This is a good sign price-wise of the Pro becoming more 'affordable' - but it's surely making it more difficult for me to sell my two week old unit for £300 ... no wonder I have had little interest :smirk:

Managed to snag my month old one for £250 used but seen that most are around the £300 mark, maybe try £295 as looks a bit better than 300 lol?
You don't NEED the 4K yet to get a better gaming experience. Not all games on the PS4 run at full res and framerate. They do on a pro. (as such) So you will see a difference on pro enhanced games even at 1080p

Heat for the price! On the fence as I want to upgrade to a pro. But waiting this long and E3 happening soon, I know Sony will have a limited edition pro/ colour, larger TB etc. So tempted to wait. Regardless a good price for now and I've seen it on a decent 4K HDR tv and it does look a lot better.

Tempting, the disc drive on my PS4 seems to have gone. Won't take in discs and constantly cycles through eject noise. Anyone else had this?
Andy@XCite to Mikey1610
28 Mar 171#14
It might be that the eject button has stuck. It seems to be a common fault with the original PS4s (it has since been redesigned).
Is yours one of the first generation PS4s?
Do you use the eject button physically? (I always eject from the application menu to do my best to avoid this fault)
There are various videos on the net about how to fix or remove the eject button.

I have a release console with the capacitive buttons on the console and a C chassis with the push buttons and the release one sounds like it struggles to take in and eject discs, so yes I can see where you're coming from.
Luckily I barely use the old one

I wouldn't make the jump personally. Not until it's guaranteed that all Pro enhanced games offer supersampling on 1080p tvs. Best to wait until you have a 4K TV. May be even cheaper then too.

If you get one then remember that you need to enable Boost Mode from the settings for older games

Yes its first generation and I've always used the eject button on console. I've been on a few forums and followed a few tips but nothing seems to have worked. I'm thinking a small piece of plastic from the drive may have broken off as I can hear something rattling around when I turn my console over. I'll try ejecting from the menu and if that doesn't work it'll be going on fleabay for spares or repair as all my games are on disc.

Its kind of why I've held back from upgrading my ps4 to the pro.
I got that Philips 55inch 4k t.v. deal recently, but most games look great on it on the upscale via the tv.
When the pros list gets larger I'll get one then. At the moment it's a very small list of improvements.

I think it is too late to use eject from the menu to solve the issue, it was something to do to try and prevent the issue in the first place (more of advice for other people really).
I have heard that people have actually removed the button/switch when they have had this issue.
Always hated those silly buttons tbh.

heh. It's £315 'worth of difference in fidelity' I meant, not the difference between PS4 and PS4 Pro. If I had a spare £315 floating around that I didn't need then, yeah, I'd go for it.

Intriguing. I wonder when Sony would have to announce such a thing to really undermine the Scoprio launch but not their own Pro/Slim sales?

I would agree on that, on the simple basis that Horizon Zero Dawn already looks so awesome and runs without a noticeable drop in FPS on my C Chassis PS4

Does the PS4 Pro have less noise than the original PS4? The original PS4 is so bloody noisy whenever it is turned on and does anything like loading.

28 Mar 17#41
They're about as noisy as the model just before the slim. (Not the launch one, the revision that used less power  ). It's not constant though. The fans go up and down. Definitely quieter than a launch model though if it's not in a closed space.
