That's how I paid for it. PSN always uses your credit balance first for everything. Only Xbox restrict you from buying certain things with account credit which makes no sense at all really.

Memberships are cross platform. This is geared at PS4 owners but would work with the PS3 just the same.

Sony is actually doing you a favour here. There have been so many reports of people getting hacked because their credit card or paypal info was saved on the system and used to buy games or Fifa points. Amazon and CD keys are the best way of topping up. Keep your credit card or paypal info away from PSN.

Not sure about paypal method but when I added my card it then proceeds to payment and if you have credit already it tried to take it from that first (did for me).
You should be able to check before it finalises tbh but I did use my card.

I've had hellish problems trying to get my PSN account to accept any type of payment method since day one. Even trying to add on my verified Paypal account or a debit card that is verified and registered and matches my exact billing address and ties in with my account information keeps failing. Reading on forums and there are tonnes of people with the same problem. Only way i can fund stuff is to buy pre-paid cards from the likes of CD Keys and redeem the code to top up my balance before making purchases.

Just bought this, thanks for posting. Paid with paypal, from my phone and i got this error saying it may not have been processes, but sure enough it was, email confirmation, paypal notification and plus now working. Tricky Towers here i come! Cheers!

Just got it working via the PS4 console itself. I think I might of been getting the weird message on PC due to the fact I had no payment method on file. Even though I had credit lol.
All working now. If anyone gets the weird error, try doing it this way or adding a payment method.

That will be it. The card on my PSN account expired ages ago but I had that auto-top up function enabled at the time of buying this.

Before you buy it does say you can cancel so it don't renew. So should be fine. I am going to turn mine off too
