Grab yourself a preowned copy of No Man's Sky on PS4 for 10.16. Heard it's a lot better than it was with the recent updates.

If this had been a tenner on release and Sean hadn't lied about the content, everyone would have loved it.
As it is, sour taste all round.

More fool you. If you'd have been more savvy you would have taken a pragmatic approach to the reception of the game and waited, like I did. I paid less than a tenner for the PS4 version just after the Foundation update came out. Thoroughly enjoyed my 20+ hours of the game, money well spent.
It wasn't the second coming of Christ. But then I wasn't one of those who expected it to be.

You know, we need to stop f-ing around with this game. Yes, it's set the standards of when something is promised and doesn't deliver the goods that it was claimed to.
But,
If you like this sort of genre, something to chill too, explore and relax with, the game is great. Not good, but great. Sean Murray didn't deliver and he deserves the flack he got for that. But if you like this sort of slow paced, exploration, grind, then go for it. I paid £45 on release. I was pi##ed that Murray didn't deliver what he claimed, but that didn't stop my enjoyment of what I'd played. If you have played it and don't like it, that's fine. If you've played it and like it, that's fine. But let's not blast it just because it wasn't what was promised.
Hot from me OP.
Maybe worth trying with the latest update from a day or 2 ago, here's some of the details along with the link to the full details:
INTRODUCING PATH FINDER (UPDATE 1.2)
The Path Finder update introduces planetary vehicles, base sharing, PS4 Pro support, ship/weapon specialisation, permadeath mode, and much more. It shows the path for the future.
You heard wrong. Game is and always will be, utter trash.

The game may not be everything they claimed, or inadvertently promised, the game itself is well worth a tenner. I've played about 10 hours or more of it. It's a decent enough game for chilling out, having a beer, and just aimlessly collecting, wandering around the universe.
The pathfinder update really improved the visuals. Haven't delved into it much other than noticing that major change.

This game is easily worth a tenner of anyones money. Updates have made a big difference. This in a way reminds me of when Driveclub was released and everyone slated it for the first few months because they set their expectations too high. It's a very small development company and they should be congratulated for trying something different.

The game fell far short of its mark on release, but the Foundation and Pathfinder updates have given it a new lease of life and far more depth. Visuals have also been greatly improved. If you like the idea of Minecraft in space, or of a relaxed exploration experience then this could be for you. Heated.

As stated above the updates have made this into a game more than worth the admission price and it will continue to grow.
Give it another chance if not played since release as it feels very much now like they were pressured into the release by Sony, over time more of the creativity and ideas are coming into the game.

10 quid was my biting point on this so a few pence doesn't hurt. If I get more than 2 hours entertainment out of it then can't grumble for a tenner. Cost of a couple of large coffees. Oh I went the Amazon route though but heat from me anyway.

Hot. Show me another game you can do what you can in NMS.
It sure has it's annoying bits, but so do all games and from what I've read of the new update, they've fixed alot of ones I'm annoyed by and they seem to be listening to players.
I never played it as the original game, but looking back what it must have been like, it must have been so frustrating. Glad my experience wasn't clouded by that.
If you can, time to give it another go people.

Get something like Subnautica instead, you'll have a similar, but better experience and support a dev that is trying to be positively involved with its community and not lie to it. It's £15, but drops lower than this on sale every so often.

I didn't know you could land on planets and drive around, mine, etc and fly off to other planets and systems in those games.
NMS doesn't have the same depth in combat as the games you mentioned but surely nothing can beat it for planet generation and exploration.

Yeah, I enjoyed it at launch too (on PC)... Got it in the recent PSN sale seeing as it now has Pro support so will jump back into it soon.
It might not be everything they hyped it up to be and they really **** up the launch price, but it's still a decent game to zone out with for a few hours and play with a few beers/your drug of choice.
For a tenner it's well worth a look

Look up games like Space Engineers and Astroneers. They already beat NMS on exploration and planet exploring. Elite dangerous is THE go to space game in this era and to this date, nothing is coming close to it until Star Citizen comes out.
