The China tabs are much better than this for the same price. I've bought many over the years from China and never had a faulty one sent and never been charged import duty or vat. So people complaining about the risks of buying from China should just try it, then talk about the experience afterwards.

What you just said is "I've had no issues so no issues exist" AND you missed the whole point I made - well done.
It's not that cheap imported tablets/phones are bad - it's that they're not comparable to tablets sold in UK stores.
Chalk isn't bad but it's not great when it's topping a burger - different things entirely.
The "buy a cheap import tablet" response to posts like this is like the "build your own" response to every PC deal - it's pointless and tiresome and it comes from people having no perspective but their own.
If you had an actual current deal to point-to it MIGHT be useful but just saying "better deals exist which are radically different" is a waste of everyone's time.

The reason you can't compare them isn't just the lack of comeback (I mean you can literally buy an imported tablet and have it be DoA and be SoL in some cases) and risk of import duties (ever harder to avoid) - it's also the fact that people don't want to have to wait eons for it to arrive!?
The failure rate on import phones/tablets (esp in the 6-12 months range) is pretty-high - in most cases you'd have no issue with a UK-sourced machine failing in that time but with imports you're generally SoL - that is a sizeable issue for some folks (people buying for their kids won't care because their kids will break it before then!) :smiley:

Your opinion is totally valid of course, but my experience of items in this low price bracket has always been positive and the extra value traded against consumer protection will always make me import stuff. Although the crud dollar to pound rate will probably put an end to that.

An imported tablet with zero warranty or consumer comeback against faults is not comparable to a product bought in a UK store - it just isn't...

You can pick up a Chinese tablet likeChuwi or Teclast for well under £100. I've had a few and build quality has always been good.

my wifes a10-70 had a dead motherboard
fixed by Lenovo in 2 weeks
but was not expecting it to go wrong with in 3 months
after looking at the reviews, its a great price and specs
but the quality isn't there.

A bit harsh. Which brands are quality? A dell 17" Laptop in which the HDD dies after 3 months? An IBM £1800 business type laptop where fan needs to be replaced after 6 months? An iPad air where on delivery, charger overheats? A Hp tablet where charging socket becomes loose/faulty after 10 months?

The lack of class 10 sd card support on this is a killer for me. Purchased this for my son, plonked a 64gb SAN disk ultra in and it didn't recognise it. Seemingly a forum search over on lenovos own site yields pages littered with various tablets in their range with the same fault

2 of the 8" ones in our house for the kids (7&9) and they are great. Had them at Christmas to replace faulty hudl2's and they do the job, run minecraft (albeit with settings low to ensure max frame rate possible) which was the most important thing. Sure the hudl2s were better spec, but I haven't had any complaints yet. :smiley:

For those interested here is a link to a case though in reality the blue is darker, more like navy. Currently using blue and red for 2 Lenovo Tab 2 10.1" Full HD (think model was A10-70). However last week bought this Tab 3 from Argos and tried my current case with it, fitted absolutely fine. The only slight issue is that the volume and on/off buttons are not as easy to access as with the Tab 2 model but this is not the case's fault - it is because the buttons on the Tab 3 are not mounted on the flat of the side but in a recess just under it. I guess that would be the case with any case. Most importantly for us has been the fatc that the cases kept the tablets in place when they had been dropped (half-a-dozen times each), and they continue to work just as good.

I have been considering getting a Lenovo tablet for a while. But even now nearly 2 years on, I haven't seen a replacement for my Hudl2 that is around the same price and has noticably - if at all - better specs. Was extremely disappointed when they announced the cancellation of any future Hudl's. At this rate, it looks like i'll probably be sticking with it for some time to come yet.

We have 2x 8" 2GB Lenovo tablets in our house, I use one daily as does my daughter. Great tablet for the price, granted it's not as snappy as my Nexus 10 was, nor is the screen as good. But it certainly doesn't lag and has done everything I have asked it to do up to now. Can't fault them.

No end of problems with a black screen on this model for us. Similar problems with my mums different model Lenovo. Personally, I'd steer clear!

Ive had a few lenovo, tried the 7 inch and was very glitchy. I then got an 8 inch as i thought that it may have just been isolated issues with the first. Although not as bad, it is still laggy and i would be reluctant to buy Lenovo again.
Very good price though, if lucky enough not to have lagging issues
