Picked one up in Lidl yesterday. Great at recovering sharp edges that have gone past redemption with a sharpening stone - It has an aggressive wheel (and spare) so be gentle
This is a 65W model and I believe the almost identical items sell at £30+ from Silverline/Clake/Ozito.
Tried it with some HSS drills and some chisels and has brought them back to life.
Practice on some cheap knives before using it on your sushi knives as it is aggressive.

Lidl also have digital calipers at £9.99 at the moment.. I bought a pair, and they're really good for precision measurements ...

+1 for the belt sander suggestion. I sharpened all my chisels a couple of weeks ago on a 60 grit belt. The chisels are good quality and did not adversely affect the grit on the belt.
Also useful for tidying up screwdrivers.

I bought one last year - I wouldn't waste my money on it. It doesn't sharpen drills with the correct relief and a pain to set it up in the jig. The knife sharpening is very hit and miss. Just gathering dust along side my normal bench grinder which is what I've gone back to using. Cold

Had this when laston offer... went back next day :-(
Does a good angle on hss drills, but far too abrasive... more so than the grinder!
Chisels are held by magnet, on a plastic sliding guide..
Its a toy :-(

I like sharpening my Dill before cooking with it too, it gives my food an edge :sunglasses:
(Hot, will try to find one! Hooray for more stuff that goes in the shed and gets used once a year or less! )

depends on what the grits made of and I know its only £15 but if its not good quality it'll do more damage than good , anyone thats not confident to hold a blade to get the correct angle can use a clamp type guide that holds the blade at to give it the correct angle
tempted but as the op said it does look aggressive and I don't want to ruin my knives. good for a new edge then finish with a stone id guess?

wont a belt sander sharpen things better than this ?

It may do. My problem has always been keeping the correct angle when sharpening stuff and this keeps it the same - I am sure there are other better ways but this is just £15 so what the heck.

I got the Clarke one as a present which is similar. I not tried it on drill bits yet but it's practically useless for chisels. The honing guide has slight side to side movement and as the grinding wheel is very narrow it is no good for any chisels 1/2" or wider because it isn't wide enough. It may be adequate to bring a damaged chisel back to life before sharpening it properly the old fashioned way with a block. I ave a grinder that will do that. A waste of money if you want it for chisels and you already have a bench grinder.

Yep, i noticed the side to side movement also - requires a bit of pressure on the plastic to keep it straight - I would not pay Machine Mart £45 (assuming the CMPS1 is also 65W) but for £15 this will do my general use chisels and the HSS bits I use for piloting and can be used in the room I am renovating rather than a trip to the the other house with workshop where the bench grinder is.
