Strength is within the structure not with top cover of leather, faux or real.
So a real leather topping could have equally poor structural strength but guess you will be more happy to be ripped off in that way.
Personally real lather is more important for sofas having heavy wear on them unlike a bed where there is almost no wear to leather but to mattress.

good solid bed i did own this for several years, however due to the design some of the mattress goes under the headboard so the length is reduced so me being 6ft my feet popped over the end.

I suppose this is a good deal. I've just purchased my first bed and I'm still in a state of shock as to the prices . spent a day shopping in many bed shops. I thought I would be paying £500 max for a superking with mattress, how little did I know. £1400 later and I still only ended up with a "cheap" mattress and bed. What a joke

Did you shop around? Or just looking in Benson for Beds and similar? Only a Kingsize as oppose to super KS but I recently got a good Layezee (Silent Night) divan with mattress for £360 delivered and 12 months interest free on Very.

Cancel your order if you are in the cooling off period - ours was 1600 pocket sprung, natural fillings, with box spring and headboard for less than £500 from happy beds on amazon/ebay - had it 3+ years and couldn't be happier

The big retail park retailers seem to loathe putting in mid range matresses on show. They only seem to sell terrible coil spring mattresses, disguised ownbrand mattresses (that are overpriced) and high end ones.
I had a pretty terrible experience shopping for my bed, ended up taking a gamble online on a bed I hadn't tried. Paid off in the end as I'm happy with my new bed. Ended up paying under £500 for a Kingsize 1600spring Divan bed.
The advice I got for mattress shopping seemed pretty spot on:
Famous brand beds charge a lot more and often don't give you the quality to match. Don't be afraid to go for a less famous smaller British maker.
1000 pocket springs is the minimum for a mattress that lasts, avoid coil springs (even miracoil ones).
Good sign of quality is hand tufting (when you get a mattress with bobbles on the top) and side stitching (lines of little dimples on the side, keeps the mattress stronger at the edges, be careful of patterned materials designed to mimic side stitching).

Straight man is I,had this bed for two years good strong bed,the angled back is is comfy watching telly or reading!
Its negative is its very low and added 3" wood spaces to the feet and centre support to make it a good height to get in and out of bed.

I've just looked them up, the equivalent matress with superking divan and ottoman is £900something, so still a bit of a saving. I will have a think about this. Cheers
