Been looking for a good way to get both Snipperclips and a pair of additional Joy-Cons, but haven't seen much talk about it on hukd, there are only cold threads for ShopTo at £85 and Amazon at £80, but no alternatives. Nintendo's UK store is selling it at £80 too.
The cheapest price for Joy-Con pair on its own (either colour) appears to be £70, and meanwhile Snipperclips has settled in with aggregate score 80 on Opencritic and 81 on Metacritic.
Snipperclips' digital price is £18, but it's seen some heat in threads like CDKeys taking it as low as £15.19. I would have bought it at that price too if I couldn't find a good bundle price, but I'd say this is pretty good and have ordered it myself before posting. Ordered at 16:30 and it was dispatched at 17:10.
Hope you guys are enjoying your new consoles as much as I am. Long live Multiplayer!

Why the hell is so expensive?? I'll stick with my pair of joycons and wait for a price drop. Not like anything apart from Zelda or MARIO at the moment

Thanks for the replies. I wanted the Zelda soft case for ages, but after reading a lot about its apparently low quality standards and cardboard insides I was a little put off. Somehow after that I stumbled upon Waterfield's newly designed option. I thought to myself, I haven't seen any local options that don't disappoint me in multiple ways (and I spent ages looking), so I thought why compromise on something that's going to be contain over £300 of tech?
And I'm going to get a good few years out of this if the amount I transported the Wii U is anything to go by. It's expensive but I found a phone case I liked from them too (and I'd been searching for that for ages also) which was very cheap, so it justified paying for the shipping charges once. I have zero affiliation with them but for those interested

You will find that internet speed is not actually the problem here, you could be playing with 1Mb/s and still many online games would work fine. Anything over 5 or 10 means your problem is elsewhere. The usual problem these days is latency so either you should reconsider your ISP or you need to revise your setup (especially since most Wii U users connect wirelessly). Either way... you're barking up the wrong tree.

You're pushing this off the back of a single franchise without realizing people's taste.
Haven't liked a Zelda game since the Snes.
We have Splatoon, SSB and MK8, I can't even remember the last time the Wii U gamepad was charged.
As for Splatoon on the go, we have 38mb up n 2mb down, still get lag -and that's why I don't play it.
Do you really believe you'll be able to play a game so heavily reliant on internet speed anywhere?
Love the game but lag takes the fun out of it.
Back OT: voted cold, it's a pad that halves for less control.

The point is you don't need to stream to play amazing games like Zelda that a Vita could not even hope to run. And you can take Switch out with you and play it anywhere in the car. On holiday but vita needs to be in range of a very high speed wifi connection at all times to stream without horrible lag! Wait until you have a switch in your hands and play Zelda a couple of hours you will realise this thing has potential that's off the scale! It's the most powerful handheald console ever!

That case could be the "Hori Switch Tough Pouch". I got the £30 accessory kit from argos today (it seems to be available in 3 colour schemes - "Mario Icons" and "Mario M" (both with red bits, the later exclusive to Game) and "Zelda Link's Tunic" (blue))... Anyway, the case is really nice - most importantly it has a seperate flap in the middle that holds the game carts, facing away from the console. I liked how sleek that Hori case and others like it look, but didn't fancy cart edges potentially rubbing against the screen on the move.
In other news, Sainsburys North Cheam looked like it had 2 consoles (grey) in stock when I was there a couple of hours ago. I also got Zelda from the Argos in that store, but no idea if they had any more.

Fantastic deal for whats included (2x £42 controllers and an £18 game)
my opinion would be that unless you need the extra joy cons (4 player MK for example), you'd probably be better off buying a pro controller and the game from cdkeys for only a few pence more. The pro controller is more comfortable and can be charged without docking or another accessory. As I dont need more than 2 controllers currently I bought the joy con charging grip

mike_6480
11 Mar 17#93
I think you are missing theach point. Is zelda even 2 player so why would you need to buy an extra controller?
Mario kart on the other hand this will mean you can play 4 player with the original joy cons as well. I expect the same for something like super smash bros.
That's why you can buy the joy cons individually and why the grip is separate. This is 2 controllers it's just that you can join them together to form a different controller

I can take my joycons out of the room and they still work, my console works fine for the most part, its intresting to me because they clearly have faulty units, also I have no idea how you would scratch it putting it into the dock even if I rub mine up and down the dock it doesn't scratch it (thats not to say it doesn't scratch easy but its a bit weird they must have jammed their screen right in there). I'm not like a gushing fanboy but I think a pinch of salt needs to be taken with that video, remember was it the DS scratched the screen when you closed it or the Xbox RedRing. I even remember PS4 videos that were like this, or even the iphone with its blocking the signal and you have to hold it in a specific way. The most important thing is that these are defective units and not working properly. If my switch had any of those issues I'd be getting my money back.

Mine arrived today (I ordered on Wednesday), the controller box is small but it was sent in a much larger box with air cushions. That's good for reassurance of course, but it's never getting through any letterboxes and I was here to sign for it. There may be tracking available as I got email confirmation that it was delivered just now.
The controllers are a brighter colour than I expected (so that's why they call it neon), and the box includes two standard black Joy-Con Wrist Straps. Make sure when you're putting them on to match the + with the + and the - with the -, like batteries.
The Snipperclips code comes in a scratch card like the old Club Nintendo codes, and it was downloaded within 5 minutes on my wireless connection.
By the way, for those that enjoy the look of this game (or Mario) Nintendo have just released some My Nintendo wallpapers. You get more than 50 silver coins for connecting to eShop and Miiverse once a week, so it's not dear. https://my.nintendo.com/reward_categories/media

And so they should. The reason we have teething issues is because people take it. Also microsoft and sony are not immune to criticism. People took the mick out of the rrod, people argued about sony getting hacked, people have lots of issues against microsoft, people complained that the ps pro was a pointless upgrade. Nintendo are now in the spotlight, so if they're going to have issues, people are going to call them out for it.
So unless you want nintendo to become the new sega where they constantly release flawed consoles, I suggest you accept that people are going to give feedback on how the console could have been better. Obviously people will have different opinions, but right now it's fanboys and zelda die hards getting the switch. Once that's over with, then sales will probably drop unless they do something more. After all there's really no incentive to get a switch over a Wii U which has BotW and the next big upcoming game is mario kart 8 which is already on the Wii U and you won't need to pay for an online sub for that. Nintendo have made a lot of money earned for previous successes, but it does seem like more people turn away from them and they're becoming more niche.

Why can't Nintendo just make games? If you took the Wii and handhelds away it's been declining console sales since the NES. The last console Nintendo I was truly excited for was the SNES, skipped the N64 until it was cheap and the only reason I bought a Gamecube was Star Wars and Resident Evil remake.
Japanese gaming companies used to be able call the shots but that was about 20 years ago and counting now. Look how stubborn some of the companies are, PD for example. Every iteration Gran Turismo has the same failings, like **** sound and annoying licence tests - do they listen, no. Seems to be a case of we know best and you will like it how it's served to you.

The price on the switch will go down, it seems that they chose to make a device they could sell cheap based on the specs and that apparently it's basically a nvidia shield or whatever.
As for the controllers they are expensive too but it's because the hardcore fanbase are going to spend that much. After they have theirs, the price may come down unless Nintendo plan on holding kids who lose their controllers ransom. It is also two wii controllers with nfc and infra distance sensing built in. I don't think they will drop below £60 for many years if ever.

blimey. what a response! I just think the switch is a bit gimmicky really. I just think Nintendo should have gone one way or the other. handheld or console. I read that Zelda will last 3 hours when it's played in its handheld form which for a handheld isn't long.plus Nintendo's attitudes towards dead pixels and joycon issues is awful. great way to treat your loyal fans. Atleast Microsoft admitted faults with the 360 and repaired or replaced your console free of charge once even if it was out warranty. and let's face the 3rd party support I believe will be very small as big publishers like EA activision etc won't make switch versions of their call of dutys, assassins creeds, FIFA when they can already port 2 versions of their games on 2 consoles that are have a much wider user base than the switch will ever have. I wanted Nintendo to make a real next gen console that could compete with Microsoft and sony. but I doubt we ever will ever see that. and as for breath of fire why spend a fortune on a slightly better version when I can buy it for 40 quid on the Wii u?

I was going to link to the very same video. Zelda being the greatest RPG is down to the player. I've never been able to get into any of the Zelda games and believe me i've tried but each to their own i guess. The hardware looks badly put together and if you're rushing to buy at the highest price it'll be (at release) for the one game then that's crazy!! but again, each to their own, i guess!?
I read somewhere that they've pulled the dock from sale on its own from stores as there has now been too many reports of scratched screens in the US. The final straw is Nintendo on their own support website saying that dead pixels on the devices is perfectly normal. I think at that price point its unacceptable.
PrinceRules64
9 Mar 172#48
I didn't think I would have to fact check alternative truths in the real world, but no, of course it wasn't £20. The evidence I've found puts it at launch between £33 and £40 (presumably the RRP), but it often sold out and some people were willing to pay at least this much (see the third link). Best preorder High Street Availability (in stock) Last Resort posters / better than eBay
Now if we assume a lower bound of £30 going by some unverified retailers which didn't get a thread here on hotukdeals, that puts the price roughly £38-50 in today's money by the Bank of England's calculator for one controller and a game which is surely not as good (you are talking about this game remember).
As for the 'two halves' debate.. each Joy-Con has its own circuit board, broadcom chip, and battery. It's not like they make one controller and do a King Solomon on it, they made two controllers with layout similar to SNES and made a system that can swap between configurations - just like Wii and Wii U with remote, wheel, nunchuk. As an aside, when comparing this to the Wii Remote it's easy to forget that the Remote didn't include any rechargeable batteries.
Pjcity
9 Mar 17#47
it doesn't matter about having the best games if people "don't get it" and buy the thing on mass the console will fail.... I hope Nintendo don't end up a games maker like Sega (albeit 100 times better) but at this rate it seems like its only a matter of time......

Can you play a game like Zelda on just one of these halves then? or does it have to be specific games built without the need of a 3d rotating environment? You could comfortably buy 2 PS4 controllers for less than this so i don't see that as a valid argument.
Edit... and you could buy one of the games less than £3 in the sale on the store... Hotline Miami 2 for instance for £2.49 and keep the change :-)
MungoSplodge
9 Mar 17#43
If it was £20 10 years ago that's only approx £23.37 in today's money and £30 turns into £35... so this is quite expensive given that its just 1 controller and a game that if it was released as a PS+ freebie then people would moan about it.
To put it another way, would anyone have paid £64 quid for an old Wii controller with a game back when that was out?

Standard pricing compared to Wii controllers at launch and the current price of ps move controllers. Minus the price of the game it is £60 for two controllers. I don't think that is too bad for a brand new release. They will drop a bit, but demand will keep the price up, plus that Nintendo tax.
Pokemon Go had revenue over $1b and sun and moon sold fantastically well. Yes, the user base of Go has declined, but that is standard for the market and not specific just to Pokemon Go.

They failed

Do Amazon price match Smyth's? As have £30 credit on Amazon due to them messing up my Switch order...

You're a cannier buyer than me! £280 + £48 for Zelda. Which I think for a new game (and what a game!) was probably just about worth it. By no means a bargain though. But development wise, Lego and MK8 are just ports. I've already played them on the WiiU, so £45 and £42 (Amazon) is pretty steep. Would have thought £25-£35 is about what they're worth.

Depends how you play the game..
I got the Console and Pro Controller from Tesco for £335.00 which is the console for £279.99 + £55.00 for a pro controller..
Then I got Zelda for £34.00 from Amazon using a code adn pre-ordering at the right time. I have MK8 preordered for £32.00 at Amazon and Lego City for £34.99 at Base.. Anything i cannot get at a reasonable price is what i wait for.

Do two sets of joycons for one switch device work for two player on the go? Or four player with one Joycon each?

Both, I think. Depends what you're playing.

Nice one  I hope this gets the heat it deserves on the basis of the pricing for the individual items.
Opening post

Ping of 20-28ms on Rocket League.
Time will tell, there's a demo run of Spla2n soon; I already know the headlines...
In other news, Sainsburys North Cheam looked like it had 2 consoles (grey) in stock when I was there a couple of hours ago. I also got Zelda from the Argos in that store, but no idea if they had any more.
Those Zelda ones in Argos are nice! £14.99:)
It's a nifty feature that frees up the tv.
Can be done in a number of ways.
We currently use a laptop for his XB1.
Think you can stream the PS4 to the vita; will know more closer to Christmas.
You could have said '£75.... You can buy 3 aardvarks and a ham salad sandwich for that.'
my opinion would be that unless you need the extra joy cons (4 player MK for example), you'd probably be better off buying a pro controller and the game from cdkeys for only a few pence more. The pro controller is more comfortable and can be charged without docking or another accessory. As I dont need more than 2 controllers currently I bought the joy con charging grip
Heat for the deal though
Mario kart on the other hand this will mean you can play 4 player with the original joy cons as well. I expect the same for something like super smash bros.
That's why you can buy the joy cons individually and why the grip is separate. This is 2 controllers it's just that you can join them together to form a different controller
You get more than 50 silver coins for connecting to eShop and Miiverse once a week, so it's not dear. https://my.nintendo.com/reward_categories/media
as well as the sports games for xbox/ps4, what about the racing games, the fighting games? (street fighter?) the co-op games?
Apart from sports games there are very few xbox one or PS4 games that do local multiplayer
P.s. where TF is the NES Classic mini stock? Nintendo pls
You lot are arguing as if we can only game on one console. This isn't the 90s.
EDIT: good deal. I missed out in the neon coloured switch. These standalones all seem to be the alternate neon. Wondering if there's a way to get the original.
Goodbye
Now runalong and go and play the very average Horizon Zero Dawn.
I doubt you would say that if you had one
Just kidding, those things are ridiculously overpriced. This is a decent saving though, voted hot.
I bought multiple Wii Play remotes and copies of the games for £20 as I had multiple Wii's back in the day and would often set up competitions, so I had a bundle of Wii Play copies cause they came with the controller.
I read somewhere that they've pulled the dock from sale on its own from stores as there has now been too many reports of scratched screens in the US. The final straw is Nintendo on their own support website saying that dead pixels on the devices is perfectly normal. I think at that price point its unacceptable.
Best preorder
High Street Availability (in stock)
Last Resort posters / better than eBay
Now if we assume a lower bound of £30 going by some unverified retailers which didn't get a thread here on hotukdeals, that puts the price roughly £38-50 in today's money by the Bank of England's calculator for one controller and a game which is surely not as good (you are talking about this game remember).
Here is the Bank's calculator to check it yourself
Here is the Office of National Statistics' data in interactive graph format
Here is the same data for those that prefer tables
I would add to that the fact that most people hasten to forget that the pound is down around 40 percent against the dollar compared to what it was in '07 - and of course as usual don't take my word for it, check the source or your own site of choice.
Edit... and you could buy one of the games less than £3 in the sale on the store... Hotline Miami 2 for instance for £2.49 and keep the change :-)
To put it another way, would anyone have paid £64 quid for an old Wii controller with a game back when that was out?
How much is it for 2 xbox one or ps4 controllers and a game? Although to be honest you don't need many controllers for xbox one or ps4 due to lack of local multiplayer with most games
It's either a Switch for the kid's Christmas or a PS4 pro... and you can guess which console I'm pushing for more.
"Look son, big robot dinosaur thingies!"
F*** Nintendo.
Its a smart move by nintendo releasing zelda on launch to get the hype/sales in. Now they can concentrate on releasing games like "nintendo dogs" or "nintendo cooking" or "michael owen soccer"
And people still saying it will fail?
...
2. It's a pile of poorly built garbage with countless issues hardware/software issues
3. Unless Nintendo fix these rather huge problems, it could fail, but never underestimate how ideologically blind consumers/fanboys can be.
4. Fanboyism is cringey, just stop.
What's your opinion on this video highlighting problems with the Switch?

Looks pretty bad to me.
Pokemon Go had revenue over $1b and sun and moon sold fantastically well. Yes, the user base of Go has declined, but that is standard for the market and not specific just to Pokemon Go.
However, I will concede it's being milked for all it's worth at the moment. Everything is costing 150% of what it should be. Price you pay for early adoption I guess.
However for those looking for the free home delivery they're dispatching already and it'll get to you after then anyway. You can get speedier delivery for release day if you choose to pay a little more for it.
this is less than twice that for two controllers and a game so this is comparative at least.
I don't think inflation is that high.
They failed
