It's not 350 more than your standard PS4 though is it. It's certainly worth the extra, just have to look at the Pro enhanced games, and the old games improved with boost mode. I just started playing Just Cause 3 again because it runs like a dog on the standard PS4. Silky smooth on the Pro.
By the way, do you post in threads for graphics cards telling everyone that your onboard graphics are sufficient? does anyone care?
The Pro is 100 quid extra give or take, people fork out hundreds for a new video card on their PC's. People also fork out 280 for a weak nintendo handheld......100 is nothing lol

Can anyone who has managed to get one of these confirm if the bundle comes in one box? (eg a HZD branded PS4 Pro box)
I got into a massive argument earlier at a Sainsburys that isn't even local to me, but had 1 PS4 Pro in stock. They put it aside for me and I drove 30+ miles to collect it, but when I got there the lady I had spoken to - who had said "with HZD, £349" when I asked about stock - had gone home and the till was ringing through the console and game at the full prices.
I couldn't get them to honour the bundle deal for love nor money, and there was no sign of the bundle being advertised in the aisle. After much moaning I managed to get £30 off as a goodwill gesture.

All Microsoft are doing is adding more graphical power..... and the design will no doubt resemble a breeze block, what else are you expecting? a brain implant device?
The graphical power increase between the PS4 and PS4 Pro is just over double, and judging by the specs, the Scorpio isn't twice the power of the Pro, i think i read something like 40%.
The reason they are taking so long is because they thought they could get by with the Xbox One S, Sony were already winning the console war and then announce an even more powerful version forcing Microsoft to announce something and quick! The Scorpio was their next project on paper and they had to announce something out of desperation and figure out the intricacies later.
By the time the Scorpio is released, it's already out of date graphically compared with latest PC graphics, so not sure how it can ever change the playing field, particularly when it seems extra graphical muscle isn't your bag!
It's just going to be a Xbox One on steroids, if the PS4 Pro wasn't your cup of tea, the Scorpio isn't going to appeal either.
Let's not beat it around the bush here, i love technology and have the Xbox One S, Nintendo Switch and PS4 Pro, and will no doubt purchase a Scorpio
I no longer build gaming PC's because i cannot help myself and will always upgrade to the latest and greatest, when dual video cards first came about i decided to call it a day there and limit myself to just consoles for this reason. And it's not about affordability, I just need to keep things in check.

I'm fully expecting M$ to release something better than the pro, given the time they are taking so wouldn't be surprised if it forced Sony into doing something different. Thats all. For a current PS4 owner the PS Pro isnt exactly alluring is it. Well not for me. You said it yourself - youre expecting scorpio to be better again so why wouldnt that change the playing field?
No one knows how powerful scorpio is going to be, might be ****? Might not be that alluring to current xbone owners?
Lets face it, the ps pro is a 4k add on. If Apple had done it it would be a Playstation 4S.

Experience? only experience i've had up til now is that of an underpowered console, only accepted because it's a handheld.
I play PS4 games on the vita using my Dualshock controller.
Interesting, so the main difference between the PS4 and the PS4 Pro is extra graphical muscle, correct?
So, the Scorpio is another PC based console, with extra graphical muscle. (naturally more than the Pro being that it's being released a year afterwards) - and we don't even know the price yet, probably north of 400 quid
So one is not worth the extra cash, yet the other will change the playing field??
Great argument!

Luckily some of us choose to have both. My PC for when I want to have a series gaming session at my desk on ultrawide. PS4 pro when I'm relaxing on sofa playing the Sony exclusives. And that's key, I personally want to be able to play both platforms exclusives so it is worth paying to play.

Well, sorry to be condescending, but i fail to see your point.
The price difference between the PS4 and PS4 Pro are for new consoles, your sarcastic question was asking me to find you a deal where you trade in a used PS4 for a new Pro for 100 quid....
Come on now
Was i??
Sony PS4 = 199.99 new where did you get 300 from???
You can get a vita for around 80 quid no problem
And whos hating? i have a switch, and entitled to my opinion
ripkord
11 Mar 171#64
So you've compared a £300+ console plus a £200+ handheld console to a £280 one and expect the same results? Aye the Vita might be able of mirroring the PS4 but that's not even close to being the same thing as the switch. I have a Vita and PS4 and the mirroring thing isn't anywhere near as seamless as the switch, not to mention being forced into using that **** rear touchscreen for the missing buttons. You keep on hating though.
As for the PS4 pro I'd rather spend the cash on a new gfx card for my pc as the PS4 pro will always lose hard to a dedicated gaming rig.
Anyway that being said, this is a good deal considering the price of the console elsewhere but is not good value IMO.

I honestly do not see this happening as casual gamers are the ones who buy consoles the most hell even the most casual games cod Fifa ect sell the most and are #1 every year and where taking millions and millions of units sold and the matter of the fact is casuals will not purchase another console so soon period. So it isn't a great business move for Sony
jayjayuk1234
11 Mar 17#59
I don't see it as fragmented, the 'Slim' and 'Phat' PS4 are the same (aside from optical out) they just look different. I don't see this as 2 different consoles, it's more a facelift. There were countless iterations of the PS3 and Xbox 360
The console market has to adapt and change to demand, this kind of setup doesn;'t seem to have affected the PC. The PS4 Pro and PS4 run along side by side very well. There are still many that have a standard PS4, that's all they want and need. Which is fair enough. If you want to latest games with the most up to date graphics then you need to keep upgrading your hardware.
The PC architecture lends to this kind of setup, you pay your money and take your choice
You can be sure of one thing, Sony won't allow a rival format to get ahead without doing anything
daBluone
11 Mar 17#58
Console market is different though. Three consoles already is fragmented for consumers with the standard PS4, Slim and Pro. Pro 2 in such a short period of time would be really shiiting on upgraders to the pro. And with the recent patch/software upgrade it's only scratching the surface of pros power. It may happen but I personally feel it's unlikely but can admit I'm biased as I've just bought a bloody pro!

11 Mar 17#57

Microsoft announced a new console shortly after the Xbox One S, what's the difference?
They may just release a Pro 2, it wouldn't harm the existing Playstation base.
That would be like saying releasing a new video card isn't consumer friendly for PC gamers.
It was obvious when these platforms switched to PC based hardware that this was the direction console gaming was heading.
Having a platform with multiple consoles, each with varying graphical ability and price range is not unfeasible and makes sense to me.
Justsuperman
11 Mar 172#55
If you believe that you're really dumb Sony will not make another console after 2 years of the pro been out in late 2018 it's not a consumer friendly move and causal gamers will not purchase it. Earliest is 2020 and a slight chance of 2019 and I mean late 2019 'november' here's another quote from the article you have seen. "Thong isn’t the only analyst to chime in on the possibility of the PS5. Just a few weeks back, Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter predicted that Sony will launch its next-generation home console in 2020, around the same time that 4K TV adoption will rise significantly. However, Pachter’s release window seems far more realistic at this point; 2018 is far too premature, particularly as PS4 Pro has only just hit stores.

I would hope it was more powerfull than the Vita, it's 6 years old now!
Let's face it. the switch is underpowered, the VIta can run better looking games via streaming from a PS4.
Most of us are not going to be all sat in a circle with handhelds playing Mario at the train station or Airport like the adverts!:smile: that's just sad, most multiplayer is played at home, so they should have had a powerful base unit and used streaming. That base unit would have been great with a bluray drive so people can play their Wii-U games, as an apology for Loyal Nintendo owners who had their Wii-U abandoned after such a short time.
Moonwolf1976
11 Mar 17#53
Errr a weak Nintendo handheld?, are you serious, its easily the most powerful handheld on the market it blows PS Vita and new 3ds out of the water! So it not weak by any means, to top that off it also plugs into your TV via a dock to play on the big screen amazing! Then just to add a bit more value, you can also detach the controllers to make two for a two player with you mates or link upto 8 nintendo switches together wirelessly for multiplayer mayhem!. Its somewhere between ps3 and ps4 in performance terms and ahead of wii u, incredible considering it's a handheld. You are clearly under rating the new Nintendo.

PS4 Pro is worth the extra money, you wouldn't see me touching a non pro version of the console ever again, it feels ancient compared.
As for this 'PS5' talk - they've already confirmed that console generations will be no more. Games that are released on Project Scorpio (Xbox's version of the PS4 Pro) will also be playable on the Xbox One. I do believe that they're just going to keep 'upgrading' the current hardware every few years and games will support the old consoles until the console cannot run it anymore.
As somebody said above - 'Consoles are now small cheap expendable PCs'. Project Scorpio and PS4 Pro are basically a mid-range 2017 PC, which for the price, is amazing.
Snarf_Dude
11 Mar 171#42
I love my PS Pro, it's worth the extra money in my opinion. You can Live Stream in 1080p without the 15 minute limit. As mentioned the Boost mode will further inhance older pre-Pro games so it's a winner.
If Microsoft tout the scorpio as a new console generation, then you will see a PS5 next year.
You have no chance of the PS4 being a mainstay till 2020. The simpler architecture allows them to now throw out as many upgraded consoles as they want with little to no issues in regards to backwards compatibility.
Consoles are now small cheap expendable PCs. Nothing more.
Awesome deal btw, Horizon is the most beautiful game this gen and having to only spend £350 to get it along with a machine that is capable of 4k is ridiculous value.
Have this playing in 4k HDR and its outstanding. The game itself is far and away better than the new Zelda. Its a living breathing world vs fields after fields with the same enemy types popping up every now and then.

There are differences in games that have pro patches and newer releases made with the pro in mind (e.g. horizon). Boost mode stabilises older games that haven't received a patch. You may not be able to see the difference but it is definately there.
