I spotted this in PC world in Nottingham city centre. It seems PC World don't even sell this on their website. As John Lewis is over the road I went in and showed them the photo I've uploaded here and they price matched it on the spot. John Lewis are selling the same router for £109.99

I'm planning to use this as a replacement for my Virgin Superhub seeing as it's been giving me no end of problems.

I am no expert but I don't believe so. I think you would need the VR9000 for that but I will be using my superhub as a modem and hooking this up as what hopefully will be a much improved router.

No. You need a VDSL modem. Mine is working via the HH5 with wifi disabled ATM, but I plan to replace that piece of garbage with an Openreach modem only, even if it seems to be working so far..

Just bought what appeared to be the last one in Mew Malden store.
Set up was problematic with one tablet, but everything else has connected seamlessly, by using old wifi name and password.
Download speeds have doubled, and wifi reach is much stronger.
HH5 really is pants. Snap one up while you still can. Expert reviews should give you confidence, if you don't believe this thread.

Hey all. This is now £64.97 in the Nottingham store (NG1). John Lewis wouldn't price match JetPacks picture as not on PC World website.

There was two left at PC World after I took mine around 12:30pm today (08.03.17).

Trying to add picture but HUKD thinks googles short url is a swear word and **** it.

Definitely £64.97 now, couldn't resist any longer and just picked one up in Norwich. Wonder how low they'll go for those that want to play the stock/lowest price game.

Good price. In my opinion, you're betting off spending slightly more and getting a separate router and a separate access point. But then you're talking £150+. If you're limited to £70, this is a decent all-in-one.

C9 is for cable
D9 is for ADSL/VDSL(BT etc)

Great router i have it, can be flashed with DDWRT but be aware to roll back to after flashing requires opening the router

Not quite, the D9 doesn't have a vdsl modem in it so no advantage over the C9 for fibre as you'd still need a separate modem.

VR series (VR900 for example) include VDSL modems for non-Virgin Fibre (VDSL).

There were plenty left in both PC World and John Lewis this afternoon. No idea about the Asus router you mentioned but I've got the tp-link up and running now and already feel that it's money well spent.

I got one of these a month ago as the Virgin Superhub 3 is pretty poor wireless outside of the room its in and it is a big improvement especially for my sons PS4 playing online in his bedroom, good find OP.

If you don't know why then you probably don't need it :smiley: Sometimes the hubs and free routers can struggle if you have a lot of traffic going through them - they are built to a budget. These more expensive ones give better range, better traffic throughput and also allow more control ie. NAT, Port Forwarding etc

Very good router. If you can get one for this price then go for it. It handles traffic so much better than the virgin media hub. The Dual core processor means if you use it as a wireless switch for your internal network (ie. media servers etc) then it copes much better with high volumes of traffic. Plus the "beamforming" seems to actually work - I get far better signal with this. Very happy indeed even if I did pay £20 more than this

I bought the C8 a few months back, don't know why I didn't get one sooner. 100x better than the Virgin superhub. This looks a great price for a decent router.
