Mine arrived this morning and like you box was all in Chinese along with the enclosed instructions. Easy to find English manual on Xiaomi website but wondered whether you encountered any issues with setup i.e. was it in Chinese? I'm just charging it up now as battery was at zero and I'm impatient to see if you can set up in English!

Don't give up hope just yet, mine arrived today and I ordered on the 15th March. I also contacted Gearbest on Monday to enquire as it had passed the '25 days' and got the same reply. I wasn't too concerned as everything I have ordered from them in the past has turned up...eventually!

My band arrived yesterday but seems to be faulty. Counting steps while I am sitting. I have nearly done 20k around the house today (It must have assumed I live in a mansion!!). Is there a way I can get around with this!? Will gearbest agree to send in a replacement or the only option is to bin it? :disappointed:

Mine arrived a few minutes ago too. Was posted through the letterbox with normal postie.

I did the totally free postage (so no extra costs) so it came internationally as expected.

Country of origin was China with the postal hub address of Malaysia. The customs declaration stated the item had a value of 10.45 US Dollars (which will be under £10?) so no extras to pay.

Not charged up yet but looks great. All instructions in chinese (as expected) but no doubt plenty of english instructions online.

Finally turned up this morning but not had chance to test it yet as 0% battery life in it out of the full Chinese box, no English on the instructions at all, should be fairly straight forward tho or there will be English translations of the instructions online... Excited tho

I ordered 2 a few days after each other, and one arrived yesterday. I ordered via UK priority mail as reading up on gearbest they appear to have a Manchester depot, so I think they must ship in bulk to there then ship within the UK, hence why I think I have had no duty charges. (only guessing there) so that literally took a little over a week from China. Not bad at all:) thanks again OP

Thanks for replying. I think I'll save some money and not bother getting one. Maybe in the future a version will become available which will have improved monitoring capabilities.
whispergold
19 Mar 17 #114
That's correct, it will not monitor sleep outside of a certain time. I have a typical sleep pattern so this was never much of an issue for me but it did mean that it never tracked naps during the day. While we're talking sleep tracking It also tries to log "deep sleep" patterns, there seems to be literally no science behind this function. Be aware that when they say deep sleep this has no correlation to the scientific definition of deep sleep, it's just periods of low movement. It would have been more accurate to just show you the data where you were restless or awake.

Can only speak from experience but you're more likely to get stung if you ask for insurance as it requires scrutiny. If you get free p&p there's nothing to check technically so your parcel goes through more quickly. But you face the long wait and hope it doesn't get lost. I'm not saying not paying insurance gets no charges, it's all luck but you have less chance of being stung without insurance than with.

My problem at the moment is I bought something from Gearbest and their customer service is sadly lacking.

I have bought 2 of these watches and they're great but when something goes wrong the door slams in your face.

How good are these at monitoring sleep?

I read a review from a shift worker saying it does not monitor sleep within certain hours of the day to save battery drain. Is this still the case or has been fixed via an update?

Quite a flaw if you travel a lot or do shift work and the device refuses to monitor your sleep pattern as it is having a rest.

I got this last time for about £21, it took a whole month to arrive, I didn't get charged for any duty, the battery on it is great, as a few have mentioned the supposed calorie counter is terrible, if you take your mobile everywhere then just use that instead of wasting £16-20 on this unless you have another use of it that I'm missing?
Macca-J
17 Mar 17 #108
Anyone got any idea about the duty on imports and how to avoid being stung ? ?

I went for priority line deliver, which is Uk mail or something, I have read on the other forum that some people are getting hit with a £18 import duty charge WFT !!!!!!

spent £90 on a Fitbit Charge 2 - its another world.

NEVER stops monitoring, unlike this one that does it at intervals and records my workout as 90 calories.... yet, on the fitbit and the MIO its 400 cals.

Support, is a joke. Told me to un-sync with my old phone... that I had lost.... until then it wouldnt work ever again....Great support. Google it - people having LOADS of problems with these cheap pieces of crud.

Thanks. I liked my fitbit flex but two packed up after 3 months each. Although fitbit's support is great and they send replacements, for me it's worth checking the competition at this price to see if it lasts longer! Middle-age spread is kicking in and an activity tracker helps you notice how many days are "below average" in terms of activity and do something positive to get you back on track. It's cheaper than having to replace your trousers with a larger waist size!

Can anyone recommend where to purchase different colour straps ? Got the Mrs one also so looking for maybe a more colourful TPU strap ?
bemad
16 Mar 17 #101
For a fitness tracker that isn't worn on the wrist I would try one of these - can be used with a clip or a band - which also gives you a way of trying things out very cheaply. I got this "rose" coloured one for £9.99 brand new. The display is all blinking lights which might not please everyone but get it matched to your phone and it motivates you to walk more and monitor your activity.

VERY light and unobtrusive and the lack of display means no recharging as the standard battery lasts for months.

Keep an eye on the price and grab if it comes back at £9.99!

This is a fitness band that is meant to be worn at all times, as it monitors your steps throughout the day and sleep patterns at night, it's also a watch.

It depends what you would want it for, my smart watch is on me as much as possible to check steps, sleep, calories burnt etc.

I've ordered 2 from Gearbest before the last time this was up (or was it the time before that I forgot) - both arrived in 1 package in about 11-12 days using Yodel without any customs charges. I assume its pot luck but I think a single one should be fine really. With Gearbest its probably best to just order it and forget about it until it arrives - I was dubious about my first purchase with them but actually impressed with these bands - so just ordered another one for the mother in law as shes into her fitness/walks etc.

I'm totally confused about how/where you might get charged VAT or any other customs duties.

I went with the free option of airmail unregistered because I had heard paying for courier delivery is where the problems of extra charging came in.

Or is it more to do with the "value" of the order (and is that in UK pounds or Dollars)?

All very confusing and almost put me off ordering.

Use UK priority line its £1.38 more but it's worth it, 0 chance of added VAT and quicker delivery. I find it delivers in as quick as 8 working days and no slower than 14 and it's Yodel that handles the shipping within the UK.

I've used my version 1 for over two years now and I've had three different phones? it wouldn't sync with my latest phone when i first bought it, but i restarted the phone and it's been fine ever since! the only problems i had with the app was that my Bluetooth stopped working on my phone, so i cant blame the all for that.

I can understand your frustrated if you haven't managed to get this to work properly but almost everything you've said isn't actually correct.

The Mi band 2 is pretty much universally recommended as the best budget fitness tracker out there.

Absolutely brilliant deal.
