I really, really wanted to get into The Division. It looks like it could be an absolutely great game once you get it into it, but it just never seemed to gel with me at all, pretty much in the same way Destiny didn't :disappointed:
But at this price, it's a bit of a no brainer to at least try. Great find, as always. Heated

There's certainly a lot to like for £8 - play the story through and maybe re-visit a few missions on the harder difficulty via the daily challenges to test your mettle.
The Dark Zone is a badly conceived way to keep players interested in the game past the missions but is a massive grind for little reward... and it's massively unfair unless you're in a closely knit squad.
Challenge Mode was meant to spice it up but is the dullest thing about the game... waves upon waves of bad guys in a room... You might like it if CoD Zombies is your thing but I found it tedious.
Buy it, play it through, sell it. I foolishly bought digital when it came out :disappointed:

I bought Division at launch and have absolutely loved it. Thought the missions and story were great. Played about half solo, half co-op, enjoyed both ways. Lots of people online to join up with (check out LFG sites online). As someone has already said, the Dark Zone is a waste of time. Great idea but really badly imbalanced, especially if you're up against tight groups! Definitely don't solo it!!!
When I finished the story and max level, there's still plenty to do in that search for great loot. It's great that the devs have continued to update the game and evolve it. Once you hit the max level, I've found it's a nice game to dip in and out of. Pick it up from time to time, play some missions, try and find some decent loot, put it down again. Good release to shoot the bad guys
For that price you just can't go wrong! Especially when you see other games going for more and people saying they're worth getting.

I never played it, the whole "shoot someone in the head 50 times and they are still alive" scenario just seemed silly. It works in Destiny because well, aliens.
Wildlands seems a lot more realistic....I'll wait until that is 7.99 :smile:

Got the platinum trophy and it was just too repetitive I think! Got the season pass and I regret buying it! Same again repetitive, only played the underground expansion although the ones after look ok. Worth this price though definitely.
I noticed the same thing in the division, people's heads were made of Kevlar or something , from what I've seen wildlands is decent (7.9 from IGN) but repetitive so I'm gonna wait for the price drop, I mean it's gonna happen, look at say dishonored 2 that wasn't a bad game and that's hit £13 within say 6 months of release.

is the Division a single player game? or only a online game?
LankySi to SmilezMC
13 Mar 171#20
Both! Haha.
You have to be online to play it and you'll see other players in the safe houses. However, as soon as you step out of the safe houses, it's your instance. You gather the collectibles solo, you can do the missions solo. At the start of every mission you can invite other players to join you. Alternatively, if you've already added other players to your group, you'll run round the city together.
The DZ is against other players, it's a bit like a MOBA. You can kill AI enemies but then you have to get the loot extracted and that's usually where it kicks off against other players! The DZ is a great idea, poorly executed unfortunately.

I enjoyed the demo of The Division, but after Destiny's 'spend £40 every 6 months for the next slice of the game' release schedule I passed. I'm keeping my eye on the Gold edition though, especially after the Pro patch as it looks beautiful in a higher resolution.

Similar to me.
I bought it, played solo, bought it for my son then played co-op main game / Underground.
My boy has stopped playing now but I'm still at it 6 months later.
DZ solo is a very poorly conceived idea and I feel that Massive are scared to alter the dynamic of being slaughtered by groups of 'rogues' as they're the mainstay of the games population in the Dark Zone.
My current DZ activity consists of finding groups of rogues and popping them at distance with a marksman rifle, then running like **** as they try to catch me (hint - use the underground lol).
Overall this is a mammoth game which is brilliant in nearly every way, bar the DZ.

The reason why I didn't mention that is because they tend to send their new games unsealed so if you are looking for games in new condition, Grainger games isn't for you.

It's no surprise, both games feature bullet sponge enemies. Atleast in Destiny you're fighting monsters where in the division the enemy is still charging at you after you headshotted him a bunch of times
Cod is also way past its time
Mafia 3 is probably the most repetitive game I've ever seen
