Phoned Plusnet customer services yesterday and today and got straight through on both occasions.
Asked them to confirm if they charge as a MMS (33p per message) if you send three text messages to the same number and was told, no they don't.
Also asked whether they charge for messsges longer than 160 characters and was told yes they do. However I've never been charged not even once and have sent many messages much longer than that. Not sure if it has anything to do with most of those being sent via iMessage or not?
I was given the option to have MMS switched off at their end which I opted for. Had already disabled it within settings on my phone but now have that also as a backup.
Not been charged for anything outside of what is included in my tariff during the past 13 months or so.

Just in case this helps anyone else, my voicemail wasn't working correctly off the bat after setting it up via 555. This is the solution posted on the plusnet forum and entering the first code below worked for me.
If anyone else is experiencing the same issue with their Voicemail after a port-in; please try dialing the following codes within your keypad: **004*+447870020555*11*30# OR **004*07870020555*11*30#.

So my sim came on Tuesday and I called 500 to give them my PAC straight away. Customer services are UK based and my wait to speak to someone was only 30 seconds. The deadline was 6pm for next working day which I missed so it didn't go through until today. My old sim with O2 went dead around mid day and my old number was transferred and working on the new sim for 3.30pm. All in very pain free so if that is what's holding anyone back I wouldn't be concerned.
I've just done a comparison with the EE PAYG sim card I'd previously ordered to check the signal and they are practically indistinguishable signal wise with both having strong 4g signal of -90 to -95dBm (using Samsung S6). Couldn't compare downloads but on plusnet I am getting 26mbps download and 9.89mbps upload, both much better than I was getting with O2.

this seems like a very good deal.
however i travel every 4-5 months to ireland.
ATM Im on O2 so it costs £2 for O2 travel service.
(For £1.99 a day in European O2 Travel destinations, you'll get all the data you need, 120 minutes to make and receive calls and 120 texts to send each day within European O2 Travel destinations and back to the UK.)
Does anyone know if plusnet offer a similar deal?
On a separate notes can anyone recommend a SIM only deal - min 200 min, 1 Gb Internet, 50 txt. Travel to ireland so would like some deals on roaming. TIA

Incase it helps anyone, I called EE who couldn't match this deal with me being a new customer. So I called Plusnet and asked if they'd be offering their £10/mth unltd mins and texts deals again anytime soon (as that's the one I really wanted) and said yes if that's what you want we can do that. He put it through as 'moneysaving expert' offer so it must be a deal they've negotiated with them but I'm now on £10/mth, unltd mins and txts with 4GB data on 30 day contract. Just incase someone else wanted this thought I'd give you heads up

I just spoke to their "retensions department" asking if they would upgrade me from the 2GB 7.50pm deal to the 3GB 8.50pm deal and they said no and gave me my PAC which I received by text in a few minutes.
I asked on them on chat a few days ago and they said it was only for new customers. On UKHD I had read that it is for both new and existing customers. Plus I'd read (on here) that if I spoke to their retentions then they would upgrade me without issue. No so,
It would appear that their retentions "department" are not interested in retaining customers. On the other hand EE retentions are, so instead of porting that number away, I will be porting the plusnet mobile number to EE (it's a more easily remembered number).

If you are already with EE and are considering this deal (plusnet uses the EE network), it could be worth giving them (EE) a call and seeing what they can offer first. Don't know anything about plusnet as a EE reseller, but EE has always been brilliant for me. They can be a bit flakey as a network in some remote areas such as the coasts around Anglesey etc.. But then again so is every other network provider.

My experience is with Virgin but since they are also using EE's 4G network I'd expect it to be the same.
I was on EE very briefly (when I first got my phone) and was really impressed with the 4G speeds and a few times I saw about 70Mbps. Since changing to Virgin the speed test results (same location, multiple tests) have been about closer to 30Mbps. So in my experience, yes, it's slower. To be fair, Virgin's adverts never claim to provide the same speeds as EE, just that they use their fast network. And it's one of the reason these virtual networks can be cheaper.
But don't get me wrong, approx half of 'super fast' is still pretty fast! Considering the price, I'm not complaining.

I've been with Giffgaff for 3 years with the intention that "I can constantly swap to the best deal as there's no minimum contract" but haven't been happy since unlimited data went to 2GB @ £12. I'm now getting 1GB more data, double the minutes for £3.50/month less. The icing on the cake is my new phone (ZUK Z2) plays better with 4G from EE as it doesn't work at all on o2

Today the porting of the number went through and the other people reporting the same on the plusnet forums also reported that it had been done (https://community.plus.net/t5/Mobile/Transferring-Number-Nightmare/td-p/1420248)
Given that I receive authentication codes via SMS to use some websites, moving the number was a PITA. Last time I moved (from Three to ID), my number was unavailable for less than one hour. I think next time I'll get a PAYG and use that number just for a few days while the porting happens.
Live and learn.
One comment about plusnet, compared to ID. with ID I had 4G everywhere, with plusnet my connection often goes back to 3G. This is not a biggy for me, but it might be for other people.

I'm looking at the following, as I use Amazon frequently.
Unlimited Minutes, Unlimited Text, 6GB for £15/Month with £60 iTunes or Amazon Gift Card. So works out at £10 per month for me.

Plusnet is having issues porting numbers from other providers, so if you do take this offer, wait a few days to port your current number. I got a new line and started the porting process last week, and now my old line is unusable... which sucks.
I called their customer services number who told me "there's more information about this problem on the website"... where I wonder.
Works out six months before a direct debit is taken... All this because number took a week to PAC over... His number was floating around in cyber space

Mrs and say give me unlimited mins and text and 4g of data or you're leaving. They'll do it like they done for me
been with plusnet for about 6 weeks, no one could call me on three occasions each time they said it was a mast issue though once they were going to send out a new sim, turns out that the 3 occasions was actually much more than that as I later find out I had missed calls from hospital and doctors. called up for PAC over the weekend and given it without any questions asked, which would have been good normally but all I wanted was someone to fix the issue. Called back to reduce the package I was on while I move to someone else, told the guy why and no response. :disappointed:
To go for that Virgin one myself but added it up and this one is better
