myself.

I agree with you there. Currently on an expired 4GB for £10 BT Mobile contract, looking for a new better deal.

I took advantage of the 20gb rolling monthly contract for £15 a couple of months ago and have been very impressed. 45mb download pretty much all the time and good customer service. Maybe I have been lucky? Heat added.

I used to be with Virgin Mobile. I was paying for 5gb per month but they throttle you when you reach 3gb. When i say throttle it's stupidly slow. Never again. I'm with plusnet now and more than happy.

28 Apr 17#22
Not hot for me, 6GB/£11 on a 30 day would be. Plusnet unlimited/4GB £10 is going to take a while to beat, I can only assume with EU roaming ending there will be a price war come July for priceplan inclusions at low cost, guess Plusnet will need to do till then!

Can only assume the EE/Virgin contract renewal allowed the opening up of better terms of 20GB, the previous T-Mobile deal allowed the V £15 unlimited plan and they ended up throttling that too. Think EE has given much more to it MVNO these days, probably as a defence to Ofcom to buy ever more spectrum it can prioritise to its own EE customers, BT screwing telecommunications in the U.K. since it inherited everything for free from a Tory government!
Virgin was good for me when I had unlimited min/texts for £5 a month in a 2G phone (100MB) I should have kept that plan lol.

i called about this deal as i was still on 3g with double data to give 4gb for £10 but the last time i called they said i needed a new contract to move to 4g. this time they said i could just stay on the same 30 day rolling deal and get a new 4g sim free, which suits me as i only use about 3gb of data and prefer the 30 day option to change tarrifs, but virgin has been fine for me. a bit slow and crappy at times in some places but you will get that with most providers in some locations as you move around

£45 from TCB on this, making it £7.25pm...
dave99461
1 May 17#27
Content wise this is directly comparable to the current £15 per month offering on a 30 day rolling contract which even that isn't to good despite that the £15 per month deal is promoted as having an extra 2gb of data, offer has been far better in the past. All this offer is, is what a decent 30 day rolling contract should be and has been in the past, but they want you to sign to a 12 month contract to get the £11 price.
I'd have opted for this in the short term if on a 30 day rolling contract deal, but not a tied 12 month contract. Will be interesting to see what offers they do after this expires in a day or 2.

If they take (steal would be my word) credit from an occasionally used SIM and close the account, is it really gone forever? Virgin said "yes" when I called the day after they closed it, but EE have previously refunded & re-activated when this has happened. Just wondering if anyone has had experience of Virgin refunding PAYG credit (I know their T&Cs say they can do this).

I got this deal for £10 from virgin as a retention deal. They also offered 500 mins to 0845/0870 numbers too. Not sure if this is included in this.

Pretty decent, the attractive thing with this deal as a new customer is the £45 from TCB effectively making it £7.25pm...
Just debating if I should leave BT as come to the end of my mega deal which worked out at £1.66pm! Can't get voucher and/or Amazon gift card as existing customer with them now. They've offered £8pm for 12 months 4gb 500mins so the Virgin deal is tempting and only have a few hours left to decide...I have my PAC code ready!

Oh dear that's no good!! That's the only reason I'm looking to take this deal...! Dilemma now
I've just ordered...confirms as click to merchant (Virgin mobile) but not showing me the amount yet. If it does track as £12 I'm not worried, as Virgin offer a free 14 day cancellation/refund cooling off period so will just go ahead and put a stop to the contract! Will keep you posted

Anyone knows if Virgin allows calls over wifi? Signal in my house is rubbish so it's a great feature of EE.
Also, do they do any sort of wifi you can use on the London Underground system?

Far as I know Virgin does not facilitate call over wifi
Yes to both. Both are official apps you can download once you have your sim activated

My contract of this offer began today. I seen the window in the store window I went in to get it last month. I have had a text saying it half price for 6 months. I rang up to confirm, it's only 5.50  for 6 months

So TCB is now showing payable, but only at £12 not the £45 as advertised, the ****. I've opened a dispute but really angry, so underhanded. I took screenshots of TCB showing £45 so will see what happens...anyone else encounter this?
