I spent hours trying to figure out what I wanted after adding £50 to my PSN wallet. Was tempted by Duke 20th Anniversary but have the older version on Vita. Almost bought The Handsome Collection but didn't really enjoy the first game back in the day. Would have got the RE7 Season Pass but apparently the next story content is free.

Ultimately I pre-ordered Full Throttle (can't wait to play it again!) and renewed my membership by 12 months. Happy with that.

Gone Home was already on sale recently (7-22 February) so it's unlikely it'll be on sale again any time soon unfortunately.

They end a sale at midnight on a Wednesday but they usually start another sale earlier in the day (to run for another fortnight), leaving one day to choose from both sales.

I just noticed HARD CORPS: UPRISING as well. I've got it on 360, am stuck on the final boss! It's basically Contra, but graphics done by Arc System Works, so it looks a bit Blazblue-ey. It's a treat. If it ever gets BC on Xbox One, I'll have another crack at finishing it.

Batman Telltale (v1.05) crashed quite a few times on my PS4, had bizzarre graphical glitches and jerks / input delays that meant missing QTEs.
Having said all that, I really enjoyed the story :smiley:
Others on the same version, with the same hardware haven't had the same problems as me so you could be lucky.

Believe it or not, I'm rather tempted with no man's sky with the latest update.

If you enjoy RPGs, definitely - it's fairly lightweight, but beautifully done, well worth £3.

I got it in the last sale, bit frustrating as it's mainly dependant on crafting but u have to Google what items can be crafted in to what but without necessarily knowing what you need in the first place. Also most items have to be bought from other inmates and what they offer for sale is completely random so may be of no use. Played it until I escaped first prison then declared myself bored

Its just over £3 its worth a punt for that, thats like a lunch for most people

Had battlegrounds but wasn't overly keen, compared to past games, one reason being the backgrounds, hard to tell apart from the actual playing surface, leading to constant errors, and another being hard to find games online.

It's fairly average tbh... I think some games benefit more than others.
Task switching is definitely noticeable as there aren't heads moving all around the disk.

​Must be pretty good Ssd drive then as all tests I've read about improve loading time by about 25% but no other improvements to any gameplay.

I've got an SSD in one of my PS4s and it is a lot quicker...
General use and task-switching are a lot snappier and "Operations" on BF1 loads about 20-30 seconds before any of my friends.

I've had my other PS4 since release - it has a 2TB drive in it and after 22 months of O2 credit, it needs a little housekeeping from time to time :wink:

​Ssd doesn't really show much improvement compared to standard drives. 8tb+ is a lot of storage, I've hardly filled 2 and 80% of my games are digital.

Yeah tbh that one shocked me and I'm not really sure why they finally decided to cave on that. You tend to find with the Japanese console developers that they will plug security holes in their previous hardware by just removing that function completely in future systems. So the Vita needed custom memory cards and an internal battery because the PSP hacks were largely based on memory card and debug battery exploits. Likewise piracy on the PS3 was largely due to external hard drives and boot device order and I would bet anybody £10 that is why save data can't be shared between Switch consoles.

It will be a massive bonus though. I have personally avoided buying PS4 games on occasion because I only have a 1TB drive in my console and I refuse to keep deleting and redownloading things.

External drives open it up to 8TB and the performance of 3.5" disks will be better than any internal spinning disk at the same RPM.
It remains to be seen but I'm guessing that the external storage will be interchangable too, maximising the VFM of several cheap drives over 1 very large one.
Also, you will have the option of putting an affordable SSD in for boot / most-played games and putting the rest on cheaper storage.

Absolutely - proprietary memory nearly killed the PSP (until the PhotoFast dual MicroSD adapters came along) and they didn't learn a thing :disappointed:

...Which was another fail due to Sony hoarding again on digital content - had they allowed Amazon, Netflix, et al, it could have been a success.

I'm in the minority but I found Firewatch desperately dull (and I usually like walking simulators).
I've not played the Sherlock game (low scores) but the rest are safe bets.
Inside is very good but I think I still prefer LIMBO (the puzzles were a bit tougher).

I would highly recommend Layers of Fear, Abzu and Soma. But the prices for Sherlock Holmes: Devils Daughter, Firewatch, Inside, and Hitman are all fantastic too.

£14.99 is the cheapest the base game has ever been on PSN, but the GOTY edition was just on sale recently for £21.49.
If you're in no rush, I'd suggest waiting until that drops again. Going by PSprices it'll be on sale again in another month or so (8th November, 22nd December, 7th February).

It's a great console but sadly there's little demand for a portable console aimed at adults anymore. The high price of the memory cards and silly DRM system don't help much either.

Well to be fair that's about the same price a physical copy these days so the price itself isn't bad. That thing hit the bargain bin faster than a failed Eurovision entry.

Tell you what, the Vita is actually so underrated! I got mine for £80 on Ebay, and have only bought games when they have a good sale on the PS Store and i have managed to get plenty of PsOne, PSP and Vita games and i have only spent around £40.

Xcom, Bastion, Hotline Miami 1 & 2, Metal Gear Solid Series, Silent Hill, Tekken, Oddworld, Guacamelee, Limbo, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among us, etc.etc.

I played through Broforce when it came out on PS+ and it was riddled with annoying and frustrating bugs, including some unbelievable frame-rate drops. There's one incredibly frustrating bug that, on restarting after a death, your controls stop responding about 2-3 seconds after you begin playing, causing you to die because your dude has stopped moving and been shot, or fallen down a hole - every time you die. Managed to perservere and complete it before it was patched and haven't played since so can't advise if patches cleared it up.

I like the look of broforce (shovel Knight -not in deal - is another decent nes style game), but most places I look say the ps4 is a terrible port, presume they've sorted it then with an update or two?

Is Deus Ex Mankind Divided worth it? I played Human Revolution back in the day and it was fun and good but I only played through it once then and then year later once more (mainly due to the endings being just a choice), does this new one have more replayability?

Ohhh yes - Broforce is an amazing co-op game. I can't recommend it enough, bloody great fun.

If anybody hasn't played Limbo and Inside then £7.99 for both is an absolute bargain. Such an experience.

I enjoyed it, has a VERY indie feel, but lots of good dialogue and reasonable story. I rarely bother finishing games (I just play until I'm bored), but finished this one. The missus enjoyed it too (watching).

My brother rated Ethan Carter very highly, though it could be described as a walking simulator.
