Solid 15.6" laptop, 2GHz i3-5005U CPU, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVD/RW drive, Windows 10 Home. Decent battery life.
Screen 1366x768, HDMI, 1 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0
Refurbished by HP, 12 month warranty from Tesco eBay store, Free P&P, more than 10 available.
Seems about the best price/performance in the "workhorse" 15.6" laptop sector at the moment. Manufacturer refurb. and known vendor. Usual price for this as a refurb seems to be £250+

These are well old. As old as the i5 i am typing on now. I am talking about the third/fourth or fith gen versions
Put an SSD in it and it'll fly, nothing wrong with it apart from having a HDD. NO laptop/PC should use a HDD as its primary boot device these days, unless its just a NAS or something similar that doesn't have continuous user activity.

Think you are bang on...I like many have returned as so slow
Sound good ...but screen also not for me.

In context: so solid that it needed refurbishment and / or underwhelmed the original buyers.

Not cold, should be voting based on value for money, not whether it ticks your boxes.
