I bought one from Gearbest last October, and have bought 3 more for the family since then! I think they are great value, giving an accurate step count and with a choice of what else it displays, The instructions left a bit to be desired but a quick google sorted that. Voted hot

Just got one for the girlfriend from gearbest, well impressed for the money. Wish I had bpm on my pebble time. Really good entry for an activity tracker, paid a bit more for the international version, but instructions are still in Chinese.

Nothing wrong with Gearbest. I bought one of these in December, from Gearbest, with no problems what-so-ever, as have others, as stated above.

Came Thursday... nice bit of kit. Haven't used any other apps yet. Had to add permissions and turn on " Don't notify about unknown numbers" for both the call and SMS notifications to work. Heart rate sensor is very accurate, and it's comfy. The sleep function seems to work well, however linking to Google fit it has recorded a few anomalies; logged a short drive as a run etc. Apart from that very happy. Steps are accurate.

My band arrived yesterday but seems to be faulty. Counting steps while I am sitting. I have nearly done 20k around the house today (It must have assumed I live in a mansion!!). Is there a way I can get around with this!? Will gearbest agree to send in a replacement or the only option is to bin it? :disappointed:

Has anyone tried the u8 smart watch that is also on gb? Just wondered how comparable it is to the mi band 2.

Mainly want it for the sleep tracker, alarm (a stop watch would be nice). And I suppose seeing messages would be cool.

Mainly asking as this is a really tiny watch but this looks a lot better on the wrist (from pictures), I only want some cheap and cheerful

yes, my one did the exact same thing. the step tracking and HR count still works, but it just wouldn't connect to my phone any longer.

i even tried with multiple phones and left it until its battery ran out and it turned off (as there is no physical way at all to turn these off and on.

sadly, it still doesn't work. I'm currently trying to get it replaced under warranty as I've tried everything possible to get it working again.

I've bought two of these so far for me and my eldest, and both are great - small, lightweight, accurate enough (not perfect, but consistent, so its fine for tracking activity trend), superb battery life, shower proof etc etc . They're so good my youngest daughter wants one now, and I'd be happy to buy one for her, but the strap won't go small enough for her wrist.

Anyone know of replacement straps that are a bit smaller than the manufacturer one? I've looked on ebay / amazon and gearbest but they all look like they're the same size. I've got one of the metal ones with adjustable straps, but unfortunately they make the watch holder part quite big, and look ridiculous on her wrist. Any tips would be appreciated.

I bought this for the heart rate monitor feature and I'm sorry to say it's rubbish. Not at all accurate sadly.

Also the rubber wrist strap gave me a nasty rash one day which is always concerning!

Aside from that, time display was good, step counting was good and held it charge for much longer than my old FitBit.
Froddo_Baggins
14 Mar 17 #165
I have just bought one of these from Geekbuying, it was £21 so a bit more but I bought the International version (no idea what the difference is apart from it being a couple of quid more)
It took about 3 weeks to get here but I am very happy with it.
I previously had a Moto360 sport and also a Sony smartwatch and I have to say this is miles better for what I want it for.
The biggest plus is battery life, I have had it on a week now and it is at 74% and that's with a lot of fiddling. The simplicity is its real strength in that I just want to see steps, sleep, alarms, time and notifications and all this just worked out of the box, no additional software was needed and it took about 10 minutes to setup.

I have bought another one since for my dad and might start investing in some of these nicer looking straps as I cant see myself taking it off that often.

100% recommend, get one!

edit: scrap that, now back to £16.75

also, there is no "international" version. I have bought 3 of these. The 1st I bought was described as international version but it's absolutely identical to the other 2.

This is best used with the Notify & Fitness for Mi Band App on the Play Store.

I bought one of these at Christmas and was delivered within 2 weeks. I love it. It's really comfortable on, brilliant battery life which I've only briefly charged up once since Christmas. Accurate step tracker and the MI fit app quickly connects with Bluetooth to log the steps and sleep pattern. Really handy to monitor your steps on the daily, weekly or monthly history chart. I use IOS and works perfectly every time. Also has a heart rate monitor. For £18 I'd recommend this over a £70+ Fitbit. Does what it's expected to do plus I use the alarm schedule on mine which is great and vibrates to wake me up - tap the band to snooze and wait for my next alarm

I have connection issues but it's normally only a problem when the band needs updating because it connects eventually and then updates the data to the phone.

There was an band update last week and this worked for me:

'Force stop the “'Bluetooth Share process” by going into Settings>Apps>Under Running Apps.
Clear any Data that is cached in the process.
Go to your BlueTooth settings and select the Mi band and tap “Forget Device“
Re-open Mi Fit App and pair the device from the beginning.'

Thanks just ordered another one following me managing to lose it because I was a little too aggressive taking it out for a charge. It became loose so I ordered a new strap but managed to lose it before it arrived!

Moral of the story, be gentle when you take it out for a charge. The slot has another piece of gentle plastic which reinforces the housing. But if that separates, you won't get a tight fit.

I bought one a few months ago and the original mi band 2 strap is flimsy and flexible.
The mi band fell out of the strap a couple of times.
I bought the camouflage straps , also off gearbest , which are less flexible and hold the mi band securely, no more falling out.
The other problem I came across was that as the strap is held on by a plastic stud going through the strap and held on by nothing else , it managed to undo itself and I lost the whole thing.
I bought another and now secure the strap with the stud, plus two o rings slid over the strap.
When I tried to connect the new mi band to the mi fit app , it said was paired but couldn't connect.
It was thinking the new band was the old one so I had to delete any info of the old band , ie unpair etc etc, now ok.
Good value for money , get one.

Had mine for 4 weeks. I wear it all the time including in the shower with several notifications per day vibrating through. The battery lasts about 2-3 weeks easily! Mine was delivered in about 3 weeks with tracking and insurance paid for.

My only problem with the Mi Band 2 is that the screen is not very bright outside and the screen can be difficult to read on a sunny day - this apparently cannot be adjusted. I contacted GearBest who apologised and offered 200 points when I asked if this was enough to purchase another Mi Band2 they said thank you and put the points on my account totalling about 5 dollars which isn't obviously enough for a replacement so I'm just gonna accept it won't work in bright conditions.

I got 5 Mi band. You can add caller ID with this band, download mi band app then change your phone language to simplified Chinese, then open your Mi band app, it should promote firmware update, let it update then keeping Chinese language go to setting of mi band ( Middle button, then more, then incoming calls and incoming SMS and then turn every alert on) turn every alert on and then change your phone language back to English. This will enable you to get caller ID on your Mi band.

phil001
11 Mar 17 #47
Are these step counter / modern pedometers really that accurate?
I can't see how they can be when they are on you wrist, surely scratching your nose might count as a step?!
I guess they are good for improving fitness, ie trying to beat your step count from previous day's etc.
But when they are then used to calculate calories burned then I really can't see them being accurate.

Happy to be corrected, just interested in people's opinions!

For this price though it's worth it for the heart rate monitor and alarm/clock alone
shakerstevens to phil001
11 Mar 17 #52
I have one of these watches and whilst I can't say its 100% accurate no it does not count a step when scratching your nose/waving your hands in the air, rolling round in bed etc. No idea how it defines a step different to other actions but it does!
azza452
11 Mar 17 #48
if you wear this for running do you also need to take your smartphone with you aswell or can it sync data when you get home ? Thats one problem ive had while distance tracking, its not ideal carrying around a phone
shakerstevens to azza452
11 Mar 17 #51
Yes you can sync data when you get home to your phone. It doesn't have built in GPS so you can't sync your route but you can sync the total number of steps/distance you have covered, although that would be the days total, not specific to the run (unless of course you only wear it when you go for a run!).
shakerstevens
11 Mar 17 #50
Hot hot hot. Got one 3 months ago for a similar price and was waiting for a similar deal to come up so I can buy another as a gift.
Brillaint watch/fitness device. I have an iphone and it works perfectly together. Caller ID for phone calls, caller ID for incoming text (doesn't show the text but you know who its coming from and if its worth checking your phone or not). you can also set alerts for incoming facebook, whatsapp, snapchat, instgram etc, although I turned these off as I was getting so many alerts! Phone and text alerts enough for me and it saves battery life).
App you get with the phone syncs your data from the watch into the app and also into Apple Health (although seems to import steps into Apple Health but not distance walked/ran etc).
Fantastic battery life, lasts 2-3 weeks, longer if you don't have the HR monitor on all the time. And because its water proof its never off my arm, fine for in the shower, swimming etc (although I wouldn't want to go diving with it!).
Great device, and puts other £100+ fitness trackers to shame, some of which don't even give you call/text alerts from your phone.

I ordered one of these from Light In the Box and when it arrived customs had added a £18 charge. I refused delivery, but am not really sure where I stand now. Poksd to sherific
11 Mar 17 1 #43
Yes, this happened to me too. I refused delivery, then contacted customer services about it- basically just saying how it was ridiculous that they didn't make the possibility of these charges clearer to customers and how I couldn't be the first person to receive these unexpected charges etc etc. Anyway, they responded at first saying that I should have gotten the package insurance they offer (was about £10 if I remember correctly). So I moaned some more. They then offered 50% tax compensation for the charges, before I then realised that it was useless since it was a 50% discount at their site. Eventually, I rescheduled delivery making sure to get evidence of the tax charges (the band arrived as described), and then went through paypal to get a refund and they paid the £18 with no questions asked. I didn't even need to show my tax invoice in the end, but what a load of hassle. To those considering buying the mi band (and the like) I would recommend going through amazon prime. It's only a few pounds more and you'll get it much more easily and quickly than from these sketchy Chinese companies

If your not prepared to wait ages if things go wrong look elsewhere. In their favour communication has been excellent.

Yes, mine had a real hissy fit after about a week or so. I seem to remember I had to pair it to a different phone, then unpaired it, then paired it to my normal phone. It's the unpair stage that is needed, but if it won't connect in the first place then it's not possible.

As you both have bands and phones, perhaps pair to each others? Oh, and don't have the bands in close proximity when you do it, that will cause issues as well.

I've had one for a couple of months and it has been really good. I got this strap http://www.gearbest.com/smartwatch-accessories/pp_392110.html which has nice soft leather, and a metal frame for the watch. The battery life on the watch is great - it lasts for weeks, and then charges back up again from a USB lead within a couple of hours.
I use the Android app and track my step count, weight and sleep. It also connects to Google Fit, although the step count is not the same in both apps.

Brilliant device. Bought 3 for family. Better design than Fitbit HR, as after 20months, the case on mine split allowing moisture in. As the electronics on the xiaomi are a little water resistant pod that pops in to the strap, should be more durable.
Fitbit battery life 4 days, xiaomi 4 weeks!
Bought a metal case with brown leather strap for nights out.
Buy! You won't regret.

Not sure on the Customer Service side of things, but got two of these (1 for the missus) and they work great. Lots of features, great battery life too as I charge once a month.

I ordered one of these in January, still waiting for delivery, they told me they had sent another one out to me tracked via Royal Mail, this was nearly two weeks ago it's still not got into the country yet according to tracking, not the greatest when it comes to customer service excuse after excuse

Had one 8 weeks. It's been charged 3 times only and it's still on 36%. Terrific value. No connectivity issues with iOS for me.

Nothing wrong with Gearbest. I bought one of these in December, from Gearbest, with no problems what-so-ever, as have others, as stated above.

I and my daughter got one of these each three months or so ago. Both now won't connect to our phones.Funny how they both stopped connecting at around the same age Tried reinstalling mi fit, rebooting etc more than once to no avail. Anyone had the same problem?

Agree with this. Strap is soft rubber and not very wide. Wear mine day and night without discomfort or any issues.

Mi band tools app £2 is a must have if you buy this.... Adds caller id. Shows messages and other features.

Got one and I find it great to wear. The bands are comfy but you can also get different leather or metal ones cheap enough on the site.

I know the answer to this question will be very subjective but I just wanted to hear peoples opinions on how this feels to wear? I had one of the Microsoft Bands and I really couldn't get on with wearing it as it just felt so ridged.

I recently tried a mates fit bit (not sure which one it was) and it felt a lot better than the MS band as it had a plastic strap and was a lot more comfortable. I'll probably try one of these at this price but any input on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. I now have an android phone (Xiaomi Mi5) so I'm looking for a compatible device, hence my interest in this.

I bought one from Gearbest last October, and have bought 3 more for the family since then! I think they are great value, giving an accurate step count and with a choice of what else it displays, The instructions left a bit to be desired but a quick google sorted that. Voted hot
