Mate has this - it's a lovely phone, camera etc but the storage is poor and the battery - hes complained about it since he bought it and it is REALLY poor. I got him a case recently from amazon that doubles up as an extra battery - like a mophie. £13

You'd compare by specification, without doubt the S6 has the best specification of any phone I've owned. It's completely let down by the battery, by Google's shoddy Lollipop OS on release, totally let down by Samsung's painfully slow major OS updates, hello Nougat where are you? Oh yes coming soon as always. The glass back that cracks of its own accord. It will get Nougat but by that time I will be gratefully rid of the S6, OK I lie, I won't be selling the S6 or changing the cracked back and the battery, I will be keeping it to power the GearVR I have, the only reason I'd keep it.
One thing I've noticed is the absurdly expensive price of new phones. Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are laughably expensive at £40.99 and £55pm respectively. The S8 might come in at £37.99 pm, however due to the nature of rip off contracts now, when you sign up the price you pay is not the price you pay for the full term of the contract. My S6 contract I think was around £32pm and it's increased to £34pm, so if I went for the Huawei, not only am I paying more but I'll pay even more later in to the contract. This has seriously made me think whether to buy a 2016 spec phone as a replacement for the 2015 S6 or to dabble with a Chinese brand such as Xiaomi.

S5 is better than this piece of garbage.
ashdogra69
22 Mar 17#39
Absolutely. Just a Google of the reviews for the S7 will show you just how much they slate the S6 for being a bold design but largely incomplete because of the battery, ip rating and expandable storage.

You're right, if you enjoy charging up your phone 3 times a day then you'll like this phone. They only put a 2600mAh battery in this. I've no idea why anyone would think £309 is a good deal for this phone. If you were going to shell out £300+ then you can get the one year old LG G5 which is a better spec and generally overall nicer phone than the S6, and then you can get even more for your money with the Chinese phones, Lenovo, Xiaomi, LeTV etc.

This will be two generations behind soon. Is it worth paying over £300 for such an old tech?

Personally I would say no. Battery life is the major culprit of this device.

I've been an owner of an S6 for 2 years almost. Think of the Galaxy S6 as being Vista and the Galaxy S7 being Windows 7. The battery life on the S6 is abysmal. The S7 is what the S6 should have been, it's Samsung's mistake of a phone. I can't wait to get rid of mine, one of the worst phones I've ever owned.

I have one and have had it ages and to be fair i cant see how this is as good as the MotoZ i ordered the other day to replace it, its old now im selling mine to my mate for £170. Its still stuck on Android 6 and for me it feels sluggish the MotoZ has a extra 1gb ram a bigger screen faster CPU and the list goes on and it was/is cheaper with the free Moto Mod. I didn't pay a lot more for this 18 months ago so this is poor value.

not a bad price tbh but not sure about the phone when there are plenty of decent brand new handsets at good prices now with expandable memory.... also putting me off is touchwiz and after using stock android I don't think I can go back to that now.... heat added though

Touchwiz isn't as bad as it used to be. I have the s6 and it's a great phone, still.

22 Mar 171#26
def no heat wait if you can until the s8 is released then the market will level out and the s6 edge and s7 edge will be cheaper.if you cant wait then its not a bad price at this time.

22 Mar 17#24
theres no chance the s7 edge will be this price.however im expecting it to drop 10-15% lower than it is now.every supplier in the galaxy is trying to dump there s7 at the moment because they dont want to get stuck with them when the mighty s8 is released next month.
