Sony is so scared, it got straight on the blower to Sainsbury's and told them to start selling Battleborn for £4. I can't think of any better way for Sony to pre-empt the launch of a new rival console. Check and mate. Microsoft must be fuming.

but my point was, although price falls are inevitable and with emphasis being placed on the PS pro, being left with several hundred thousand unsold consoles pre-ordered from the manufacturer must make the finance department consider promotions rather than suffering financial loss. i don't remember seeing a new game on any shelf for £4.00 not that this itself is an incentive, only part of a marketing strategy. if the extra processing power becomes significant in game development the PS4 may have a short life and sony are know for product failures as well as their innovation.

Battleborn being £4 is symptomatic of getting absolutely trounced by Overwatch, and possibly moving towards a free-to-play model. I don't think there's any deeper conspiracy here.
