Went to tesco fratton and just got 6 bottles of WD40 400ml with the smart straw. Bargain! Loads left on the shelf.

What keeps bike mechanics in work is people who do not maintain their bikes at all and leave them to rust.
WD40 is better than no lubrication on a bike (I have used it for 5 years on one bike and it's not had any rust and the chain has worked nicely until it streched). I wouldn't write it off, the guys at GCN who are professional racing cyclists use WD40 for their chains and derailleur but they do clean and re apply after every ride which is probably how you should use it if you are going to at all.

Wow. Just bought one yesterday for £4.14 in tool station. And that was without the smart straw. Gutted.
