​The pro console is more powerful but plays exactly the same games. Sometimes the pro has updated graphics frame rate and sometimes it has higher resolution like 4k. not many people really think it's worth it unless you have a 4k TV. Yes you will have to pay to play online though.

Horizon was inhouse development so selling the game with the console to temp future software sales in physical and digital content including subscription models, movies and music. Console is now a newer model and cheaper to produce. More consoles sold will increase future production and lower the cost of parts from suppliers (e.g AMD cpu) Also Sony know there are still Xbox gamers out there to temp (25 million Xbox one sales).

​Don't worry I had 2 order numbers also because they said the gold controller would not turn up until 4pm today so it gave a separate Res number. However I got a message saying it was ready to collect. Just show them the message like I did and that it was all part of the same order. I had no problems as the staff where aware of the offer. You could always screenshot the order or the offer on site for added safety though.

I would also like to know this and wonder if you could blag them in store as it clearly shows a white slim ps4 in the picture for the offer

Let me do a bit of explanation for all. Voucher codes on Argos system are inputted into different areas depending on where the code is coming from or the type of promotion. If they input media code on an area of the checkout system which only accepts normal codes advertised on their website, it will reject it. They need to enter media code at a different area of the website which some of the staff do NOT know about. So if it fails to recognise the code, then 100% the staff are doing the wrong thing, you probably need to prompt them to use it in another area of the same check out system and it will work. If the staff knows what they are doing, they will ask you how much is it, you tell them £10, they manually input £10 and apply the code afterwards and it works.

The cashier did it, I just said I had a media code for £10 off and gave her the number.

Managed to get original reservation of Horizon Zero swapped to Fifa 17 which is what I originally wanted and stayed at £199. Then used media code 16937 to bring the price down to £189,99 absolute bargain!!

I really wanted Nioh but it's sold out almost everywhere. I tried selling my ps4 on gumtree but no one even searches for it.

I ended up just selling my brand new ps4 and controller for 143 + 32 on Cex. Which means I bought a brand spanking new Horizon Zero Dawn for only 12 quid. If that's not a deal then I don't know what it is

This is insane, with the code you can basically just dump the entire bundle at CeX and have a £17 profit. too bad it sold out

Horizon Zero Dawn is worth more than Fifa. If you'd sold it on you could have bought FIFA with that money and still had a tenner or more left over.

I just went to pick up my reservation and lady at the till told me you can get a free game with my PS4. When she added Fifa 17, it jumped the price up to something like £234 and I showed her my reservation email quoting £199.99.

She then kindly added Fifa 17 for free! So all in all, I got PS4 500GB, Extra DS4, Horizon Zero, Fifa 17 for £199.99. I didn't even bother with the £10 Media Code at this point, I just accepted it before it was too late. Maybe it is worth trying to add the free game and you might get someone to add it on for free!

OOS for the console anywhere within 25 miles for me, went OOS as I was paying for it!

Thank you breeville, just managed to reserve a glacier white setup at a local Argos just 2 miles from home. Had a black one reserved 35 miles away which I was going to collect today, but had really wanted the white one. So now will have the one I wanted and save an hour and a halfs driving and fuel. Nice.

Which means I have a spare reservation for a black console, additional black controller and the horizon game. Valid until 17:30 tonight at Argos Dorchester, Dorset. PM me if it's any use to anyone. Though I expect most people will be busy chasing the white ones now!

has anyone tried to swap out their PS4 launch model HDD and into a slim they have picked up? It looks straightforward to do online, I was wondering if I could swap these, then simply trade in my old PS4 with the new hard drive in it as a 500Gb?

Watch out as places like CEX will not take a console with a different size HDD as it's classed as modded. They wouldn't touch my PS3 which was a 60GB with a new 500GB HDD (the original 60GB failed so had to put a new drive in).

Woman at checkout said that there is an extra free game, gave me a choice of Fifa 17, Resident Evil 7 or one other I cannot remember the name of....however she then said "that's £233.98 please", checked on the system and obviously it had added on the price of Resident Evil 7 at £43.99.

Had a word with a supervisor who said to just charge me the £233.98 then refund Resident Evil 7, making it £189.99.....happy days.

Go and get it changed. Batteries on the new ones last a lot longer before you have charge it again. Other than that, I don't really see much difference between the two.

The other main difference is you can have the V2 controller function like a wired controller whereas V1 controller doesn't do that

Can people confirm that the media code and the free code only worked in the new renovated stores? I tried it twice as I got 2 PS4's, one in the older stores both didnt work but the modern argos store the code worked and the option of the free game came up also,

the thing is free doesnt go through the system and it obviously isn't supposed to work with the free Horizon and Controller, so you have to try and work something out with the people at the till

I literally said I found this ps4 deal and media code online from this website. I took a screenshot of the code from this thread and showed it her. I explained others have used the code. She just simply typed the media code in and accepted it. No fuss or issues.

I did not get an email too. I just received a text with my ref number. I went earlier today to pick up my white ps4 bundle with media code with no issues.

Same deal woman at the counter was like "you get a free game with this would you like FIFA or cod" me and my dad looked at each other and I said FIFA please, and she put that through as well!!! Buzzing

On the front of your ps4 controller where the trackpad is. Check to see if you have a light strip flashing when you connect it to your ps4. If there is a light strip its v2. if theres no light strip then its V1

How do you tell when you collect it from Argos without opening it? Presume it says somewhere on the packaging?

which colour controller is it that you have?

If its a Red or Blue controller you are getting or have. It has to be all red colour or blue colour from the bottom of the controller and the back. If the bottom or back is black coloured then its V1. If its Gold or Silver you are getting V2 doesn't have any black on bottom and back of controller. And the Urban Camo V2 controller is green coloured from back

Look at the buttons on the controllers. If they look Matte finished then its V2. Otherwise if they are a shiney finish its V1 And also the anologue sticks on the black v2 controller should be a bit grey. Since on the original they were black

i believe with black ones on the packaging it says jet black for V2 ones. On the V1 packaging it didn't saying anything. And the direction buttons and shape buttons are a bit grey in colour rather than black

I think I may have found an easier way to check if its V2 or not. On the bottom of the packaging. Where its got the Model Number CUH ZCT. If it has a number 2 next to it its V2. If it has 1 then its V1. Just checked it against my old red and black ps4 controller packaging and it has a number 1 next to ZCT

now how many people did try to return just a console and told the staff, the game and extra controller are free so I am keeping it ...:laughing:

Same. My launch day model is working fine albeit the fans are a little loud. I have a slim reserved for later, if I sell my launch version and the game and pad the console will only cost £30ish for a fresher version. But do I really need it.......

They asked me which game do I want COD or Fifa 17, as well as the extra controller and game. I bottled it and told the staff it was only 1 game & extra controller.

PS got asked asked to show the media code (where it's from etc.) I just said customer service gave it me over the phone and said if I come in store, staff should be able to put it through the tills. No further questions asked was put straight through.

Picked my Argos deal up in Stockport at the weekend. When the member of staff put through the reservation code for the PS4 I saw the list of Fifa / C.O.D. / Res7 pop up on his screen but he didn't mention it. I asked what it was and he said it they were add ons they could offer to add to the deal, but then laughed and said paid for add ons, not for free!

Seemed pretty clued up, looks like lots of people have been served by incompetent staff and snagged an extra free game, which is why the price goes up each time this game is added, and it had to manually overridden to get the price back down to £199.99

In my case res7 was OOS at the branch I was in where as COD and Fifa 17 were in stock, so they reserved it for me at another branch and made a note on receipt, when I went to pick up the free game no questions where asked and I was given the game :smiley:

Gotta love this deal, my near launch PS4 I was trusting less, already took it apart and reapplied thermal paste. Traded it in at CEX alongside Resident Evil 7 for £139...£50 for a brand new PS4 Slim white console, Horizon Zero Dawn and two V2 controllers. Far from a shabby upgrade after 40 months.

In the minority here but I way prefer the look of the slim. Played Horizon Zero Dawn last night for 3 hours and could not hear any noise of the fan ramping up.

Just picked this up from Stratford Westfield. Media code didnt work as she wanted proof for of an email - felt too cheeky to say about the customer service thing.

Managed to get Resident Evil 7 thrown in as it was out of stock in the shop so I could pick it up later for free!

I managed to get one picked up on Sunday in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. Completed a 3 hour round trip from Derry to collect it. Took it home switched out the 2TB hard drive from my old PS4 and then sold the old PS4 to CEX for £130 with a 2nd controller - basically a new PS4 slim glacier white, 2 controllers and Horizon Zero Dawn for £70!!
I was offered the free game at the till and the price did go up to £229 so I cancelled that and ran out of the store.

Hi she just offered it to me, I chose res 7 which was out of stock, she wrote on the pick up receipt 'offer for free' and to speak to the manager if they asked me to pay. Didn't really do much was all luck!

Console price back up to £229.99 but the free game & Controller bundle offer is valid until Sunday 12th March. Was planning to order one at the £199.99 price on Thursday since I get paid on Friday- that plan is foiled!
