In year of the Remaster / Rehash, WipEout is the next to get the Remaster treatment. This package contains 3 Wipeout games all remastered in 4k. £27.85 seems like a pretty good price when its currently listed on Amazon at a rather silly £59.99.
*** EDIT 30/03 17:23 Amazon have literally just changed the price to £29.99 ***
If you're a bit strapped for cash just remember a new WipEout styled game called Formula Fusion is also due for release this year.

Yes it is. I wish Sony wouldn't have took Psygnosis into their network. Them and Lucas Arts going the way it did, so many happy memories of their games through the years.

Yeah, couldn't agree more with regards Psygnosis. I think back in the day it was primarily their games and Namco we lost hours on. Sony and Namco could make a killing redoing Time Crisis, Ridge Racer and Point Blank.

Time crisis VR? That would be great! Also Ridge racer type 4 is still the best racer I have played.

I wish this had VR support - sure it would be vomit central but once you got used to it, imagine the speed and thrill!
Yeah that would be amazing Time Crisis VR, we should work for Sony's ideas dept - million dollar ideas right there! The PSone's Jumping Flash remastered in VR is where its at lol.

June 6th from the description in the trailer above. Edit - correction, that may be for the US and it would be the 7th for us

It's not bad, but it's no WipEout in my opinion. It doesn't handle the same and the ships aren't as pretty. Albeit the ones in FF look more 'realistic'. Bit sketchy with the details of both the console release and VR too.
Didn't know Omega was having a physical release, I guess I need both!

On Dispatch if ordering with a credit/debit card. You can prepay, but not sure why you would.
Be careful with Paypal some people report they take payment instantly with Paypal - not sure if anyone else has experienced that?
DD2 was fantastic. First one was also good. One of the first games i played, came in a Demo disc somewhere. Best soundtracks too, along with Wipeout 2097

I think this is a $40 (AKA £30) RRP game tbh. The Amazon price will just be a placeholder.
EDIT: Yes, as I expected the price has already dropped to £30 on Amazon. There's no £2 off for Prime members though sadly.
Wow, how did I miss this? What a great result! I liked it on the Vita, but found the screen a bit small to play something this fast-paced on it; this is on my list for sure!

Omg it was only a few months ago I was saying how I was sad the Wipeout franchise had been discontinued and how much I wanted to play it on PS4! This is really good news can't believe this is the first I've heard of it.
Now we just need my all time favourite game SSX Tricky  such a fun game, a classic. The sequel SSX on tour was really bad. Watching YouTube videos of Tricky now and reminiscing... Would be so awesome in 4K with improved assets and online multiplayer
davejonsmith
30 Mar 17#63
Ha, I remember having a dodgy PS1 where you'd have to switch it on then turn the whole thing upside down to get the sound work! And jamming the CD close sensor with a match stick to swap in games, sure that was a way round the region locked discs??
davejonsmith
30 Mar 171#64
SSX tricky would be brilliant, played that Steep recently its no way similar but is quite a good winter sports game.
davejonsmith
30 Mar 171#65
Point Blank would be doable with the move controls and the camera setup - I reckon Time Crisis and Point Blank would be a massive draw for people to get the camera and move controllers. But in the same breath nothing would beat a new G Con gun with feedback. Keep Fingers crossed, if Junes bringing us Micro Machines, Crash & WipEout, July might just bring us some Namco remasters.
Loved Psygnosis Wipeout - hated the later ones. If 2097 was in this I would be losing sleep for this release

Yep so instead of making a new game, they're re-selling the old one as new :smirk:
Most of this game is from Wipeout HD (came out in 2008) which runs at 60 fps at 1080p on the PS3 so i realy can't see how it can be improved
Wipeout HD was a proper remaster, it used tracks from two PSP games, it increased the resolution and fps
what you're paying for here is mainly an old game that's a remaster of a remaster and by buying it you're giving a message to sony that it's fine to do business this way, close down developers and resell the same game over and over but repackaged, why make new games when there's people who like to play the same game over and over?
If sony kept studio liverpool (Psygnosis) running, we would have a new wipeout to play but they didn't :disappointed:

If only this was VR, I'd buy VR and this. But I think I've had my fill from WipeOutHD and Fury during PS3, with no 'Upgrade' option, I'd rather not double dip even with extra content and Tekken is out the day after so, I'm getting that. A good deal though, so heat.
meathane
31 Mar 17#80
I feel this is lazy by Sony, they should have done the original, 2097, and Wip3Out.
There is so much content with Fury and HD though, so they'll be loads of content here. Plus those two are crossplay, so I literally have all three of these on the vita, and they're awesome. I guess it's a must for 4K owners, shame there's no 3D though (I strongly presume)
Spark
31 Mar 17#81
Although I agree with you, considering how many remasters and HD collections Sony spew out every year coupled with how readily they seem to close studios these days (Guerrilla Cambridge closed just 2 months ago with all employees being made redundant), I don't think you will be sending any sort of loud and clear message by not buying this.
The damage has already been long done at this point and whether or not we buy it, that Crash Bandicoot collection especially will likely sell by the bucket load.

i'm sure the devs at SCE studio liverpool are nice guys n gals but there's someone called zico, he made a really fast lap time on anulpha pass which you have to beat to get a trophy (there's at least 3 very hard trophies in Wipout HD)
You might start to hate him for making such a fast lap time but it's satisfying when you do finaly beat him :stuck_out_tongue:

Only game that needs remastering is WipeOut 2097, imagine that in the latest HD visuals, same soundtrack, same gameplay with Analogue controls. Perfection
Spark
3 Apr 171#89
It will do. Back then some games used CD DA for higher quality audio (MP3/AAC etc didn't exist). The first track contained data and the rest were just normal audio tracks. Once you loaded a level the game would just be programmed to 'load track 6' for example and it would load track 6 of any disc that happened to be in the tray at the time.
I never really did it much but the idea now that at some point someone was potentially playing Wipeout while a Tom Jones song played in the background is funny to me.
