LOL - I just randomly decided to surf google for best prices for this and noticed that there are prices from circa £206 to £278 to £550 to, um, tens of thousands. Something very dubious going on here.
Well that was a cluster... Ordered with eBuyer, was cancelled and took several days to get a refund. Ordered with Misco in the meantime, which also eventually got cancelled, but the refund was much quicker.

Perhaps, once the £50 off deal ends on March 31st, that they will offer this for £250 - it would be a good deal for £250. Would not pay anymore though. Come on Lenovo, give your UK customers a decent deal!

Such a shame I had a right pig moving the Dell t1600 to a new case needed to take all the sensors and the front panel with it but it's up and running with esxi with passthrough to tv and was cheap enough. Same here, have heard nothing but I haven't summoned up the energy to get onto them yet. They do have form in this area however - hanging on to customers' money after a pricing error or when stock has run out seems to be part of their business strategy.
Think I'll just phone to confirm it's not coming and then open a PayPal case!

I've had to chase eBuyer three times now for the cancellation and refund - it's been like pulling teeth. I'm completely forgiving of the fact that this was a pricing error on the Lenovo(/distributor) side but everything after that is on eBuyer and I really hope they implement so changes as a result. (Not happy with what will now be up to 7 days waiting for the refund, although I acknowledge that I'm very lucky to be in a position to take a punt on something like this.)

I guess eBuyer got bored of sending cancellation emails out and stopped half-way through the orders as I'm still waiting. My order has a status of 'Goods Allocated' and a delivery date by Weds 22nd, with the transaction pending on my credit card. Even though it's not their mistake, it's not the best customer service.

tek-monkey
16 Mar 171#287
Surely nobody has agreed to buy it at more than twice the price? The fact is they can't get stock at that price if lenovo won't give it them, as long as they are up front and honest I'm OK with that. What is disappointing though is that some stores pretend to have live stock systems and 24 hours after everyone else pulled the plug they haven't, for a tech firm that is out of order.
Joe_90
16 Mar 17#286
Indeed, but individuals buy from the retailer, be it Ebuyer, ServersDirect or whoever, and as far as the buyer is concerned Lenovo is nothing to do with it, automatic feed or not, especially when certain sites say they guarantee stock and prices. From a customer relations perspective they should honor the price, particularly in the case where there were confirmation emails/monies taken, then argue the toss with Lenovo over who bears the cost. Unfortunately it seems some are using it as an opportunity to sell an equivalent server at a vastly higher price than the original offer or a much worse one around the same price - arguably bait and switch.

We regret to inform you that part of your order is no longer available from our suppliers. Occasionally we will experience a time delay on product information, whereby a manufacturer will no longer have stock and will discontinue a product before we are able to update our systems.
Our Sales Team will be in touch shortly to discuss alternatives. Our expert team will, wherever possible, be able to offer you a similar product to your first choice.
You are under no obligation to change your order and have the option of a full refund. We do however recommend speaking to our team first as we can normally offer an alternative to meet the same criteria and needs.

Was that with the Xeon as you could also get the TS140 with a Pentium? With 16GB RAM? With 2TB hard drives? If not then it isn't really comparable.
The TS140 Xeon model with 4GB RAM was sold in the UK over two years ago for £375, but with £150 cashback and a Windows Server 2012 Essentials free, I bought that deal when posted here and sold the Windows OS for just over £100, after TopCashback as well, all in the TS140 cost me £100.
In regards to Brits paying more, whenever I look at the price of computers and components, I find that the UK price is usually the same or even less than the US price. However a lot more US retailers do some form of cashback or trade-in deal.

As I mentioned earlier, it is worth noting that the TS140 did indeed sell for $240 last year in the US. There are several hundred very happy reviewers on Amazon.
So Lenovo do sell these boxes at these prices elsewhere in the world.
The Brits can always be charged 2 or 3 times more though.
GoNz017
15 Mar 173#202
Corrected that for you, they are shop fronts for Lenovo in this case, they hold no stock hence the crap about secondary warehouse when I was on the phone earlier. Lenovo hold the stock and control the price. All the retailers then have an automatic markup that we see on the website.
This will be the case for all the sites who suddenly had this for £250 ish hence the massive cancellation.

Thats how it works, lenovo hold the stock and its advertised to the retailers. They all get a feed that has stock levels and prices in, which they all take from as needed. When a cock up happens it happens to all, as it has here. I went through the same earlier this year with the cheap RX480s, you could see who was linked to the same suppliers by their price changes.

Dear all,
Unfortunately, there has been a feed import error on our site today affecting the price and stock levels of the Lenovo ThinkServer TS150 (SKU: 70LV003KEA) on our site.
As a result we are unfortunately unable to accept and complete your order from today and have refunded you in full.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working to rectify the issue as soon as possible with Lenovo.
If I can be of assistance in helping out on pricing for anything else you were looking for to try to assist please feel free to get in touch.

You'll be somewhere in the region of 200w without the GPU based on the specs - a GTX 1050 / 1050 ti has TDP of 75w so you'll be over the PSUs rated supply but it'd probably run OK so long as it's not being taxed 100% for significant periods.

15 Mar 17#180
Would the stock box pull any more than 100w from the socket, even at full load?
Think you could drop a 1050ti in with no issues, considering it draws no more than 75w at full load.

If you go through the cashback process, there is a list, Ballicom isn't there, but there is an option for 'Other online retailer' - Was wondering myself.

So for those of us wanting more RAM, I guess the options are:
1. Buy multiple units, keep the RAM and sell the rest of parts. (Would need to make sure the cashback isn't limited to one claim per person). Time consuming and annoying selling on eBay.
2. Wait for other people to buy these for selling as parts, then buy the RAM from them in a couple of weeks, assuming they offer it at a discounted price.
3. Wait 6 months and maybe RAM prices will come down (but maybe they might keep going up)?
4. Buy non ECC RAM, swap for the included RAM and sell that.

I was so tempted to buy more than one..!
This really was too good a deal to pass up, even though I'd only just built my own system this past weekend! That system was intended to be 2-in-1 (ala Linus Tech Tips) for my partner and I to share in our home office for art/architectural visualisation projects, but I'd not yet got around to buying all the parts: I still needed to pick up a couple of 1TB drives for RAID 1 storage (those would come to ~£70-80 alone!) and the two GPUs (waiting/hoping for the GTX 1070s to drop to £300)... but with an extra system in the office maybe I won't bother!
I'm guessing we're going to see a lot of these parts cropping up on eBay over the coming days (just like those MX100s from Office Outlet that everyone is trying to cash-in on at the moment).

EDIT:
Ah, here is the TS140 PDF for RAID configuration. I suspect it will be the same for the TS150 as they use the same technology.
Basically, the RAID initialisation, as I suspected, wipes the drives.

Yes it is in the specs that win10 works.
It is basically faster DDR3, everything else is the same so I expect it is dual channel. My laptop DDR4 is dual channel and the chipset looks like it is anyway. You could make money downgrading to a pair of 8gb and selling the 16 if needs be with ram at a premium or leave it until prices drop.
Probably no sticker but they can't void the warranty anyway as some parts are shipped for you to fit according to the warranty. Fans are shipped out but not the CPU fan as that states engineer visit only (1 year onsite)

Certainly way cheaper than the sum of its parts.
Found a shot of the inside
and back
Aside from the Xeon and the ECC memory, it doesn't really look much like a server.
Certainly no proper HDD bays, just a cheap FSP power supply (well cheaper than a Delta or similar), no 2nd NIC etc.
But then again that it doesn't use a Matrox card but rather normal Intel HD P530 graphics, is expandable, has digital video out (DP which is easily converted to HDMI for those who constantly ask this on HUKD), appears to make it a good option for those who want to turn it into a desktop.
This Xeon is a little slower than the i7-6700 (non K) but only by 100Mhz base. Ironically, the Xeon E3-1225v5 lists at $213 compared to $303 which explains why Intel locked the Xeons out of desktop motherboards. Guess Intel sees desktop i7 buyers as an easy mark; or are more afraid of competition for servers.

DDR4 ECC single stick.
I have gone for it as well, paid the next day charge as it works out under £215 after cashback.
I was sat looking at upgrades for my e3-1220v2 sat in a rack server as it is struggling to decode my 4k ip cameras as it doesn't support quick sync.
uk.insight.com has dropped the price as well so for once I may actually get a bargain!
If my rack server sells for £100 I will be happy

I have a gen 8 it ended up in the loft too unpredictable with noise depending what you put in it. hopefully this will bring it back down again because I don't know how hot it will get in the loft in the summer. if this is legit then gen 8 up for sale

Obviously the CPU would be better but in terms of feature-set which would be better? HP Microserver Gen 8 with an i3/Xenon upgrade or this?

It's a genuine price and not a mistake. They often bring out a "top seller" model at a crazy price and this is a cracking deal.

Price looks right (and good!), slightly less on servers+ but no mention of cashback there. Same difference to the 1TB

Well I ordered for next day £265 hope it's comes but bet it will get cancelled

This one has 250W PSU but on Lenovo website I found version with 400W as well. I believe that upgrade should be possible if needed.

Stick a 1050ti in one of these and you've got a little beast of a machine for under £400.

Think I'll just phone to confirm it's not coming and then open a PayPal case!
From the info in this thread it sounds as if these are all dispatched by Lenovo and/or with Lenovo having the final say on how much they can be sold for.
The above products have not yet been shipped, we will keep you informed on the status of your order and would like to offer our apologies for the delay. If you do have any further questions, please contact your account manager or the inbound sales team by phone on 0800 038 8880 or via [email protected].

Was supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Still hope?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-thinkserver-ts140-ebuyer-252-24-2557273
i applied for next day delivery - so i am waiting if it turns up or not or they will state their suppliers system is not up to date
i had an order confirmation for the price of £250.00 however their website is now showing a £523.00 price.
Looks like says delivery from 30-3-17 on the £250 page. So probably not in stock at moment.
Thank you for your order.
Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you need any further assistance you can contact us on 0871 971 0005.

Won't bother ordering from them again.
I will be curious though whether Lenovo do sell this for £250 once the £50 cashback deal has ended.
Your Stock and Price are Guaranteed for 13 : 51 Minutes
Lets see how good your guarantee is then!
I guess this is a great way for them to get a load of cash into their business account for a few days when they have loads of people order these items that then get cancelled?
Just ordered from Misco and I've received a sales order confirmation so fingers crossed. Also as I think someone mentioned earlier it looks like Laptop Direct do have stock which will be delivered from Friday.
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/lenovo-thinkserver-ts150-70lv-intel-xeon-e3-1225v5-16gb-2x1tb-dvd-rw-tower-70lv003kea/version.asp?refsource=Ldadwords&gclid=CP7H3bnN2dICFTAz0woduTkCng
i was going to call them in the morning to see if actually in stock or not
They can hang on to your money for a week before they cancel.
So I seem to be halfway between you and the others on here. I am not holding my breath.
Edit:
The processed my order for a server last year. Took my money from my paypal account and they simply cancelled the order but did not return the money for several days - and not until I rang them up and complained.
Chased similar last year and they will disappoint in the end.
Don't bother, they don't have any in stock despite what that says.
Payment has also been processed.
That said, still expecting a cancellation email any time now.
Oh and quidco tracked too btw.
"We are sorry to inform you that the above item(s) are currently out of stock and are not available for dispatch.
Unfortunately we were unaware of this stock discrepancy until your order was passed to our warehouse for dispatch"
..
Wonder if these will pop up again in a few days time at 2-3 times the price? :smirk:
this was only a good offer as it came with alot of ram and hd's
Fact is this is the worst time to buy a new pc
the next 6 months amd are going to disrupt the market quite alot
and cpu specs are going to go up / drop in price by quite a bit
When I placed an order last night, they were showing 43 units in stock. Today got an email saying none available and the product discontinued.
They still have the server with half the RAM and storage listed there:
http://www.ebuyer.com/770314-lenovo-thinkserver-ts150-70lv-xeon-e3-1225v5-3-3ghz-8gb-ram-1tb-hdd-4u-70lv003hea?mkwid=s_dc&pcrid=51482426699&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=CKH4pZLm2NICFY8Q0wodkscPBg
But I expect the insight order to be cancelled.
I don't think it is discontinued since it has only just appeared - no UK reviews yet. Probably just an excuse to cancel this version at this price.
Too Good To Be Real
The TS140 Xeon model with 4GB RAM was sold in the UK over two years ago for £375, but with £150 cashback and a Windows Server 2012 Essentials free, I bought that deal when posted here and sold the Windows OS for just over £100, after TopCashback as well, all in the TS140 cost me £100.
In regards to Brits paying more, whenever I look at the price of computers and components, I find that the UK price is usually the same or even less than the US price. However a lot more US retailers do some form of cashback or trade-in deal.
So Lenovo do sell these boxes at these prices elsewhere in the world.
The Brits can always be charged 2 or 3 times more though.
This will be the case for all the sites who suddenly had this for £250 ish hence the massive cancellation.
I can understand pricing errors, but stock management failures are unacceptable for a retailer the size of eBuyer.
Soon caught on and just ordered from Insight without asking - still got cancelled.
And I think I made the mistake of asking Lenovo if seller "XYZ" was part of the cashback deal - immediately after I got a response, seller "XYZ" had pulled the deal :disappointed: Coincidence?
ffs.
In the meantime, if you have any questions please let me know.
Kind regards

Think you could drop a 1050ti in with no issues, considering it draws no more than 75w at full load.
this box only has 250w...

Looks like it is not a standard PSU connection but is also NOT the same as the TS140......!
Instead of the 14 pin adapter for which replacements are readily available on ebay, it seems to use a 10 pin motherboard connector.
It also has custom connectors for the SATA power as well. This is a pic of the 400w model PSU, which seems to hold true given what else I've read:
It has 1 x 10 pin output, 1 x what looks like a 6p PCIE, and 1 x 4 pin, hopefully standard 'P4' power to the motherboard.
The manual here shows a 10 pin power connector, and 3x 4 pin power connectors to the board - two of which seem to be outputs to the SATA drives.

Any more thoughts peeps? This perhaps?

This might work well for this purpose, whilst simultaneously allowing me to put old HD's in and get whatever data is on them off.....
Does this support 2 * Monitors? As she's adamant that she wants to have a PC using my two spare monitors.
Are these the same layout as the TS-140?
Doesnt look like there is too much difference between the e3-1225v5 and the e3-1226v3? Anyone got both to comment on real world performance?
Anyone knows if it's possible to get the RAID controller working in ESXi? Even just as JBOD.
And how about the onboard NIC?
The cancellation emails may follow
Read through the thread for more info on adding a GPU and things to look out for.
thanks
https://lenovopress.com/lp0071-lenovo-thinkserver-ts150
Not 100% sure that applies to this board though, i read that in the data sheet pdf, it could apply to some other boards in the product range
"Up to four 2133 MHz DDR4 ECC or non-ECC UDIMMs provide speed and capacity of up to 64 GB"
The Lenovo page says it is optional:
https://lenovopress.com/lp0071-lenovo-thinkserver-ts150
As the earlier photo (from lenovopress) showed:
Can it take Amd GPUs?
This really was too good a deal to pass up, even though I'd only just built my own system this past weekend! That system was intended to be 2-in-1 (ala Linus Tech Tips) for my partner and I to share in our home office for art/architectural visualisation projects, but I'd not yet got around to buying all the parts: I still needed to pick up a couple of 1TB drives for RAID 1 storage (those would come to ~£70-80 alone!) and the two GPUs (waiting/hoping for the GTX 1070s to drop to £300)... but with an extra system in the office maybe I won't bother!
I'm guessing we're going to see a lot of these parts cropping up on eBay over the coming days (just like those MX100s from Office Outlet that everyone is trying to cash-in on at the moment).
and the lenovo part is like £230
Gona sit on mine until price drops to £50-£70
atm it would be cheaper to get another server
keep memory
sell hd's
sell cpu
sell bare case with motherboard
EDIT:
Ah, here is the TS140 PDF for RAID configuration. I suspect it will be the same for the TS150 as they use the same technology.
Basically, the RAID initialisation, as I suspected, wipes the drives.

Guys can you please send the links for adopters, cables and cash back claim links on this thread please, as I intend to use it as a gaming PC too by putting in a new power supply, ssd, and a graphics card also my monitor takes HDMI output And the sound system takes a digital output which is something like spdif cable.
can someone send me a few links/help on what I need to do to sort out all these issues?
im going to wait for ebuyer to post it
then order a psu adapter and dp adapter the same day
id rather pay £1 more and not have to worry about a damaged display port 6months down the line
so should be fine any atx psu will work with one of these
122370163868 on ebay
If so can you link the PSU and Adaptor please it would be really helpful
Thanks I only use 1080p tv hasn't fallen off the wall in 7 years sadly

though if you want hdmi 2.0 (does the gpu support 4k?) this may be required

RX 460 / GTX 1050 TI
though tbh i have two Corsair HX750 psu's going spare so i may get an atx to lenovo power adapter
my HD 3000 in my laptop plays everything under the sun just fine
so the HD P530 will be even better
the HD P530 plays Overwatch at 50-60fps with fsaa off at 1280x720
The optional 400W psu for TS150 seems to be going for well over £100 on the Bay.
And about people wanting to use it as a media player, highly suggest that you put a proper graphics card in it.
Have some heat, good price for that spec and a nice Xeon chip.

You can buy an adaptor for only £5.99 on popular auction site. Search: 111689057895
I think it is better than it used to be but may need (like iLo) a paid update for all the features.
It can take 4 3.5 and 1 2.5 drive. I will be doing away with the optical if it comes with one.
do we loose bandwidth not being duel channel with ddr4
havnt really looked into ddr4 not having one atm
CPU is £225 by its self https://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-xeon-e3-1225-v5-s-1151-skylake-quad-core-33ghz-37ghz-turbo-8mb-350mhz-gpu-33x-ratio-80w-cpu-re
My Dell t20 with 4Gb was about the same price with a v3 processor and 4gb of memory
Hadn't realised that Intel did Xeon i5s... that is, this Xeon is 4C/4T as it doesn't have HT.
It's really hard to keep track of what is and what is not disabled on Intel CPUs
You may be out of luck as windows 7 drivers are hard to find but Macriums your best bet at an easy swap.
Thanks OP!
Yes it will be fine.
b. nah, the CPU has its own iGPU.
Will very likely need upping a bit to support a decent graphics card
