got a deal on Wednesday after cancelling but then got the option to reinstating the account with 60% off( checking my account online) .thought i'd try my luck and went through sky chat .was offered 35% off Sky Q , i told them about a offer what curry's had a few weeks ago of 75% off. managed to get Sky Q 2 TB, Mini box (£60 & £40 install)full package (sports, movies all in HD,boxsets) , 12 months contract £32.90 p/m. being installed Tuesday.

Yeah - they think it's £60 setup, but it isn't. You'll see for yourself 10 minutes after signup when you get the email from Sky directly. You can always cancel, losing nothing, if they charge you £60

that was same as the offered me. 60 percent off existing package or 25% off q with free installation. was cheaper to accept their 60percent deal then just add on q after.

I cancelled sky and retentions offered 60% off normal or 25% off Q so said no.

Anyone know if you can still do the old trick of signIng up on someone else's name?

the 60 percent offer is shown on the actual sky box when you hit interactive button then account. i couldnt see anything online when i tried. but id not bother with either and just go straight to the online chat. like you said, dont say "new customers get, blah blah" theyve probably got a scripted response to it. i said that i heard a friend had a great deal with sky q so i was reconsidering my cancellation. they said lets see what i can do... and we went from there. just be polite and sound like your seriously considering their offers but that its still a bit too expensive. if they think theyve nearly got you to join up again theyll keep tempting you with a bit extra to close the deal... you can always say youll think about it and come back another time if its not quite enough.

Has anyone had the deal from Currys?
I signed up to the deal through Currys, and at the time the sales rep mentioned the £50 Currys voucher as stated by the OP, however nothing was given to me at the time. I wasn't too worried as I expected it to follow once the Sky Q was installed, at which time I'm fully committed to the contract. I've emailed Currys customer service, but the response has been to visit store.
Has anyone had the voucher from Currys?

Login on the TV or online and you are likely to see an offer for 60% off (that seems to be the norm at the moment from reading reports on various forums). I let my cancellation run and then a few days after fully cancelled I went on chat to enquire about the free Sky+ functionality for 6 months (mentioned on another thread). I was immediately offer 75% off Boxed Sets, after a very brief pause when I said I would have a think about it he added £100 credit (not even £50 and then needing negotiating up!) and on a rolling contract. This was only on Monday, so shows what is possible. I went on chat from this page https://secure.sky.com/promotions/offers/sky-plus-opt-in-mar17 (offer discussed on http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/free-6-months-sky-hd-for-leavers-2638828).

yeh best to contact them. the rententions chat is open until 11pm. if you check your account on the sky box youve probably already got the 60 percent offer. just a case of further haggling :P

have you checked the other thread? lots of hints on that one

i went from 80.99 down to 45.29 i think. but then i decided to add on sky q for £12 so now im back up to 57.29. i paid 60 for installation but ive got 50 quid credit.

id say dont even bother with any offer before cancelling, always cancel.. then give them an hour or two and talk to a chat person. just remember not to cancel any phone or broadband. give them nice long pauses in between any offer. say youre thinking about it.. maybe do it last thing at night? they might be keen to close a deal so they can go home lol. i did mine about 930pm.

What is your new monthly total? I'm in the same position, best offer was 40% off tv and £5.00 of broadband, £60 installation.
davejb
20 Mar 17 1 #125
i tried for the £47 sky q bundle but they wouldnt budge.lol. said that it wasnt through sky and the best they could do was 25% off any sky q package and free installation. but because i was on the old Variety + HD pack it worked out more to switch. the new equivalents are more expensive and cancelled out the discount.

i managed to get 60 percent off my existing tv bundle plus 50 percent off my phone and broadband plus £50 credit too. so halved my bill and got next month paid.

update: i rang them direct today and asked if i could keep my existing package if i paid the £12 a month sky q upgrade and they said yes no problem. its £60 installation for the 2tb box but with the £50 credit its effectively cost me a tenner.. and my total monthly cost is still £24 less.

Just had this deal from Carphone Warehouse by phone ,no need to go into store ,for elderly neighbour paying nearly £70 pm for Virgin TV and Talk Talk phone. 18 month contract on TV ,12 month contract on Sky Talk and B/B.
Box sets with Sky Q box 1 TB. Free for 18 months
Unlimited B/B adsl. £5 pm
Line rental £12.34 pm
Unlimited anytime calls including mobiles. £8pm
Total = £25.34pm for 12 months. which increases by £5 pm for b/b to £30.34 pm for remaining 6 months.
If she wanted fibre b/b it would have been £31.35 pm for the entire 18months contract.

Thank you for posting your result - prompted by your post and the free Sky+ for 6 months deal on another thread (as I don't really need a package!) , I went on live chat earlier to enquire about the free 6 months Sky+.

As I have recently left, I am not in any contract or subscription at the moment. Unprompted I was offered 75% off Boxed Sets then after a pause straight to £100 credit :sunglasses: . Boxed set was £9.90 a month for 12 months but I went for Sky Vinema too for £14 per month for 12 momths - covered by the £100 credit  .. icing on the cake was no contract, it is rolling so I am free to leave or negotiate again when the credit runs out
DemonIT
19 Mar 17 #122
It's the same subscription price, but you'll have to pay for the 2nd Minibox (one off charge of £99). You might be able to get a discount on this if you ask Sky nicely (you have to order the additional box direct with sky once you're base order has been accepted)

Could I also ask how you came to get the 60% off and £50 bill credit? Did you get an enhanced offer appear in your "my account" section of your skybox that superseded the 60% off for 12 months offer in there, or was it a mailshot, or something else?

Thanks.

^ These days it is hard to find anyone with a TV that isn't HD, 1080p is most certainly the norm now, it takes the biscuit that Sky even charge for the privilege of watching in HD now when many are looking for 4k content (which would be fair do's to charge for at the current time).

I got £50 account credit offer in last week of our cancellation period. And a no minimum contract offer.

I let my account lapse and let services go for a few days. I today went on chat to get the 6 months free sky+ added that is on another thread here. They sucked me in!

I was offered £100 credit and no minimum term on 60% offer. I've now signed back up for box sets on single room deal for £15.20pm. With £100 credit that's 6 months free at which point I can cancel.

Box sets gets you hd. They don't do hd on variety if that matters to you.

Just for my info - did you get offered £60 off and £50 credit straight away upon cancellation request, or just the 60% off and addition of £50 later in the cancellation period? We're in our cancellation period and so far just got the 60% offer. Not sure if we'll get more nearer to cutoff date if we hold out.

How much do box sets cost on a normal subscription? We don't really use them, could kick that part into touch.

I was told it would be a 12 month contract to upgrade to Sky Q (not 18 months) and that it would be £12 extra for multiroom, there was no scope for an offer on this (tried multiple times). So I think you will be upfront cost of boxes to upgrade to Sky Q, plus £12 per month on top of the 60% offer you take, and it will be for 12 months. But obviously worth checking with sky.
PortmanRoad
17 Mar 17 #114
I've just been offered 60% off my current channels package, but not multiroom. If I take the deal (removing multiroom) can I then go on the chat and get an offer on an upgrade to Sky Q with multiroom, or a discount on standard multiroom? Will the fact that I've just entered a new 12 month contract count against me?

Also, if I signed up to Sky Q would that put me in an 18 month contract, while my 60% offer is only valid for 12?

Does anyone know? Thanks.
KevClark1985
17 Mar 17 #113
If you take an offer and then upgrade to Sky Q it's £12 extra a month for multiroom, and the boxes are £15 for 1tb box or £60 for 2tb box, and £40 for the 1st mini receiver. You only pay full price for the boxes (which is a ripoff as you rent them...) if you don't take multiroom.

I was offered 60% off and £50 account credit. My 30 days finished yesterday and they never improved beyond this. My sky has now been cut off and I'm going to try a few weeks without it and see if I get 75% offer. Or see if I can sign up for q under gf name for an offer like this.

If you take 60% I think they will charge 12.50 extra for q plus equipment cost. £200 has been quoted which makes it expensive.

Will let you know if I get a better offer. The I'm quite enjoying being sky free. Am using a cheap nowtv offer from here for some stuff.

Hope this helps

V+ cable is different - for Sky you need a satellite dish installing.
Tony1986
15 Mar 17 #108
I think it was the HD element of sky sports that wasn't included. the variety, sports and movies were all included in the 60% offer (or at least that's what it said in the small print on mine)
monkeyhanger75
15 Mar 17 #107
Exactly the same happened to me last night - said no to 40% off, carried on with cancellation and 60% off offer is on our "my account" on the box. Will we get a better offer than that if we hold out longer? I'm sure in the small print I read that Sky Sports isn't reduced, so if that component of our package is full price, we're still talking about 1/2 price for the lot.

So to get Q 4k, what's the advice? Take the deal then ask to pay a nominal amount for the Q upgrade on the discounted price at a later date?
essolfc
15 Mar 17 #106
Thanks a lot for your response, much appreciated.

So I would need to have a dish installed then as opposed to them just plugging the box into my existing coax that is used for current V+ box?
Tony1986
15 Mar 17 #105
thanks all for the advice. I went through chat today, got offered the 40%, said no. got home and went through my account on my sky box (interactive button) and there was a 60% off offer to stay. Good days work!
DemonIT
15 Mar 17 #104
1) no self install for main box (and does require coax satellite feed)

2) yes you can use Virgin broadband; I do. Plug in or wireless is for on-demand/catch-up

3) sky Q mini boxes (multi room) support eth or wireless

If I go in store and sign up for this can I walk away with the box and just install myself or does it have to be installed by an engineer?

I currently have Virgin tv & internet but want to cancel my tv package and use this, is that possible to have the 2 different services?

From brief research online it would seem the SkyQ box runs via Ethernet rather than Coaxial so I'm assuming I can just hook up the box to my Virgin internet via Ethernet?
jdpwest
15 Mar 17 #102
correct, I went into the Fareham store and did the 2TB option only to get a "please call us" text as soon as I'd left. My 12 months were up today from the last time I had sky , but sky are showing me as being on their system until the 22nd March , so they have put my order on hold for a week and I can call back and put it through then (if the offer is still running which I hope it is).

Took the guy in store about 20 mins to find the deal in all the offers they had but finally he found it and it didn't take long for it to go through. Like I say am hoping this lasts a week so I can still use it.

I am sure that cannot be 100% applied? So anyone moving in to a house cannot have Sky for one year after the previous occupants leave? I suppose they mean the same customer applying again within a set period, though feel sure I have read somewhere 6 months?

I just had a conversation with Sky to do with a box issue, (they're sending out an engineer FOC!), the lady said that any existing offers you may have can be ported over to Sky Q. For example, I currently have 60% off and can port that over to Q should I so wish. She did say not to upgrade to Q, but instead take a discount and then call back to move to Q. Hope this helps.

Never had less than 60% off the standard rate tbh. Paying full rate for Sky is madness. For around £35-40 a month mark for full package, I think its good value, more than that and I start to question it. I always try to get my TV (inc Sky movies/Sky Sports/BT sport), phone and fibre broadband for between £80 and £90 a month total.
monkeyhanger75
15 Mar 17 1 #96
From everyone's experiences here, it seems that getting a good out of Sky as a current customer out of contract is a bit hit and miss. Depends on your definition of a deal, but some people get 75% off, 50%, 40%, 25% - it all points to one thing, the standard rate is ridiculous.
nt1311
14 Mar 17 #95
Agreed, don't take any of their offers of half price broadband etc and before you know it, there will be a decent 50% plus offer on your My Account screen of your Sky box. I did it over a year ago and they just extended with no minimum term without my asking.

Here's a weird one for you ... Me and a friend bought A LG tv each from currys ... LG UH55850v ... with it was a 'free'sky Q deal ... Yesterday after getting the tv connected up i decided to ring LG to invoke the 5 year warranty ... All good and the tv is excellent. So I asked them about the sky Q deal .. they didnt know the details and connected me to sky. I was offered a similar deal ... free for 6 months and after that would have to pay for a year to the end of the contract (18 months), and a 60 quid installation fee ... I didn't want to be tied into it to be honest so politely declined at which point the guy said he could do me a non uhd deal on the basic package for 18 months free ... so I snapped that up with a 1tb sky Q and 15 quid installation (no broadband). Roll onto today .. tried to get my mate signed up to the same deal and they wouldn't ... looks like they made an error offering me that. Did get told tho to keep an eye on my bank account for charges I shouldn't be getting etc ... Gets installed Friday, have had email confirmation with the deal outlined:

I can watch stuff live on my tablets and phones via Sky Go, I have Plex for recordings. I'm paying £63 for the year on HD, that's around a couple of months worth of basic Q so for the difference to allow me to download recordings (which as I have unlimited mobile internet is again pretty much pointless unless on a plane) it just doesn't draw me in I'm afraid.

I could do with that longer answer too... When I say I cancelled, the TV package is in the wife's name, her maiden name actually. I am a Sky customer for the broadband and phone, literally days away from the end of my contract.

Could I be a "new" customer for TV? The guy in PC World said no as it is the address that is flagged, not the customer - to stop the husband/wife flips going on. As far as Sky are concerned, I have a different surname to the wife.

14 Mar 17 #81
On the back of this offer apparently being open to current customers ("not an introductory rate"), I went to my local PC World/CPW and said they couldn't help as i'm an existing customer. They checked our address and it came up red rather than green so the advisor said the application would bounce. He advised me to cancel Sky and be Sky-free for a month before trying with them again. They couldn't find the exact deal posted here, it came up as around £49 with the 2Tb Q and broadband - maybe that's why he couldn't help me. Anyone got a direct number for Robin at Poole?

I cancelled Sky tonight, they offered me 40% off our current package to stay, didn't offer any Q deals until I asked and were prepared to do Q for £84. Said no and went ahead with cancellation.

Does anyone know any way around this as a current customer way out of contract, or is it play the waiting game with last minute retention deals offered by post or popping up in your "my sky" as the final date of cancellation period looms?
MrFlux001
14 Mar 17 #80
We cancelled our Sky TV/broadband package (in my wife's name) a few weeks ago as the guy I spoke to could only offer £90 per month for fibre 76mb and a TV package without movies or sport, so, a terrible offer.

I was a Sky customer about 5 years ago, reckon I could try to get this deal in my name even though we're both at the same address?

Heated - This is fantastic deal for full package. I would have gone for this but did the free 43" 4k tele deal in November time for £50 a month for 12 months.

In case you are in doubt with Sky Q as a product....don't be. It is a fantastic product and the mini boxes make getting it fitted around the house easier than ever. The 2tb main box acts as a hub and streams the content to the mini boxes via your WIFI network. The WIFI signal in our master bedroom wasn't the best with only 2 bars of strength but the mini box can still handle the content no problem.

Me and my partner got one of these in the ASDA phone shops. They had this offer on and a load of other offers, might be worth giving them a ring as may be easier for people to get there. Much better availability though if you're a new customer than existing sometimes I feel but all about how you discuss with them.

Good deal. I recently got sky HD complete package as a returning customer for £20.90 for 12 months. Didn't see any good sky q offers at the time. Shame but still mustn't grumble

14 Mar 17 #62
What's the best sky deal out there for new customers (TV phone and broadband) and how do I go about getting them?
kiish
14 Mar 17 #61
There is a LNB (thingy end of satellites where cable goes into) which they use that supports SkyQ and normal/freesat. We requested it when engineer came so our freesat still works as well

For apartments it's mostly just landlords for whatever reason rejecting any changes to the dishes
unhappybunny
14 Mar 17 #60
I think this is because if they change the dish to Sky Q compatible then it will no longer work with Sky Normal or FreeSat.

So everyone else in the development/ complex will have their TV service just stop working!

Or have I got that wrong?

The easiest way seems to be to do as many people have suggested and cancel - that opens up different deals. On My Account on Sky I had 60% off offer within minutes of cancelling and that is without any negotiation - as it happens I don't need it so am letting the cancellation go through but there are deals to be done.

Yes.

Also as others have mentioned I'm not too keen on The SkyQ interface, not user friendly at all
Al18
14 Mar 17 #52
Don't you have to give the sky Q box back once the contract ends, unlike the old boxes?
tomwatts
14 Mar 17 #51
Until I got it that's what I thought. The ability to play recordings/watch LIVE tv on iPads makes this worth it alone. Want to take a show I was watching up to bed? Done. Go from lounge to kitchen and keep watching same show? Done. Download recordings for on the go viewing? Done. It's so slick and just works that I have to admit that I'd find it hard to not have now.
tomwatts
14 Mar 17 #50
This was cheaper at Christmas - £30/£42 but this seems to be a decent price nonetheless
Ridgehead
14 Mar 17 #49
I didn't think there was any cost for the box as you don't get to own it. If you ever cancel sky you have to give these boxes back?
hasj2
14 Mar 17 #48

i agree, I've been with them over 10 years, and everytime i ring and ask for a better offer, all they give me is 50% off fibre, when im on standard BB, and all i want is to reduce my payment, not add more expensive things even if it is 50% off.

HELP!

http://i.imgur.com/zHTE2NR.png

I'm paying this much for entertainment, news, kids, music, plus sports, no movies. standard broadband unlimited, line rental, and 24.7 to landlines.

Hold out, I currently have boxsets and Sky Go Extra for £9.50pm

Sky Q isn't all that from what I've seen...

Were out at Bluewater shopping centre last week, And a friend got the 2nd option for the same 47 quid from the Sky stall.

14 Mar 17 #45
u can take the 60% off your current package and push for bill credit as well.. once that is done then go via chat to upgrade and u can get sky Q with multiroom for the extra £12 a mth plus a upfront cost - cost dependant if i go 1tb or 2tb box and if i previously had multiroom or not.

possible to get a even better deal if i hold out and actually cancel.. i was going to virgin v6 box, full package with cinema with multiroom but sky matched that offer overall... upfront cost sky charged me for the 2tb box was less with the account credit so match the offer with virgin..... could if got better but i didn't want to go without for a week or so....

Read the last 10 or so pages of this

http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/75-off-sky-tv-for-existing-customers-only-works-when-call-specific-number-3-weeks-1741671?p=30227016

You should not be paying more than £32 for everything (excluding multiroom) or £50 for everything plus phone & unlimited 17mb broadband.

Some have got another £5 extra off each but it not that common

Oh & £50 credit is common too

Unrelated to this deal but can anyone give me tips on how to contact sky to give me a really good discount - been with Sky over 15 years just for the sky box and it is just getting too expensive paying over £50ish with Sky movies.... Do they give good deals for being a loyal customer?
y_am_I_buying_this
13 Mar 17 #42
It's not a update as such because it only connects ur flat up and leaves 3 more ports. So nothing changes same dish same cables just where the original communal gubbins are another device gets added that creates about 14 signals down your one cable. Clever stuff actually just a shame us normal engineers don't carry them
y_am_I_buying_this
13 Mar 17 #41
Read my reply above
y_am_I_buying_this
13 Mar 17 #40
Phone sky and request that you receive a AV UK engineer. As long as ur communal is in good shape and it's easy to do they fit a dscr switch for free and hook u up to it so u can get sky q

My Sky has expired and ive given my month notice. Currently I had Sky+ HD with the boxset package for discounted (60%) at £15.80 at month. Been on chat and all they are offering is 60% off again for an 18 month contract with the existing box. Tempted to go for it but really want Sky Q... decisions decisions.

All they offered on Sky Q was 10% off the the boxset package and £15 set up. but that's still about £34 a month.

13 Mar 17 #37
Question about sky q. My current setup at home I have two HD boxes on multiroom and then I have 3 additional TVs running off one of these boxes via Rf out 2 and magic eyes. Is there any chance of doing something similar with sky q ????
hamza123 to gsusx
13 Mar 17 1 #38
No, there are no RF out on the boxes. If I could, I would go back to sky HD, just my opinion. The sky q interface is gash, no favourites which is ridiculous, menus are garbage.

"2) 2TB box + Minibox with multi room £47/mo" was £35/mo on 12 months last September.

I am on boxsets 2tb sky q (no multiroom), sky talk anytime extra, adsl broadband for £17.34/mo, above was an offer at same time.

Entirely likely existing customers out of contract or near end can get it lower like above for £32.
