How much extra is the price for a family of 4? And is this flying from Birmingham airport?

Not a 5 star, but still worthy of heat.

I went there 2 years ago, the alcoholic drinks are very, very basic. Its very windy on the beach, but the hotel is fine.
The speciality restaurants are a joke. They have specified seating times for everyone, so its a mad rush for everyone to all sit at say, 7pm and the food available is exactly the same as what you can get in the buffet restaurant - It was that bad, that we just ate at the buffet, which was much quieter and civilized.

Crap hotel if you are used to 5 stars, ok if you don't mind 3 star, but fantastic sunshine.

I went last year (admittedly not to Boa Vista but Santa Maria, on Sal) and I'd agree with the first post by Benskia.

Plus as everything is imported the food isn't great - or even edible half of the time! Good Portuguese food (former Portuguese colony) is at best average, bad Portuguese food cooked in UN Aid cooking oil (which mainly consists of palm oil) is a whole different level. Unless you are into watersports (not the Trump kind, though from all of the prostitutes in the bars late at night that could be a maybe?) it's pretty boring,. Impossible to lie on the beach due to the strength of the wind. For children swimming in the sea would be dangerous even on good days.

Cape Verde is a bit 'Emperors New Clothes' at the minute and everyone who has been won't admit that it's a pretty crap.

Though if your idea of a holiday is sitting in a beach bar in the sun with a few beers you will love it. The nightlife is awful, get as drunk as possible in the afternoon and sleep until the next day.

Been there last year. It is not a 5* resort but not bad. It is a quiet place and nothing like 18 - 30 holiday. Beach is fantastic but the time we were there wind was a factor and red flag was up hence no swimming as waves were very high. Food was okay . For the price this is a good deal. People who are concerned about security in the traditional holiday spots should consider this as a destination as it is very safe.

There is plenty to do & see. The hotel may not be a UK 5 star but its comparable with local 5 star hotels. Food & drinks were good & the staff were great.
Overall for the price we paid (£750 each for 14 nights last easter) it was an excellent holiday.

Dont go. No way are these hotels in Cape Verde 5* to any other countries' standards.
Nothing to do outside the hotels. No sights to see.
Rubbish food. Rubbish drinks.
Nice beaches - but do a google search to see all the warnings about the strength of the waves / tide.
False economy seeing this as a budget way to get the Caribbean experience.
