It came as a notification on my phone. I suspect they are rolling it out in stages. Seems fine so far, everything I've tried works. Also updated the Android security patch. All good. Over a GB of space needed though but not a problem with 64GB on board.

Got the nougat update yesterday. Seems quicker, if anything. Certainly the Antutu score has increased.

The phone comes with the India rom zui 2-0-093 in about phone under settings, it will get the nougat update just leave it yeah don't touch anything

Any idea what a local phone shop should charge for flashing the official Indian ROM on this? I don't wish to get ripped off and I'm loathe to attempt it myself. TIA!

​its not a stock rom. you won't get OTA updates without flashing the stock rom

so had a go with it tonight. I appear to have the indian rom.

My main gripes are

1. once you peek at the notification in the pull down, the notification icon dissapears. (so you don't know if you have any notifications without pulling down again)
2. you can't pull down on the notications for options e.g reply etc.

Got mine .. looks good. Like and hate the Matt screen protector. Ordered some glass protectors and case from Banggood.

Few Q's
1) I probably won't use this for a few months (have and smart ultra 6) - any tips on what to test to see if it's all working fine now. I know to charge and see if that works.

2) how can i tell which ROM it is? Seems all in English when i set it up. Any shortcuts on how to install Indian ROM.

Factually correct but we have all been CUSTOMED..!

Value of item on package is $21.89 USD. That's roughly £17.6 GBP. 20% VAT on that is about £3.5 plus the EXTORTION sum for £8 makes it near £11.50 which is what we are paying.

Had they said value $15 USD no one would have got CUSTOMED unless unlucky. I guess the weak pound has not worked in our favour or else it would have been less than the £15 you quoted!

No the package had not been opened, it was marked as a Gift with a value of US$21.89 and labelled as an MP4 player.

They are available from UK retailers but are considerably more expensive.

I'm liking the sound of the Indian ROM being installed as I'm not very techy and was worried about having to flash it. Picking mine up tomorrow (after I've handed over the wonga for being CUSTOMED as it now seems to be known as :p)

I bought a back cover from stuff4-retail on eBay, arrived very quickly, does a good job. I bought a pair of Celicious screen protectors and the screen looks really blurry under it, unfortunately, so I probably won't keep using it. Might buy a case like the one bellboys linked but can I really wait for something else to ship from China...

Mine came with the Indian ROM installed. Works fine and I see no need to mess with it

I always use MOFI flip cases for my Chinese phones as they have a thin sheet of metal inserted in the part that covers the screen. About a fiver from China. Not the most aesthestically pleasing but well recommended.

Yes a grey slip but could collect it from the local sorting office same day as slip was delivered if u paid the £11.52 charge.

From what I gather the charge is actually from royal mail checking the goods and if they are eligible for VAT. So we haven't been CUSTOMED as the other guy seemed to try and point out as it would cost way more than £11.51 if it had import VAT added on (as well as the £8 handling charge too)

Any parcel assessed as being liable for Customs charges will also incur a Royal Mail handling fee of £8. Any goods imported into the UK over the value of £15 are liable to import VAT. Gifts between private individuals over the value of £39 are also liable for VAT.

There's quite a lot of different ways people on this topic got their products. Some had to pay customs, one at least broke, some had different ROMs, some had screen protectors etc. I'm just glad I got mine with no problems and no customs charge, but it shows it's quite a risk!

How ironic that many of us got CUSTOMED. May be got something to do with us coming out of the EU... They need as much customs money as they can get! :-)

In the next day or so you will get the slip. However you could go to your local sorting office tomorrow and pay and get it direct if you want to.

Ha ha ha.. all you guys got CUSTOMED. Here me thinking unlikely given i used normal mail. Guess what.... NO one came round but on tracking says delivered RM1. First part of my postcode. I knew instantly something not right and hey presto...I GOT CUSTOMED!! To be fair most of it is Royal Mail charge...That annoys me.

Last time i was CUSTOMED was when i orders an aeroplane. However my quads and other RC have come without any problems.

Made me think that f that guy on the thread saying we are inviting customs.... Guess he was right!

Picked mine up today with the 11.51 charge looks like most of it is a handling charge what ever that is as the package wasn't opened. So it wasn't tax related I don't think.
Just charged mine up from a ps4 and didn't get hot. Took an age tho.
Hopefully the case will come tomorrow don't feel comfortable taking it out from the stevie g stories (slippy)

Same here - first time I've been hit ever (ordered lots of stuff). Looks to me like the 8 quid is included in the 11.51 but not collected it yet. STILL an unbelievable spec for 141 spondoolics.

I've just got a card with the £11.51 charge from Royalmail and it also states there is an £8 Royalmail handling fee which I presume is on top.

I'd be waiting till it arrived if they have posted another for you at least if the 2nd doesn't work you can post them both off together, this is the dodgy thing with buying stuff from China with DOA and warranties.

Just received a letter from royal mail that I have been hit by a 11£ custom charge.

my new was posted today and I am facing to sending back the faulty one to HK. does anyone now how much we need to pay for that and which carrier I should use? /paypal paysback £15 as I read/

To be fair every review I've read on this phone has stressed you need a case due to its slippery nature.

This is a bit worrying checked on track17 and it says my parcel was delivered yesterday morning (29th) but I haven't received anything :disappointed:

Just a friendly warning for people buying these phones. I bought one several weeks ago and it slipped (it took about 10 minutes) off the top of a horizontal surface where phones and ornaments have happily sat for years on end - the back of the phone is amazingly slippery. And the screen broke.

I bought another one on the 19th of March. Delivery updated at 11:55 today to "GBLALA, Arrival at border point in the destination country". Shipping Method: Air Parcel Register

anyone else's tracking showing that the package is at the international mail centre?

sadly it is a known issue with zuk z2 and one of the chip which should control it is broken. i have no other cable however connecting to pc does the same thing
