Still showing available but 5 seats left - Your text here
We booked separate car hire through http://www.alamo.co.uk/brits which includes zero excess and a free extra driver - you do need to take a copy of the brits guide though but can get one off amazon for a few quid! We booked a 'sporty' e.g Mustang for a week for £186

We always do the online check-in to get the barcode...then all you need to do is pick whatever car you want in that category, drive to the gate, scan the barcode and 2 mins later off you go :sunglasses:

You don't need to actually buy the book. Its just a discount code they are not interested in knowing you bought the book. Saying that its a good book for first timers and worth the money. Also worth joining Alamo and therefore straight to the garage so no need to see any counter staff.

Just go to https://www.thomascook.com put in the destination, choose 'any date' and select the number of passengers; you can then filter by low to high

I guess it would be cheaper to get car insurance from external provider. Seems like there's other charges also like airport taxes.
At first I thought everything is included in car hire. Slightly confusing.

Anyone actually done one of these sub £400 holidays? I've been twice, both times flights with Virgin cost more than these holidays. Can't help but feel like I've been ripped off massively. These sub £400 holidays, even after adding tickets and food, seem significantly more affordable.
Are they worth doing? After adding tickets, food, and spends, what else is left to pay for?
Thank you.

I did one of these cheap packages last year, paid about £1600 for four adults for flights/hotel. I also paid £700 for a villa for two weeks and never even checked in to the hotel. Just liked having the option for a hotel incase my villa hire went wrong, plus the bonus of ATOS for a package holiday.
Its not a cheap holiday, Car hire and insurance - £300 for two weeks, Universal and Disney ticket combo £580 per person (depends on where you buy). Theme park, parking $20 a day. Poor exchange rate has put me off booking for a while, Theme park tickets have gone up by about £150 per person compared with last year.

Yep, we got the last week in August deal flying from Glasgow for £320 pp with 7 nights, i-drive hotel, and a 7-seater car, all for £1,280!! we added bush/sea world tickets for £250 off ebay (they worked) and did a fare bit of shopping while out there. our kids were 5 and feel that returning in a couple years for the 2-3 week trip with full Disney would be better appreciated. this was a 1 week taster on a Thompson flight and it was a brilliant holiday :-)

Hi guys i really need someone's help! I've booked with Thomas Cook around 10 days ago to go to Florida was around £600 each including car hire with basic insurance. I've just spoken to them after reading a comment on here and they've informed me i have to pay $630 extra for the car when i arrive?! Our hotel is a while away from where we wanted to be but this news has completely ruined everything. We can't afford to pay an extra $630 on arrival and so does anyone know if there is a way to get around this? I feel like we've had our dream holiday completely ruined :disappointed:

Book it separately at alamo.co.uk/brits - it is a lot cheaper and includes all insurance with zero excess and a free additional driver. We booked a mustang for a week for £185. Unfortunately it does say all the fees in the T&Cs when you go through the booking stage which is why it's advised to book it separately.

Hi, when me and my two lads went a couple of yrs ago, we stayed at the Hilton near Universal Studios, and they wanted €30 day for parking, times 14 days! So I swapped car hire for transfers, and bought the Hopper bus pass, cost me less than €15 for all three of us for the week-unlimited bus rides!

We took the basic car option and bought car hire excess insurance. far far cheaper though you need to know its not as hassle free. My issue was that the "included" car was being told to be a micro car that can hold 1-2 suitcases when in the paperwork, it was described as a car suitable for the number of people booking... I questioned it, took a print off of the assurance over email that it would be fine, then when we got there, found we were given a 7 seat 4x4. LOADS of room :-) I wasn't even pushed to buy add-ons. This was arriving at Sanford.
This happened to us so we went to the travel agent in the airport and they said we could pay to go on the shuttle to our hotel which we did. Our hotel offered transport to the parks and we used the I Trolley to get around which isn't expensive.

I'm single again as of a few days ago but I've been on holiday on my own before and it's quite nice in a unique way. I've been to Florida 4 times before though and if you're going for the theme parks, you get what you give. That is, if you go with friends and/or family, you get all of that magical family/friend fun and memories in return. If you went alone, I imagine you'd get quite little back, especially after the pice of the tickets all the lonely queuing, travel and hassle that goes into it all. As much as I would love to go back, I'd definitely only do it in a group.

I've been a couple of times previously and was thinking the same. All of the queuing on your own would be the hardest part for me. That and missing out on the banter.

How can they say car hire is included when you're slapped with massive charges on top of your holiday that exceed the actual cost of hiring the exact same car, from the same company, for the same time, independently of Thomas Cook?
Anyone else know of any other hidden charges like this? Thanks in advance!
