No mate, Brexit made it this expensive to start with. Seeing as the pound fell greatly vs the dollar, and oil is priced in dollars. made it more.

if you own a run of the mill car then you would be throwing money away buying performance fuel. you should always be buying wherever is cheapest. it wont ruin your car at all. biggest myth out there.

if you own something worth talking about then tesco momentum is good enough. if you own something people stop and stare at and take pics then run v power or bp ultimate.

Just been to my local Morrisons and just a 1p drop on Diesel and Unleaded since this morning Diesel now 115.9 and Unleaded 113.9

So why is this left in deals when someone posted a 'deal' earlier letting people know that stamps were increasing by 1p. It was moved to misc as it is only 'info' which is exactly what this is yet it's allowed to stay. Either way that was poor advice about fuel. Adding a certain type isn't about perceived desirability, it's about what your car was designed to take. Premium diesels are a waste of money - extra detergents/Cetane boosters are much cheaper per L to add yourself. Tesco Momentum is every bit as good as Shell V-power and around 15p/L cheaper. Whether you're driving an Audi S3 or a Bugatti Veyron, both fuels will do the same job on a car set up to run on higher octane fuel.

My 99g C02 golf which gets to 60 in around 10 seconds also has a 45 litre tank and can return 700m. Obviously VW exaggerated their figures but doesn't alter how efficient new generation VW engines are anyway.

You can buy in whatever unit you want , times the price by 4.54 et voila! It won't change how much petrol you get to a tank and how much you pay . You could even invent your own unit of capacity and convert to that, still won't make any difference.

At the height of the scandal ( and when exchange rates favoured the pound) they could be had brand new for under 13k, I was happy with the deal despite the general obsession with the fake data which was irrelevant to me, I could make my own mind up about how efficient and good value a car is.

I'm self employed so time is money, also i've heard the petrol you get is a lower quality, I just fill up wherever near where i'm working at the time i need it. I've just purchased a xbox one s for a brilliant price from a post on here ordered online so doesn't cost me anytime. I will also try to save money wherever i can but not by sitting on a forecourt staring at a car park of cars.

Yeah, it's almost as though they purchase in advance to buffer against movement but at the same time being contractually obligated to pay their suppliers at the market rate if it increases.

Maybe moaners like yourself would like to setup as a fuel supplier nationwide, selling millions of liters of fuel a week and take a 2 million loss on every wholesale decrease just because little old Mable in her 1.2 15 year old Fiesta thinks she is being done over on the £10 of petrol she puts in a month and wants to see prices reflected at the pump instantly and screw the million liters you have in the forecourt tanks and on the way to them that has been purchased at a higher price.

You should be putting in the rated fuel you car was optimized to run on. In your case along with the mini , im sure if you check behind both fuel lids it will have 98 stamped on it. Yeah i know it will run on less.

I would suggest you stick to one octance rated, i.e.99 and let your fuel trim adapt and you may find a better return from your engine.

Heat for deal and lowest cost fuel around.

Petrols deals are deals worth chasing.

Why? Because if people gravitate towards the fuel that is cheaper then it puts pressure on all the other sellers to reduce prices and gets them competing against each other.

If everybody just pays what they ask then they are not going to be inclined to reduce the price.

I lump them in the range of Porsche Boxsters and Mercedes SLKs - i.e. cars for people who can't afford the premium models (i.e. M4, 911 and C/S Class, respectively - all of which come as convertibles also) but want to look like they're rich.

They're fitting for women but it's a bit sad to see a grown man in it if you ask me.

I recently sold my 2005 Ford focus. I owned it from new. I covered 160,000 miles in eleven years. 98% of the fuel used was from Tesco pumps. It never missed a beat. Good luck with your expensive Esso petrol.

ive used all supermarket petrols in various cars and never had any problems. the cars start, the engines run smooth, they drive and get me to where I want to go.

same, anybody who claims that supermarket fuel is garbage compared to esso fuel is a snob, who probably drives an expensive car, can afford esso prices, and deserves to be ripped off while they buy their esso fuel, apple devices etc. Just remember, when we see you driving past us, breaking the speed limit in your audi, we dont look at you and think " i want to be him/her ", we think "P3n15"

to get Ethanol free fuel now .Did try to get ethanol free for vintage motor bike as it
caused issues . Murco and Esso supreme was suppose to be ethanol free but tested it

The duty on fuel is around 72p + VAT. I may be a penny or two out.
So it really isn't poor value, unless you can build an oil rig, drill, transport it, refine it, move it again sell it and make a profit yourself.
The Govt. sets the base price, ie the Duty+VAT. Anything above is a bonus. If it was sold by the garage for 1p the price would still have the Duty+VAT added.

To be absolutely fair the Z4 is still 231bhp, which will still outperform most standard road cars. In terms of 'sports' quality though it will be drastically lacking. The Mazda 6 clocks at 252 bhp without even attempting to call itself a sports car.

Not necessarily.

Basically, if your car has a knock sensor it can advance the ignition to benefit from higher octane fuel, with more power, better fuel consumption or both. If it doesn't, there's no benefit from higher octane fuel, and you may as well run standard unleaded. In fact, you may even see worse performance from higher octane fuel.

My Caterham race car doesn't have a knock sensor, so I run it on standard supermarket unleaded. If there was even one horsepower to be gained by running expensive fuel, I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

There is also the question of additives and detergents. Some would argue that the better fuels have better additive packages, but I'm very sceptical. I'll run the occasional tank of Shell V-Power, but I doubt it makes a difference. Then again my engine gets rebuilt every couple of years, so there's not much chance for gunge to build up.
