will this still work once the 'snap' function is taken out in the next update?

Most likely, just not at the same time as playing something.

Would be a lot more useful if the Xbone had/was getting full DVR functionality.

Looks like the DVR functionality is something that got left on the cutting room table once Phil Spenser took charge and refocused the Console to be a games console first.

so not a lot of point using it then considering most people will be running the Xbox One through a device with a tuner anyway, suppose it explains why its so cheap.

Snap is going away but it's not like there won't be a replacement.
It'll be in a floating overlay on top of the game you are playing instead.

Full HDMI CEC support wouldn't go amiss either. Hot deal though, thanks.

Not just freeview, but freeview HD. Actually works better than the built in tuner on my tv.

Do you need a tv subscription or does it work with say freeview?

FYI my bros got this and it really isn't that good. The guide is really badly designed and it can't record. If you try to click a program that starts in ten minutes it won't offer to remind you, it will just try to sell you the program.
It has the potential to be good but right now Microsoft are killing it. Id much rather use my old TVs built in functions.
Good deal though if you still want it.

That will be changing in the next big xbox update, snap is being removed and replaced by a picture in picture app, so no more 1 quater of your TV screen gone while using snap for tv or YT.

Doesn't every TV from like the last 6 years have freeview built in!?

Yeah but this will do HD whereas some older HDTV's don't have Freeview HD.

Just a heads up - I ordered one of these to use on my PC and there aren't any drivers for it. People have managed to hack some ropey support into Linux but that's about it.
