Great price for the very large Mi Max phone from Xiaomi, this is the 4Gb version not the 3Gb listed before.
Believe it is a flash deal so be quick

I have this phone too. Typing on it right now. Reliable and great specs for the price. Better than the iPhone over priced sh**. You get use to the size very quickly and you don't need extra special pockets.

All over mobiles feel ridiculously small now compared to this phone, I don't think I can ever down size now though.

Negative. Missing B20. Three uses B20 as well so this is a gamble with unreliable reception.

My mate has this phone on 02. No 4g but fine with 3g. He's not missed the benefit of 4g he says. I did read you can activate the band 20 on this phone if you root and flash with something. That's what I read, don't know if true

I have the 64GB SD652 Mi Max, great phone with fantastic battery life. Fits in my pockets though remember to remove before sitting.
I get 4G on 3, not that there's any issues with 3G speeds!

Damn you OP. £196.86 ($ rate showing on Halifax Clarity) and £12.99 pending with TCB.

My 2nd Mi Max, 1st one had scrolling problems in apps such as the google calendar app when swiping right to left and went on Mi forums and many others were in the same boat awaiting a fix and sadly this has the same fault.
A good phone otherwise, got the 4gb/128gb for £202 from Banggood so this price is even better thanks OP

get an Asus Zenfone 3 ultra. It finally became possible to unlock the bootloader, and get permanent root and install TWRP. This means that custom ROMs are now possible.

I don't see the point in keep talking about band 20. I bought the 32gb international version and works perfectly, everywhere I go I have 4g and no problems in accessing internet. It's a great phone and you won't want any other once you try it

28 Mar 17#34
I am happy for you, but until someone works out how to map areas for the band(s) of 4G coverage by network, it is unwise to buy a 4G phone for use in the UK which does not have band 20. For all you know you would get twice the speed of internet access somewhere if you had band 20.

I am not doubting you, but I can't find these & would like to read - may affect my potential choice of a Doogee Y6 Max.

28 Mar 17#36
Just speedtested 3G on 3 with 18.3 down and 1.3 up. You are correct, I might get double that on 4G though I have no use for it(unless my fibre fails).
jnm21
28 Mar 17#37
Or perhaps 3 reprovision the mast you use to band 20 4G! Not necessarily likely, but equally possible. Orange and T-Mobile users felt the pain when the networks merged - possible that the o2 merger will throw up similar issues.
Perhaps a 'good deal' from Samsung on the S8 will come with a request to utilise band 20 more?
damadgeruk to jnm21
28 Mar 17#38
Perhaps the world will end, more likely than a good deal on an £800 S8. Perhaps the O2 merger won't happen. Perhaps my Mi Max will continue to work as expected and I can live without your worries.

I have the phone, yes it is big. I am now using it as a replacement nexus 7 2013 tablet.
I have gone back to using my oneplus 2 - mi max is big and awsome battery. Only the camera is not great.
jnm21
28 Mar 17#40
You are missing the point - I have only ever bought phones with band 20 - they are your worries not mine. I appreciate that you choose to ignore them (as is your choice); I simply state the facts for the benefit of others who may fall for the non-factual promise that a phone without band 20 will work just as well as one with it on 4G on all UK networks bar o2.

Can anyone comment on the nerfed audio on the European ROM? Having read through forums it appears to be standard and unavoidable.
Is the camera also as bad/unexciting as reviews suggest?
mr_spatel
28 Mar 17#48
No andriod 7 on Mi yet - still in beta, its not very heavy - but can tell when in pockets.
Only reason I went back to my oneplus 2 was for size. I do use dual sims also.
If size was not a problem Mi Max is my fav - perfect for Terrarium TV on the move.
@bambulus - the audio nerf is noticable, but as I use and changed audio settings in android VLC. Bluetooth audio is low.
Camera from my 3 would be oneplus 2, nexus 5 and then Mi Max (bad at low light)

Band 20 missing is a big deal for many. I rather blindly used only 3G up until about 2 years ago, my phones all supported 4G but I was convinced 3G or 3.5G was 'fast enough' and my plan didn't have 4G at the time. Now I realise what I was missing - I don't think I could go back to a non-4G compatible phone now, knowing what I know. It's a shame as this is a stunning phone, well-specced. Why does the UK and Europe have to make do without these phones and dual-SIM!
bambulus
28 Mar 17#51
Thanks for the reply. May give it a miss then, low audio is one of the few things that's really disappointed me with my Honor 6, so not keen to continue that.
May just hope for a Mate 9 reduction, looking to be the best of all for large screen phablets!

28 Mar 17#52
Can you not accept that you may just not realise that it does make a difference? I can appreciate that it may not most of the time or to most people (generally those not on o2); can you accept that the one time you had jack all internet coverage, having band 20 may have made the difference?
Just curious why you are so keen to argue on a point that you likely have no way of knowing if you are factually correct on & worse potentially misleading others. Perhaps read post 50 - an example of someone big enough to admit that they were short sighted.

Apologies, I didn't realise my lacking need for band 20 caused you so much angst. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have the Mi Max and it's the first phone i owned without band 20. It was a bit of a worry and unless you're on ee then it will affect you a little or a lot.
I'd have liked to have gone with ee but they didn't seem to have the deals I wanted. I was with Vodafone but decided to change to 3 after reading a fair bit about there service and band usage. Although they do use band 20, it's more in rural areas where they piggy back on another provider's network. Luckily I live/work in a big city and my 4g coverage isn't using band 20 so i nearly always have 4g when not using WiFi. Usually i get around 30/35 down, i cant recall the upload speed now.
Onto the Mi Max... It's a big phablet yes, and there's times (especially with a young baby asleep in your arms) that it's tricky to use one handed, if possible at all BUT I couldn't be more happy with this device and it's taken me quite a few phones finding one I'm happy with.
I'd never go back to a phone that's under 6 inches now. For media consumption and gaming it's incredible. Battery life is the best I've ever experienced in a phone too. If I'm not on the phone a lot and hammering the battery it can often last me the whole weekend from Thursday night to Sunday night without a charge. I've never had to charge it in the day either, even when using it for tethering and gaming etc.
