WARNING - the Stella cans are only 330ml - this is NOT a full can size, not a pint - only about a quarter of a pint probably.

330ml is the same size as a normal can of coke, sprite, Fanta etc

A pint = 568ml
330ml = 58% of a pint, not 25%
mergleb
21 Mar 17#14
And much much much smaller than usual cans of beer. People may be bamboozled into thinking they are getting a normal 4 pack of BIG cans.
They are not however.

If a pint is a litre then one litre = 1000 ml.
Therefore the small Stella bottle is a THIRD of a pint. Just a bit more than a quarter I grant you but still no where near a pint which is what most people will think a four pack of lager is, namely 1000 litres per can.

21 Mar 17#22
A pint and a litre are actually the same amount of volume. In England we call it a pint and on the continent they call it a litre. A litre holds 1000 ml. The cans of Stella are only 330 ML, therefore they are only a third of a litre / pint. Imagine ordering a drink in a bar and only getting a thrid of a pint pot. Thats what you are getting in each of these Stella cans.

mazzyhope
22 Mar 17#26
To add to that, most of the can will be air to prevent the Stella from being damage in transit, so it's more like 10% of a litre/pint.
HotUKDuncan
22 Mar 171#27
You mis calculate as you forgot that most of a tiny can is actually froth so you'll be lucky if you get 7% of a proper pint.
robin5858
22 Mar 1712#28
Err no.1 litre is 1.76 pints.
Been that since the beginning of the introduction of the metric system.
thebiophysicist
22 Mar 173#29
It's possible to drink a large case of 24 and still drive as you will have drunk less than 2 pints. That's in old money. Now they don't make cases of 24 round glass bottles it's all in metric packs of 10 square plastic litre cartons to fit in the fridge.
Vanderlust
22 Mar 174#30
Remember the can walls are 4% thicker on the 330ml's to stop the large volume of air seeping through, which reduces the volume of Stella further to around 6% of a litre pint.
Pro rata.
n_huvos
22 Mar 17#31
But what if I pour it out in a pint glass? Will it hold all 4 of them cans or I only need a half pint glass for the 4 cans as I don't plan to hold the air and the froth anyway I like to separate them when I drink my lager so basically what I want to know is can I drink all four cans of this but out of a half pint glass so when my mum says I'm an alcoholic I can say "talk to the hand dear it was only half pint" but whilst I say this I am fully expected to be as punch drunk as one can be from 4 cans of lager?!
If the answer is yes I vote it hot otherwise COLD!

22 Mar 172#49
Its glass bottles in the offer not cans anyway.
The glass bottles are 330ml, which is a fairly standard glass bottle size (sometime you get 275ml).
Cans are normally 440ml, 500ml or a pint (568ml).
A half pint is 284ml, so these bottlesare about 0.6pints.

22 Mar 171#50
Looks good for Waitrose...their onion rings have great reviews. Stella 330ml bottles x4 around £2.80 on offer generally, so onion rings and pizza for a quid makes this hot.

One pint is actually 1.934 x (10 to the minus 62) cubic kiloparsecs. Whereas 330ml is 1.123 x (10 to the minus 62) cubic kiloparsecs. I hope that clears it up.

22 Mar 171#57
And 95% of Lager is water...so...that makes it just 0.3% of a litre is actually Lager. Terrible.
Any Santander cashback offer is specific to each account holder though!
eg I currently have a 5% Waitrose and a 10% Morrisons (and of course each cashback is only for ONE spend by a deadline), but another family member has neither, while you have 10% Waitrose.
Good reminder though to Santander account holders to check their their "Offers" as any cashback offer has to be activated/claimed before it can be exploited.
mk-donald
22 Mar 171#59
Yep the onion rings are "whole British onion rings coated in a crisp light batter made with Dorset ale" and 55% onion
rather than reformed from diced onion and breadcrumbs as many cheaper ones are eg essential Waitrose's own.
Picked up the deal in-store today ie "** Beer Pizza Rings £5 ** -£3.88" saving on the store receipt.
There was ZERO indication in the area of any of the products (in 3 areas of the store) that they were part of any offer! With 6 pizzas and the onion rings needing to be freezer cabineted, they would have to devote about half their 'freezer offer' display cabinet [end of aisle] + stack the bottled beer nearby somehow, which I guess is logistically difficult particularly as this is quite a LONG term offer running for FOUR WEEKS from today to Tue 18/4

I reckon since the deal was posted about getting a coffee in the canteen with the waitrose card, there has been an influx of HUKD's types..hence the need to include us all with obscure deals like this...to be fair its a good deal will go in later on the way home and get one each for all the family..thanks OP

If you hold a 330ml can close to your face with one hand, then a pint can in the other hand at arms length then the 330ml can is bigger and therefore has more volume and therefore more larger. Simple

As previously personally reported in this thread it WAS definitely available in-store and I'd expect the offer to continue to be 100% the same online and in-store, like anything else you see on the Waitrose website, and it's not due to end until Tue 18/4.
Will certainly validate that it's STILL available IN-STORE (for the second time, the first time it showed on in-store receipt as "** Beer Pizza Rings £5 ** -£3.88" ) in the next few days.
If you DO want the deal in-store and don't want to "embarass yourself" by checking it really is discounted at the till, just take the three items to the customer services desk first and get them to do a price-check for you!
mk-donald
4 Apr 17#118
Just personally to confirm in-store shoppers - this offer REMAINS AVAILABLE at today's date Tue 4/4 ie the till computer says yes "Beer Pizza Rings £5 [ie] -3.88" and from the original listing should remain available until Tue 18/4!
Though it'll annoy the customer services desk if a supervisor isn't close if you ask for a price-check as price-check only works on a single item not a combo set of three items, so they have to put it through as if selling to see what the bill total/discounts it to; and then it requires a supervisor to void the sale. This is because basket includes alcohol; apparently a measure to deter staff from running through alcohol without pre-checking age-qualified first!

Update: Tuesday 11th April and offer IS still running [no more need for beer battered onion rings so no more purchases lol]. So still no reason to believe it won't continue to be available for purchase in-store (or delivery by) Tue 18/4 as originally promoted.
